"What do you an, what kind of people do I take you for? Wasn't this exactly what you two had planned to do all along?"

In truth, Zheng Yanyan was simply too terrified of losing Zhou Yuwen. Combined with the dead of night, her mind was currently a ss of irrational thoughts. In her head, Chang Hao and Su Qing were conspiring to fra her!

Little did she know, the words she just spat at Chang Hao brought him an imnse amount of pain!

He had been overjoyed, thinking that Zheng Yanyan had finally seen the light. He never expected her to remain so stubbornly delusional from start to finish.

"Do you still refuse to believe it?" Chang Hao asked, his voice laced with heavy disappointnt. "He was in the sa room with Su Qing. How can you still refuse to believe that Zhou Yuwen betrayed you?"

"Stop spouting bullshit! How could Zhou Yuwen betray ? Su Qing already confessed everything to . It was obvious she was just trying to fra Zhou Yuwen. Every single one of you is no good! You just can't stand seeing

and Zhou Yuwen happy together! Just tell

right now, are you going to help

or not?!" Zheng Yanyan demanded angrily.

Chang Hao fell silent for a mont. He had no idea what kind of dark magic Zhou Yuwen possessed to drive Zheng Yanyan to such utter madness.

He finally spoke. "I will not help you with this. Framing others is wrong."

"Yanyan, haven't you noticed? You are not even yourself anymore," he continued.

"The Yanyan I know is optimistic, confident, and generous. She would never be as lost and desperate as you are right now."

"Yanyan, Zhou Yuwen is truly not a good person. I don't know if he has anything going on with Su Qing, but he is definitely not clean when it cos to Lu Lin."

"It is best if you distance yourself from them."

That final ssage, however, was never sent.

Because Zheng Yanyan had blocked him.

Zheng Yanyan reaching out to Chang Hao had been a mont of sheer panic, treating a dead horse as if it were still alive in a desperate gamble. Not only did Chang Hao refuse to help, but he even had the audacity to slander Zhou Yuwen and her best friend.

After all, the only person Zheng Yanyan could rely on right now was Lu Lin.

Even if what Chang Hao said was true, what could she possibly do about it?

Therefore, the kind of betrayal Chang Hao suggested was entirely impossible in her mind.

Since he refused to help, what was the point of keeping his contact? Why not just delete him?

Staring at the notification that he had been deleted by Zheng Yanyan once again, a wave of bitterness washed over Chang Hao. But on second thought, life was full of bitterness. He ought to be used to it by now.

With a heavy sigh, Chang Hao pulled out another Xuanhen cigarette.

When a person first experiences a broken heart, they always do foolish, irrational things. At the ti, these actions seem incredibly moving to themselves, but long after the fact, looking back on those monts, they would find them utterly embarrassing to even ntion.

The things Zheng Yanyan said to Chang Hao tonight were destined to beco a dark, cringeworthy stain on her personal history.

Never mind the distant future; the very next morning when she woke up and recalled the incident, the regret washed over her.

Zheng Yanyan hardly wanted to rember it at all. 'Why did I even think of saying sothing like that?' she thought to herself. It was obviously an impossible scenario; her flimsy lie was riddled with too many holes.

The only person who could truly win Zhou Yuwen back was herself.

So, bright and early that morning, Zheng Yanyan skipped class and rushed straight to Zhou Yuwen's house.

She did not want to co across as too pathetic; she rely wanted to catch a single glimpse of Zhou Yuwen.

To do that, she dialed his phone number.

She claid that she had forgotten to give him the clothes she bought for him during their trip to Suzhou.

"Can I co up and give you the clothes?" she asked.

Using such a flimsy excuse, Zheng Yanyan desperately hoped she could just see him one more ti.

"Oh, I haven't changed the passcode," Zhou Yuwen replied calmly. "You can just head straight in."

A spark of joy flared in Zheng Yanyan's chest. 'He hasn't changed the passcode, which must an he still wants to talk things out,' she thought.

However, Zhou Yuwen's very next sentence sent a sudden jolt of panic through her heart.

"But I am not ho right now."

"You aren't ho? Then where are you..."

An intense sense of crisis began to bubble up within Zheng Yanyan. Mostly because she had co over very early in the morning and had not seen Zhou Yuwen leave the house.

Did that an Zhou Yuwen had stayed out all night long?

Zheng Yanyan imdiately suspected that Zhou Yuwen was with another woman.

But Su Qing and Lu Lin were both in the dormitory.

Just as she thought! Chang Hao had dared to claim that sothing was going on between Zhou Yuwen and Lu Lin.

The reality proved that Lu Lin was completely innocent.

But...

For a brief mont, Zheng Yanyan's mind spun wildly out of control. She wanted so desperately to demand where Zhou Yuwen was.

Yet she no longer dared to question Zhou Yuwen with such aggressive interrogations.

After all, they were currently in a cooling-off period...

If she were to ask such a demanding question...

"Sothing ca up suddenly, so I am out," Zhou Yuwen explained simply.

"Oh, then I will bring the clothes up for you," Zheng Yanyan said weakly.

"Okay."

