Zhou Yuwen first went to the administration building to report back from his leave of absence.
His arrival at You Changjin's office caused quite a stir. At You Changjin's level, he certainly did not have a private office; basically, seven or eight teachers shared a single room. Because Zhou Yuwen was a landscaping major, the office was cluttered with various drawing tools and submitted student assignnts. All in all, it was a ss, and there were even three or four students standing inside.
When Zhou Yuwen entered the office, a female student who had co to see a teacher noticed him. From the look in her eyes, she clearly recognized him, and she kept staring.
You Changjin was slacking off over there, yawning. It looked like he had suffered another sleepless night.
Zhou Yuwen walked over and simply said, "Teacher, I am back from my leave."
Seeing Zhou Yuwen, You Changjin reacted with exaggerated surprise, "You are back from Shanghai!?"
With that shout, the other teachers imdiately turned their attention to Zhou Yuwen.
Zhou Yuwen was speechless, thinking to himself, 'You are a teacher, for crying out loud. Show at least a little maturity.'
But it could not be helped; that was just his personality.
Many teachers looked up to glance at Zhou Yuwen. A female university teacher in her thirties even walked over in her high heels, teacup in hand, to examine him from up close.
There were many beautiful female teachers in the university, but there were even more who were not particularly pretty—just ordinary. They wore glasses, had perd hair, carried a sowhat academic aura, and had rather slender figures.
Female teachers of this type tended to be rather bourgeois. They considered themselves to be artistic, literary young won and naturally possessed a fondness for intellectuals.
For soone like Zhou Yuwen—handso and having achieved financial freedom through writing novels—these female teachers naturally wanted to get close to such a student.
To be honest, it was not uncommon for certain female university teachers to use their positions to date young, handso male students.
This was especially true for those won who wore glasses, acted very pretentious, and carried an unapproachable deanor.
Sotis, won of this type were more coquettish than anyone else.
You Changjin appeared genuinely thrilled to see Zhou Yuwen. After all, as a teacher, who would not want their students to succeed? Regardless of what future developnts Zhou Yuwen might have, his current achievents already made him a rare gem among all the students You Changjin would ever teach in his lifeti.
So You Changjin began to put on airs. He wiped his glasses and sighed emotionally, "Little Zhou, seeing what you have achieved today brings
great comfort as your teacher."
Zhou Yuwen chuckled lightly and said, "A couple of days ago, I saw Chang Hao post a form in the group chat. I was in Shanghai at the ti and did not have the chance to fill it out."
"Oh, that? Do not worry about it, I filled it out for you," You Changjin said with a smile.
In reality, Zhou Yuwen had no other business in the office. He just needed to notify You Changjin of his return and then he could leave.
However, You Changjin had sothing else he wanted to discuss with Zhou Yuwen.
Regarding Jiang Xinyi.
But unexpectedly, that female teacher from the neighboring class...
...had wandered over to his side at so point. She was now standing nearby, pretending to examine the student assignnts he had left on his desk.
Seriously, what was there to even look at?
"Teacher Yuan, do you need sothing?" You Changjin finally could not help but ask.
"Oh, nothing," Teacher Yuan pushed up her glasses. Then, taking the initiative, she turned to Zhou Yuwen and asked, "You are that student who writes novels and makes over a million a month, aren't you?"
Hearing this, Zhou Yuwen could not help but laugh. He turned to You Changjin and asked, "Am I really that famous?"
You Changjin also smiled. "You have no idea. Our office has been talking about you for the past few days. They all praise my good fortune in being able to teach a student like you."
With Teacher Mo initiating the conversation, the other teachers in the office who had been keeping an eye on Zhou Yuwen also chid in. A female teacher with a baby face asked, "It really is you! Hey, did you just make a million this month, or will you be making a million every month from now on?"
"What genre of novels do you write?"
"What is the title? Let
look it up."
At that mont, all five teachers in the office were speaking to Zhou Yuwen.
Teacher Yuan, who had spoken first, pushed up her glasses again. She was the type of teacher who put on airs among her peers. She was actually quite decent-looking, wearing a shirt paired with an over-the-knee pencil skirt. Compared to the others, her question was much more profound, "Is this one million before or after taxes?"
Zhou Yuwen replied, "It is before taxes. After taxes, it probably does not amount to a million."
The other teachers continued asking questions one after another. There had originally been three or four female students in the office who had co to ask their teachers for academic help, but they were now completely ignored.
They looked at Zhou Yuwen with gazes tinged with envy.
After all, what student did not want to be the center of their teachers' attention?
Zhou Yuwen, however, appeared very calm as he answered the teachers' questions one by one.
Teacher Yuan looked at Zhou Yuwen with a hint of admiration in her eyes, ntioning that she also enjoyed writing a little sothing in her free ti.
