Zheng Yanyan had never been interested in Chang Hao. Now that Zhou Yuwen had arrived with a BMW M4, even talking to Chang Hao was a generous favor on her part. She quickly turned to Zhou Yuwen, throwing herself into his arms, and excitedly said, "Baby, let’s go out for a drive!"
You had to admit, dating a girl like Zheng Yanyan was fun. She was clingy yet carefree, and her emotional energy was contagious—Li Qiang couldn’t help but feel a bit envious.
He nudged Chang Hao with his elbow and said, "Hey, Hao, look at them—they seem so happy together. Didn’t you tell a few days ago to learn to let go?"
Chang Hao’s expression darkened; he was already unhappy, and Li Qiang’s comnt only made it worse. He snapped, "What do you know? Do you really think Lao Zhou can make her happy?"
"Why not? Lao Zhou’s way better looking than us!" Li Qiang replied honestly.
When Li Qiang found out that Lu Lin liked Zhou Yuwen, his first thought was to give up. But Chang Hao insisted that Zhou Yuwen wasn’t good enough for Zheng Yanyan.
"Does looks really matter?" Chang Hao sneered. Seeing there were other girls around, he didn’t continue. But his expression clearly showed what he was thinking. Suddenly, he turned to Su Qing and Shen Yu and asked, "Did Zhou Yuwen rent a car to take Yanyan out?"
Su Qing, being a reborn person, understood the implication behind Chang Hao’s words and coldly replied, "No, he bought it."
"Bought? What kind of car did he buy?" Chang Hao asked urgently.
"Didn’t you see the BMW outside when you ca in?" Su Qing said.
Outside? Wasn’t there just one BMW M4 convertible?
Wait a minute!
At that mont, the sound of the M4’s engine roared to life outside, the powerful hum filling the air.
Chang Hao turned abruptly and saw Zheng Yanyan sitting in the passenger seat, looking triumphant.
She was genuinely happy—Chang Hao had never seen her smile like that before.
Zheng Yanyan had taken off her jacket and was now just wearing a tank top. A BMW and a beautiful woman—a perfect combination.
Zhou Yuwen, sitting in the driver’s seat with sunglasses on, adjusted the car’s position before speeding away.
To Chang Hao, this was too much to handle. He couldn’t believe it was really Zhou Yuwen driving the car. He ran outside, only to get a face full of exhaust fus, finally confirming it was indeed Zhou Yuwen.
"Was that really Lao Zhou?" Li Qiang, who had followed him out, was also shocked to see Zhou Yuwen driving such a nice car. But then he grumbled, "Why didn’t Lao Zhou ntion anything when I asked him earlier?"
"Hao, you see? You can’t bla yourself for losing to Lao Zhou. He’s driving a convertible, so why can’t he make Zheng Yanyan happy?" Li Qiang patted Chang Hao on the shoulder.
Chang Hao scoffed, "That car’s not even expensive, just seventy or eighty thousand. Do you know how much a house costs where I’m from?"
Beijing’s real estate prices were notoriously high.
But at this mont, Chang Hao’s expression was so amusing that even Li Qiang couldn’t help but laugh, "I don’t know how expensive your Beijing houses are, but I do know that Zheng Yanyan is now Lao Zhou’s girlfriend."
"You!"
"Haha, I’m just kidding, Hao. Don’t get mad, let’s go back and finish eating."
When Li Qiang and Chang Hao returned, Su Qing and Shen Yu had already finished their al and excused themselves, saying they had other things to do.
Chang Hao remained gloomy, but Li Qiang seed to be in good spirits.
Chang Hao asked if he wasn’t upset anymore—hadn’t he been really down about Lu Lin before?
Li Qiang didn’t answer directly. He had been upset because Lu Lin said she liked Zhou Yuwen, and he knew he couldn’t compare to him. But now that Zhou Yuwen was with Zheng Yanyan, Li Qiang felt he still had a chance with Lu Lin.
