Jiang Xinyi looked at her mother with a hint of disdain in her eyes.

Liu Jing completely ignored the look. She was still in the mood to lower her head and take a sip of coffee. It was December, and having just co in from the cold outside, a couple sips of hot coffee truly ward her body and soul. Nodding in satisfaction, she said to Zhou Yuwen, "Little Zhou, the coffee beans you have here aren't bad at all. I think it's quite delicious."

Zhou Yuwen smiled. "As long as you like it, Auntie. Let Sister Xinyi keep you company here for a bit. I still have so matters to attend to."

"Go ahead and busy yourself, don't worry about ," Liu Jing replied, making no effort to hide her fondness for Zhou Yuwen. She bead brightly. It wasn't that this wealthy madam was naturally naive or airheaded; it was just that all these circumstances coming together felt like pure serendipity.

Fate was a marvelous thing. At over forty years old, Liu Jing had lived a life of luxury and privilege, eting countless people along the way. Yet, she rarely encountered a young man like Zhou Yuwen, soone she took an imdiate liking to at first glance.

He was incredibly polite, exceptionally handso, and handled his affairs with thodical precision. Compared to her daughter's previous boyfriend, the difference was like heaven and earth.

If Liu Jing rely felt a sense of connection with Zhou Yuwen before running into Jiang Xinyi, learning that he was her daughter's boss made her feel as though this was entirely ordained by heaven.

She knew her own daughter. Jiang Xinyi's social circle was pitifully small. The only reason she had dated You Changjin was because that boy had been bold enough to take advantage of the opportunity.

Since Jiang Xinyi was highly resistant to blind dates, finding a suitable young man already in her imdiate vicinity to spend ti with was simply perfect.

And this Zhou Yuwen—whether it was his appearance or his talent—standing next to her daughter, the phrase 'a match made in heaven' genuinely popped into Liu Jing's mind.

She felt that there would never be another young man more worthy of her daughter.

Zhou Yuwen's office was originally part of a larger space divided into several smaller rooms. His specific office had the best natural lighting and featured glass partition walls.

Because of this, Liu Jing, sitting on the sofa outside, could easily see him inside holding docunts, reading through them while simultaneously looking up information on his computer.

He sat there with a perfectly straight posture, and from the outside, the more Liu Jing watched him, the more she liked him.

"Hey, Madam Liu, watch your mouth. You're about to drool," Jiang Xinyi teased, utterly despising her mother's behavior. Why did her mother act like she couldn't get married? The mont she saw a man of suitable age, it was as if she wanted to charge into battle herself.

Continuing her teasing, Jiang Xinyi grabbed a tissue and reached over as if to wipe her mother's mouth.

Naturally, Liu Jing swatted her daughter's hand away and gave her a reproachful glare. "What nonsense are you spouting? Is that any way to tease your own mother?"

"It's the truth. The way I see it, you aren't trying to introduce a partner to , you're getting ready to take the field yourself," Jiang Xinyi muttered softly.

Liu Jing heard her loud and clear. Without a shred of hesitation, she reached out, pinched the soft flesh at Jiang Xinyi's waist, and gave it a sharp twist.

"Ah!" Jiang Xinyi cried out. She never expected her mother to actually pinch her.

She yelped in pain.

Inside the office, Zhou Yuwen instinctively looked up.

He seed a bit puzzled, but seeing that the two won were fine, he quickly returned to his work.

Jiang Xinyi clutched her side, wincing at the lingering sting. "Mom, you actually pinched !"

"Do you even hear the things coming out of your mouth?" Liu Jing glared at her. Although she hadn't raised Jiang Xinyi with strict traditional rules, her daughter really shouldn't be making such disrespectful remarks.

Realizing she had crossed a line, Jiang Xinyi pouted and grumbled, "Well, the way you're acting right now doesn't exactly scream respectable elder either!"

Liu Jing kept a straight face and spoke very seriously. "I'm only acting this way because I want you to start paying attention."

"This Zhou Yuwen is truly excellent. He's good-looking, exceptionally capable, and most importantly, incredibly talented. On top of that, you already know him. Even if you went on a hundred blind dates, a young man like this would be impossibly hard to find. Mom speaks from experience, just trust

this once," Liu Jing said, patting her daughter's thigh through her long dress.