"Let us add each other on WeChat," she suggested. "I will send you what I have written, and you can take a look for ."
Zhou Yuwen let out a surprised gasp. The request was quite sudden. He replied, "Uh, actually, my skill level is just average. Web novels are different from traditional literature. With your level, Teacher, your writing is definitely superior to mine."
Teacher Yuan chuckled, giving Zhou Yuwen a look that left him utterly baffled. She said, "For you to be so popular online, you must have so extraordinary qualities."
"I quite like literature. Let us add each other on WeChat; we can exchange ideas from ti to ti."
Zhou Yuwen felt a bit awkward. The other teachers, however, acted as if they were watching a good show, exchanging aningful glances and smiling silently among themselves.
At the critical mont, You Changjin stepped forward. He interjected, "Teacher Yuan, please do not make things difficult for my student. I still have matters to discuss with him!"
With that, he grabbed Zhou Yuwen and hurried out of the office.
Seeing that Teacher Yuan had not followed them, he breathed a sigh of relief, stating that he had finally shaken her off.
"This Teacher Yuan from the office is a difficult character," You Changjin warned. "She is thirty-two and still unmarried. She does not get along well with others in the office and likes to post baffling things on her WeChat Monts, acting as if no man is worthy of her. You had better not provoke her."
You Changjin had pulled Zhou Yuwen to the floor-to-ceiling windows at the end of the corridor, speaking as he pulled out a cigarette.
He had originally intended to smoke it himself, but as if suddenly rembering Zhou Yuwen, he offered the first cigarette to him.
Zhou Yuwen waved his hand, declining and stating he did not smoke.
Zhou Yuwen's impression of You Changjin had always been that of a fair-skinned, slightly chubby man—a bespectacled good guy. Yet, during this eting, You Changjin was actually smoking.
This took Zhou Yuwen sowhat by surprise.
He watched as You Changjin undid the top two buttons constricting his neck, skillfully lit the cigarette, and took two drags.
"Phew, they blast the heating in the office every day. I am suffocating," You Changjin grumbled.
Observing his increasingly practiced deanor, Zhou Yuwen chuckled lightly and asked, "When did you pick up smoking?"
Only then did You Changjin seem to realize the cigarette in his hand. He let out a bitter laugh and confessed, "Yuwen, I am truly feeling awful."
It had been almost a month and a half since You Changjin and Jiang Xinyi broke up. If one were to ask whether he had moved on, You Changjin could be considered to have done so. Yet, whenever Jiang Xinyi was ntioned, it still hurt him.
He had no one else around him to confide in; the only person who could be considered sowhat familiar with Jiang Xinyi was probably Zhou Yuwen.
Just a few days ago, You Changjin had even bumped into Jiang Xinyi on campus.
"Is she still working at your company?" You Changjin asked.
Zhou Yuwen nodded and offered, "If you are not comfortable with it, I can fire her?"
You Changjin hurriedly waved his hands. "No, do not. She did join your company because of , but I do not want to affect your professional relationship because of my own issues."
"Xinyi is a good girl, and her work capabilities are very strong. Since she likes working at your place, please help
take good care of her," You Changjin said from the bottom of his heart.
Zhou Yuwen chuckled, asking if he was letting it go that easily.
You Changjin sighed, "What else can I do but let go?"
"What is love in this world, that it makes people vow to stay together through life and death?"
You Changjin lanted. He took off his glasses and wiped the dust off the lenses. He then ntioned that he had been reading Zhou Yuwen's novel.
He thought it was written quite well.
"You have a talent for this, so you should develop it well. Employnt in our major is still a bit difficult. If you ever need anything in the future, just let
know. I will definitely help with whatever I can," You Changjin said, patting Zhou Yuwen on the arm.
Zhou Yuwen nodded, acknowledging his words.
"If there is nothing else, I will be going then?"
"Yeah, go ahead. I will head back after I finish this cigarette," You Changjin nodded.
Just as Zhou Yuwen was about to leave, You Changjin ultimately could not help but call out to him.
Zhou Yuwen asked him what was wrong.
You Changjin hesitated for a mont before saying, "When you see Xinyi... could you tell her not to hide whenever she sees ? Even if we cannot be lovers, we can still be friends..."
Zhou Yuwen could not help but let out a soft laugh. "Why don't you just tell her yourself?"
"I want to tell her, but she deleted all my contact information. Whenever she sees , she just turns and walks away." You Changjin sighed.
Zhou Yuwen stated, "Then you must have spouted a lot of nonsense to her."
You Changjin's expression grew complicated, not knowing what to say.
Zhou Yuwen smiled. "Alright, I will talk to her when I see her. I will tell her that if she dares to ignore you again, I will fire her."