Li Qiang thought, even if he couldn’t match Lao Zhou, he was still better than the other guys, right? What was there to be upset about? There was still ti.
Li Qiang actually wanted to be friends with Zhou Yuwen, since Zhou Yuwen was both wealthy and capable. If Lao Zhou would let him borrow the car to take Lu Lin out, that would be even better...
In the afternoon, Zhou Yuwen took Zheng Yanyan and Lu Lin for a drive around the university town. Zheng Yanyan loved the feeling of the wind as they cruised along.
Driving at 80 km/h on the university town’s asphalt roads, Zheng Yanyan’s long hair flew in the wind. She loved this feeling, snapping several photos and even borrowing Zhou Yuwen’s sunglasses to wear.
"Look at the cara!"
"I’m driving."
"Oh, co on, just look at the cara!"
Zhou Yuwen finally pulled over to take a couple of photos with Zheng Yanyan. She carefully picked out nine pictures to post on social dia, mostly showing off the car’s interior.
Though she was hesitant to drive the car herself, she made sure to take a few photos in the driver’s seat, with her legs prominently displayed. She snapped several shots of her slender, well-proportioned legs, even posing with a peace sign.
After taking and posting all these photos, she finally rembered Lu Lin sitting in the back seat. Laughing, she asked, "So, Lu Lin, what do you think of my boyfriend’s car?"
"It’s nice," Lu Lin replied from the back seat, though she didn’t seem to share in Zheng Yanyan’s joy. But it didn’t matter to her—she was just along for the ride.
Zhou Yuwen asked where they wanted to go. Zheng Yanyan didn’t have a specific place in mind, but Lu Lin suggested they go hiking at Purple Mountain.
Zheng Yanyan shook her head, saying it was too tiring and not much fun.
"How about we go shopping instead? I’m heading ho tomorrow, so I could pick up so things for my parents," Zheng Yanyan suggested.
Zhou Yuwen said he didn’t mind, and Lu Lin just shrugged, leaving the decision to them.
So they spent the afternoon shopping with Zheng Yanyan. She paid for everything herself, despite Zhou Yuwen offering to cover the expenses.
Zhou Yuwen insisted it wasn’t a big deal, but Zheng Yanyan refused. "If I let you pay, I wouldn’t know how to turn you down later," she joked.
Zhou Yuwen understood what she ant, "Oh, so you’re not planning to agree to anything?"
Zheng Yanyan laughed, "Not so quickly."
It was true—despite her carefree attitude, Zheng Yanyan was careful and had protected herself well for 18 years. Zhou Yuwen knew this, having dated Su Qing for four years in his previous life. He was familiar with their dorm’s dynamics—they all had high standards. Even when he and Su Qing divorced, none of the girls had boyfriends.
Su Qing had once ntioned that after she and Zhou Yuwen got married, Zheng Yanyan would often ask about their relationship, curious about how it felt to be with a guy and whether Zhou Yuwen was any good.
Since Zheng Yanyan had made her stance clear, Zhou Yuwen didn’t push further. He just played along, letting her pay if that’s what she wanted.
They spent the afternoon shopping, trying on clothes. Zheng Yanyan tried on a lot but didn’t buy much.
She even insisted on buying a couple of outfits for Zhou Yuwen, dragging him to try on clothes and buying what she liked.
During all this, Lu Lin remained quiet, just sitting and waiting while playing on her phone.
Zhou Yuwen suggested she try on so clothes, but Lu Lin quickly declined, "No point in trying them on if I can’t afford them."
Zhou Yuwen didn’t push the issue.
They shopped all afternoon and ended up having dinner at a cozy restaurant in the mall. Zheng Yanyan treated them, even though she had already spent nearly 2,000 yuan on shopping.
Zhou Yuwen asked how she planned to manage her expenses after spending so much.
Zheng Yanyan replied, "Half of this stuff is for my mom."
"I’m going ho, so I’ll just ask them to reimburse ."