Currently, Jiang Xinyi had no idea that Zhou Yuwen had recently broken up. However, seeing her mother's enthusiastic deanor, she felt quite disdainful. She retorted, "What does it matter if he's capable? He's still just from so small city. Don't you usually look down on people from backgrounds like that?"

"A small city? What's wrong with a small city? Coming from a small city only ans his starting point is a bit lower, but our family's resources can more than make up for that. When looking for a partner, the most important thing is his personal capability," Liu Jing countered.

"Hah," Jiang Xinyi sneered upon hearing this. 'Do you even hear what you're saying right now? What was your tune when you rejected Little You?'

It wasn't that Jiang Xinyi still harbored lingering feelings for You Changjin. Fundantally, she and You Changjin had barely even dated. Her sneer stemd from a common trait among daughters of wealthy families—a stubborn sense of justice that couldn't stand their parents' blatant double standards.

"I don't think his personal capabilities are all that great anyway. He just got lucky starting a company. If it weren't for , he would have been bleeding money a long ti ago," Jiang Xinyi said dismissively.

"Company?" Liu Jing looked genuinely confused. "Who said anything about his company? Our family doesn't lack money."

"If we aren't talking about his company, then what are you—"

"Don't you know he writes novels?" Liu Jing felt her daughter was being rather slow on the uptake.

"?" Jiang Xinyi really had no idea.

She wasn't a student at this university, nor was she the type of girl to hang out on campus forums every day. Her social circle had absolutely zero overlap with Zhou Yuwen's, so it was completely normal for her to be entirely in the dark.

Seeing her daughter's bewildered expression, Liu Jing felt a surge of dissatisfaction. And here she thought her daughter was well-acquainted with Zhou Yuwen. As it turned out, she knew practically nothing about him.

Hmph, it was a good thing she ca by today.

Otherwise, who knew which random girl might snatch away her perfect future son-in-law.

Jiang Xinyi truly didn't know that Zhou Yuwen wrote novels, but what puzzled her even more was how her old mother seed to know absolutely everything.

Feeling that her daughter was being hopelessly dense, Liu Jing didn't even bother explaining. Without a word, she pulled out her phone and shoved it over so her daughter could read it for herself.

Oh, no wonder.

Jiang Xinyi had found it incredibly strange. Her mother wasn't so sheltered housewife who had never seen a capable man before, so why was she swooning so hard the mont she laid eyes on Zhou Yuwen?

It turned out the internet was already praising Zhou Yuwen to the high heavens.

Calling him things like an outstanding young novelist.

Detailing exactly how much money he made in a single month.

Speculating on the dizzying heights he would reach in the future.

Jiang Xinyi swiped through the article for a long ti. When she saw that he had earned a million last month, she genuinely felt a spark of astonishnt.

She didn't necessarily think Zhou Yuwen's literary achievents were all that profound, but she fully understood how incredibly difficult it was for an ordinary person to earn a million.

Wait a minute. If he had so much money, couldn't he afford to buy a decent new computer for the office!??

Watching her daughter intently pore over the news articles about Zhou Yuwen, Liu Jing was finally certain that her daughter had been completely clueless. She said, "Now do you understand just how exceptional this little boss of yours really is?"

"I've introduced you to plenty of blind dates. Overseas returnee PhDs, high-ranking financial executives... You always reject them, either complaining that they are unreliable or that they are too old. So what could you possibly find to complain about with Little Zhou?"

"He's handso, incredibly capable, and he doesn't co from the kind of pretentious aristocratic background you abhor. Are you satisfied now?" Liu Jing asked, guiding her gently but firmly.

In certain respects, Zhou Yuwen did indeed fit Jiang Xinyi's expectations for a future partner.

Even if Liu Jing hadn't brought it up, it was highly likely that the thought had crossed Jiang Xinyi's mind at least once.

But it was rely a passing thought before she imdiately vetoed it. Never mind the age gap.

The guy already had a girlfriend, for crying out loud.

What shocked Jiang Xinyi the most was the revelation that Zhou Yuwen wrote novels.

Checking the publication ti, it seed the news had only exploded a couple of days ago. His hour-and-a-half-long exclusive interview had been transcribed into text by all the major news websites.