You Changjin hastily pleaded, "Do not put pressure on her..."
"Actually, she could find a better job... Your job is just a bit easier..."
"Oh, it seems Teacher You still looks down on my company," Zhou Yuwen teased.
"No, no, I do not."
You Changjin was truly an honest man. Zhou Yuwen teased him a bit more and then stayed to keep him company until he finished his cigarette before leaving.
After You Changjin returned to his office, he found that several female teachers from the neighboring offices were also there.
"Hey, where is your author student? Why did he leave?"
"Yeah, we specifically ran over to take a look, to see what kind of student could captivate the girls in our college like this."
"Exactly. Little You, you are being no fun at all."
"Ladies, please do not bully my student, okay?" You Changjin pleaded, bringing his hands together in a begging gesture.
anwhile, Zhou Yuwen left the administration building by himself. While taking the elevator down, he heard two girls whispering to each other.
"That is him."
"Who?"
"The author."
"The author? Where?"
Evidently, Zhou Yuwen was not known to absolutely everyone; there were still students who did not know who he was. The second girl's loud reaction made the girl who was trying to whisper very embarrassed.
Fortunately, Zhou Yuwen was good-natured and simply smiled.
He turned around and stepped out of the elevator.
His first day back at school felt quite alright. Although becoming a celebrity had sowhat affected his life, it was not a huge problem.
Driving his black BMW X7, he passed through the teaching buildings and past the first cafeteria. On the parasol tree-lined path heading toward Pioneer Park, he ran into the woman in the cheongsam whom he had seen at the school gates earlier.
The woman in the cheongsam seed to have encountered so difficulties. At first glance, she was clearly soone used to living a pampered life who rarely walked long distances. She had not expected the university to be so massive. After elegantly taking just a few steps in her high heels...
...the heel of her sheepskin stiletto broke off.
Now, this elegant lady was left in a very awkward position.
She was half-crouching by the roadside, staring at her broken heel, montarily at a loss for what to do.
After all, she was a wealthy older sister who owned a Maybach.
Even if she was an older woman past her pri.
Zhou Yuwen did not mind showing off his gentlemanly deanor.
Thus, his BMW X7 slowly pulled up beside the wealthy lady.
"Auntie, what is wrong?" Zhou Yuwen asked as he rolled down the window.
Jiang Xinyi's mother, Liu Jing, was in a mont of distress. She had briefly crossed paths with Zhou Yuwen at the school gates earlier, so encountering him again did not feel like eting a total stranger. She replied, "Young man, the heel of my shoe suddenly broke."
The more pampered a woman was, the more easily she would get flustered when encountering seemingly trivial issues like this. After all, there were tis when they simply could not let go of their elegance.
She could not possibly be expected to take off her heels and walk back barefoot, could she?
Zhou Yuwen parked the car on the side of the road and took out a pair of cotton slippers he kept handy in the trunk.
"Here, Auntie, why don't you put on these slippers first?"
Zhou Yuwen's trunk was very well-equipped. It not only held cotton slippers but also a small stool.
In Liu Jing's most embarrassing mont, Zhou Yuwen was able to offer her the utmost dignity.
This imdiately earned him a great deal of favor from Liu Jing. She looked at the young man before her—he was tall and large, with a very upright posture, much more robust than her own driver, Xiao Li.
Zhou Yuwen set up the small stool and even supported Liu Jing as she sat down on it.
Liu Jing slipped off her broken high heels.
Her small feet, clad in flesh-colored pantyhose, slid into the cotton slippers. Sure enough, these slippers were far more comfortable than high heels.
Liu Jing breathed a sigh of relief. Her gaze softened considerably as she looked at Zhou Yuwen. "Young man, thank you so much. If it were not for you, I truly would not know what to do."
Zhou Yuwen smiled and said, "It is just a small effort on my part. Where are you heading, Auntie? I can tell you do not visit our campus often, and it is actually quite large. Are you looking for your child? The dormitories should be in that direction."
Sitting on the small stool, Liu Jing sighed and explained that she had co to see her daughter.
"My daughter works in your school's Pioneer Park. I just wanted to see her working environnt. Who knew the roads in your school would be so difficult to walk on."
Hearing this, Zhou Yuwen could not help but give an awkward chuckle, remarking on what a coincidence it was.
"I happen to be heading to Pioneer Park myself. How about you ride in my car, Auntie?"
Liu Jing was naturally willing. As a wealthy lady, trudging all the way here from the school gates in high heels had already been an arduous task. With Zhou Yuwen offering a helping hand at a ti like this, how could she refuse?
However, she still maintained her politeness, asking, "Is that alright? Won't it be too much trouble for you?"
"Not at all, Auntie. It is on my way," Zhou Yuwen replied with a faint smile.