"Why don’t you co ho with , Zhou Yuwen?" Zheng Yanyan teased.
"You wish! You haven’t even given anything, and you want to go ho with you?" Zhou Yuwen joked back.
"What do you want, then?"
"I’m a normal guy."
Their conversation was casual, and neither of them cared that Lu Lin was sitting right there. When they got to this point in the conversation, Zheng Yanyan rolled her eyes at Zhou Yuwen, signaling that Lu Lin was still present.
Zhou Yuwen just laughed, used to this kind of banter from his previous relationships. He believed that in relationships, it was important to express his desires clearly, not too forcefully, but enough for the girl to know that he was interested. Over ti, with more dates and gifts, she might start to feel guilty, and then it would be easier to make a move.
Of course, this approach only works when the man has enough money and a clear goal in mind; it’s not suited for a typical campus romance based on pure love. Lu Lin understood what Zhou Yuwen ant but didn’t say anything, continuing to eat her ice cream in silence.
After finishing their al, Zheng Yanyan and Lu Lin walked ahead, arm in arm, while Zhou Yuwen followed behind, carrying all the shopping bags. By 8 PM, he drove them back to their dormitory.
As Zhou Yuwen drove with one hand on the wheel, he held Zheng Yanyan’s hand with the other. She, being considerate, placed his hand on her leg.
When they arrived and the car stopped, Zheng Yanyan pretended to get out.
"You’re just going to leave like that?" Zhou Yuwen asked.
Zheng Yanyan shot him a playful look, "What a tease."
She then told Lu Lin to take the bags up to the dorm while she stayed to take a walk with Zhou Yuwen.
"Sure," Lu Lin replied, already knowing this would happen.
After Lu Lin left with the bags, Zhou Yuwen drove to a quiet spot by the university’s artificial lake. The car ca to a stop, and the engine was turned off.
The area was dimly lit, with only the lake’s surface reflecting a soft, tranquil light. Zheng Yanyan kept her head down, focused on editing the photos she had taken earlier, preparing to post them on social dia. Despite the atmosphere, she was feeling a bit self-conscious.
Zhou Yuwen waited for her to finish editing the photos so they could enjoy the mont together, but she kept her head down, now taking pictures of her legs. With nothing else to do, Zhou Yuwen decided to play on his phone as well.
After so ti passed without any interaction, Zheng Yanyan finally gave in. She adjusted her seat, took off her shoes, and naturally placed her sock-covered feet on Zhou Yuwen’s lap, playfully moving them around.
Zhou Yuwen, still holding his phone with one hand, naturally placed the other on her foot. In the dim light, Zheng Yanyan’s legs appeared strikingly pale. Her feet, still in their white ankle socks, looked delicate, with slender and smooth calves.
After a while, feeling the mood shift, Zhou Yuwen removed Zheng Yanyan’s socks, revealing her smooth, unblemished feet. As a girl from the north, Zheng Yanyan’s feet were slightly larger than Su Qing’s, and her toes were well-grood, playfully wiggling in his lap like little rabbits.
Zhou Yuwen lightly tickled her soles, making her reflexively press her feet down, inadvertently brushing against his pants. At that mont, Zhou Yuwen felt a spark, and Zheng Yanyan, sensing his reaction, shyly moved a little closer.
"What are you looking at?" Zhou Yuwen asked as he noticed she was still looking down. He leaned closer, trying to get her attention.
Since she was sitting sideways, Zhou Yuwen couldn’t reach her, so he pulled her legs closer.
"Hey, what are you doing?" she asked playfully, a little flustered.
"Co here," Zhou Yuwen said as he pulled her into his lap with a firm motion.
As a result, her denim-clad hips pressed snugly against him, causing her to blush, though she couldn’t bring herself to say anything.
Zhou Yuwen adjusted his position to get more comfortable. After all, he was young—he usually didn’t think about such things. But now, with a beautiful woman in his arms, Zhou Yuwen realized he was genuinely aroused.