Various quotes and insights he shared during the interview were highlighted throughout the articles.

Like how he had grown up in an ordinary small city with completely average parents.

It was that calm, unpretentious way of speaking.

Unexpectedly, it deeply resonated with Jiang Xinyi.

"Look, I'm telling you, this young boss of yours is a real catch. Even if you have reservations, you can at least try getting to know him better, right?" Liu Jing coaxed, taking a step back to compromise. Seeing that her mother was entirely serious, Jiang Xinyi decided to just tell her the truth. It wasn't that her daughter wasn't willing to put in the effort, but the guy was already taken. His girlfriend was an eighteen-year-old, radiant school beauty.

Just as she opened her mouth to speak.

"Sister Xinyi." Zhou Yuwen suddenly stood at the office door, holding a stack of docunts as he called out to her.

Jiang Xinyi looked up.

Zhou Yuwen asked, "Is it convenient for you to co over for a second?"

Knowing that her daughter was currently on the clock, Liu Jing quickly ushered her over.

Jiang Xinyi stood up and walked into the office.

Holding the docunts, Zhou Yuwen pointed out two specific clauses he hadn't fully understood and showed them to her. He asked, "It looks like we don't et these two criteria. If we submit the application like this, will it be approved?"

"Oh," Jiang Xinyi nodded and quickly explained. "The newly registered culture company doesn't et the requirents on its own, but if we combine its cash flow with the courier station and the labor service company, we clear the threshold easily."

"As for the other conditions, I've already reached out and discussed them with my forr classmates..."

Jiang Xinyi patiently broke everything down for Zhou Yuwen, who nodded continuously as he listened.

Sitting on the sofa, Liu Jing quietly observed the picture-perfect pair. The more she watched, the more thoroughly satisfied she felt. Her requirents for a son-in-law really weren't that high. Soone exactly like Zhou Yuwen—handso, capable of holding a conversation with her daughter, and able to work side-by-side with her toward a common goal.

It wasn't that You Changjin was a bad person; it was simply that the boy was fundantally unsuited for her daughter.

Zhou Yuwen was excellent. Watching them seriously discuss work matters, Liu Jing couldn't help but think that when she eventually handed the family business over to Xinyi, Zhou Yuwen would be perfectly capable of stepping in to help.

Of course, that would be a matter for the young couple to decide among themselves.

Even if the company was handed over entirely to Zhou Yuwen's managent, Liu Jing wouldn't have the slightest objection.

Once Jiang Xinyi and Zhou Yuwen started talking about work, there was no end in sight. Liu Jing sat there for a little while longer before pulling out her phone and sending a ssage to Xiao Li.

When her high heels broke earlier, Liu Jing had already contacted Xiao Li.

She hadn't intended to flaunt her wealth or privilege on campus, but she couldn't realistically make Zhou Yuwen escort her all the way back to the university gates.

By now, Xiao Li had already parked the Maybach right downstairs outside Pioneer Park.

Seeing that her daughter and Zhou Yuwen were nowhere near finished, Liu Jing stood up and announced, "Alright then, Yuwen, Xinyi, you two keep busy. I'll be heading out now."

Hearing that Liu Jing was leaving, Zhou Yuwen and Jiang Xinyi finally snapped out of their work trance. Closing the folder, Zhou Yuwen offered, "So soon? In that case, let

walk you out, Auntie."

"No need, my driver is already waiting downstairs," Liu Jing replied, beaming radiantly at Zhou Yuwen. "I've really troubled you today."

"Originally, I was quite unhappy with Xinyi working here. But knowing that you're her boss sets my mind at ease. Yuwen, our Xinyi might be quite a bit older than you, but she's been completely spoiled by her father and . She still has the temperant of a little girl, and sotis she can be a bit immature when handling things. While you two are working together, please be patient and accommodate her."

Jiang Xinyi rolled her eyes in the background.

'Am I really as unbearable as you make

sound?' she thought to herself.

"Not at all, Auntie. Sister Xinyi is incredibly talented. Having her at my company has taken a massive load off my shoulders. Sister Xinyi has taught

a lot," Zhou Yuwen replied.

Zhou Yuwen always knew exactly the right things to say, prompting Jiang Xinyi to unconsciously lift her chin with pride.

'See? Your daughter is quite formidable!'

Liu Jing looked at Zhou Yuwen and smiled gently. He was young, but his temperant was remarkably steady and grounded. Whether he pursued politics or business, he would undoubtedly excel, and on top of that, he was already a moderately famous author.

"Alright, Auntie will take her leave now. When you have free ti, co over to Auntie's house with Xinyi for a al. Auntie wants to properly thank you," Liu Jing said as she headed for the door.

Naturally, Zhou Yuwen and Jiang Xinyi escorted her out to the hallway.

Liu Jing kept insisting there was no need to see her off and that they should just focus on their work.

Only after Liu Jing got into the car did Zhou Yuwen and Jiang Xinyi finally retreat back into the office.

Once Liu Jing was gone, Zhou Yuwen visibly relaxed. As they walked back to his desk, he joked, "Sister Xinyi, why do I get the feeling that our mom has taken a fancy to ?"

"Tch!" Jiang Xinyi scoffed. 'What thick skin,' she thought.

"Hey, wait a minute, whose mom?" Jiang Xinyi suddenly narrowed her eyes.

Zhou Yuwen smirked. "Our—"

Before he could even finish his sentence, Jiang Xinyi lunged forward to pinch him. The exact lesson her old mother had just inflicted upon her was now perfectly applicable to Zhou Yuwen. Where was his respect for his elders?

Zhou Yuwen hastily begged for rcy. "Alright, alright! It was just a joke, just a joke!"

"Are you trying to turn the heavens upside down? You actually dare to make jokes at your teacher's wife's expense?" Jiang Xinyi shot him a fierce glare. Even though she had already broken up with You Changjin, when she first t Zhou Yuwen, she had been introduced in the capacity of an elder.

"Give

a break," Zhou Yuwen retorted.

"My Teacher You begs for your attention every single day, and you don't even give him the ti of day. How do you have the nerve to call yourself my teacher's wife? If you genuinely want to be my teacher's wife, go get back together with Teacher You right now. I promise I'll respect my elders to the absolute fullest."

"Don't try to goad . Even though I broke up with him, a teacher for a day is a mother for a lifeti. Little Zhou, I will always be your elder. These kinds of jokes are completely off-limits," Jiang Xinyi warned, raising an eyebrow and letting out a huff.

"What a pity then," Zhou Yuwen sighed dramatically.

"I was really hoping I wouldn't have to work hard for the rest of my life."

"Keep dreaming. Are there any problems with the docunts?" Jiang Xinyi asked, crossing her arms over her chest and giving another light huff.

Zhou Yuwen assured her there were none.

"I'll sign them right now." After appending his signature, Zhou Yuwen handed the file back to her and naturally offered a few words of encouragent. "You've worked really hard these past few days while I was away from Jinling."

"I heard from Linlin that you've been leaving really late every single night."

This caused a faint blush to creep up Jiang Xinyi's cheeks. The truth was, her dormitory was much too loud, and there was always soone trying to strike up a conversation with her at the library. Pioneer Park was actually the absolute best place to study. Not only were the utilities free, but she could drink unlimited free coffee to her heart's content. Best of all, the internet speed was infinitely faster than the library's.

It was practically a divine paradise for slacking off, so of course Jiang Xinyi loved it.

"Ahem, it's enough that you know I've been working hard. Don't just give

empty praise. You promised ages ago to treat

to a al, yet I haven't seen hide nor hair of it since."

"Ah? Did I ever say I'd treat you to a al?"

Jiang Xinyi just stared at him in utter silence.

Zhou Yuwen burst into laughter. Tapping the docunts in her hands, he said, "Don't worry. Once our entrepreneurship subsidy cos through, I'll not only treat you to a massive feast, I'll also give you a fat bonus."

"So keep up the good work, Sister Xinyi. You've got this!"

Having said his piece, Zhou Yuwen turned to slip away, only for Jiang Xinyi to instantly seize him by the collar. "Forget about another day, we're doing it today!"

"We are eating a huge feast!"

"I don't have any money, Sister Xinyi!"

"Oh please, Mr. Great Author. What happened to your one million?"