And so, Zheng Yanyan brought the clothes upstairs. Staring once more at what used to be her "ho," she truly could not bear to part with it. She had lived here for three months; she had long since considered this place her ho. She could not imagine a life without Zhou Yuwen, returning to the mundane existence of an ordinary university student. Standing in the middle of Zhou Yuwen's living room, Zheng Yanyan lingered for a long ti, unwilling to leave.

A sudden thought crossed her mind—the reason Zhou Yuwen had broken up with her.

Was it because she had been too lazy?

They had been dating for four months, and Zheng Yanyan had not once taken the initiative to do a single household chore.

Perhaps that was the exact reason.

Zhou Yuwen had told her yesterday that the reason he wanted so space was to focus on achieving sothing great. So, as his girlfriend, wasn't it her duty to help him manage his daily life?

Yes, that was it. She could not cause him any more trouble. She needed to beco a proper, supportive partner who took care of the ho front.

With renewed purpose, Zheng Yanyan set about cleaning Zhou Yuwen's house. She washed every piece of clothing he had, and even took the initiative to go grocery shopping and cook a al. However, after toiling for hours, she finally realized the harsh truth: she truly did not know how to cook. Instead of a warm al, she had only managed to turn the kitchen into an absolute disaster area.

At that exact mont, she finally could not hold it in anymore and burst into tears.

She finally understood why Zhou Yuwen no longer wanted her.

She was just too stupid. She could not even cook a simple al.

She cried until around eight o'clock in the evening. Her original plan had been to keep crying until Zhou Yuwen returned, so he would see her in her weak, helpless state.

Yet, by the ti eight o'clock rolled around, she was still huddled alone in the kitchen, crying her eyes out. Zhou Yuwen had not returned at all.

Zheng Yanyan felt increasingly desolate. Picking up her phone, she began sending voice ssages to Zhou Yuwen. Through muffled sobs and choked breaths, she pleaded, "Hubby, where are you? I miss you so much."

"I cleaned the whole house, and I washed all your clothes."

"I originally wanted to make dinner for you to eat when you ca ho tonight, but I realized... the food I made tastes awful..."

"Hubby, where are you... I miss you so much..."

"Achoo... Hubby, I think I caught a cold. Could you co back and check on ?"

Zheng Yanyan had likely genuinely caught a cold. Earlier, after washing her hair in Zhou Yuwen's bathroom, she had purposefully left it wet without blow-drying it, and she even cranked the air conditioning down to its lowest setting. 'If I get sick, won't Zhou Yuwen feel sorry for ?' she had thought to herself.

It was a pity, however, that Zhou Yuwen never saw her voice ssages. By the ti he actually noticed them, it was already past nine o'clock at night. Glancing at the barrage of notifications pouring in from Zheng Yanyan one after another, Zhou Yuwen did not even need to open them to know what she was whining about.

Of course, he never would have guessed that Zheng Yanyan had purposefully frozen herself into catching a cold.

While Zheng Yanyan was busy bombarding him with ssages, Zhou Yuwen was likely passionately tangled in the sheets with Qu Jing at his place.

The bed he had ordered in the afternoon was promptly delivered that very evening.

A premium bed worth over thirty thousand yuan was undeniably far sturdier than that old, broken fra.

There was absolutely no more creaking or squeaking to be heard.

That being said, Qu Jing's outfit today genuinely made Zhou Yuwen's heart flutter. Her cropped T-shirt tightly stretched across the generous curve of her bust, while her snug denim shorts clung firmly to her thighs, perfectly highlighting the sensual curves of her body.

As night fell, Zhou Yuwen brought Qu Jing into his arms, laying back onto the brand-new mattress.

Qu Jing had never imagined that, right as she was about to graduate from university, she would actually find a partner who satisfied her in every way. He was handso, and he was wealthy.

More importantly, he truly doted on her.

Qu Jing wished she could offer herself to him completely, every single second of the day.

And so, the two of them lay nestled in the bed for a while.

Cradling the back of Qu Jing's head, Zhou Yuwen rolled over and captured her lips in a deep kiss.

Qu Jing, who had surrendered her body and soul entirely to Zhou Yuwen, naturally closed her eyes and lted into the kiss.

With just a brief mont of intimacy, Qu Jing could not help but tightly clench her legs together.

It seed...

That she was about to...

Later that evening, Lu Lin gave Zheng Yanyan a call.

She asked where Zheng Yanyan had gone.

In response, she only heard Zheng Yanyan constantly coughing on the other end.

A spark of curiosity flickered in Lu Lin, and she asked where she currently was.

Zheng Yanyan answered with a terribly weak voice, "I... I am at Zhou Yuwen's house."

"Oh, did you two make up?"

"No, we didn't. I don't know where Zhou Yuwen went..." Zheng Yanyan sounded incredibly pitiful. She coughed twice before continuing, "Lin... Linlin, I... I think I caught a cold. Zhou Yuwen isn't replying to my ssages. I... I miss him so much."

"Could you help

talk to him? Can you persuade him to get back together with , please? I really, really love him. I can't live without him," Zheng Yanyan pleaded through her tears to Lu Lin.

Then, after hanging up the phone, Zheng Yanyan broke down crying once again and sent another voice ssage to Zhou Yuwen. "Zhou Yuwen, can you please talk to ? I... I think I'm sick with a cold. I'm right here at your house. Just reply to , okay? Just one text... I promise I'll be good..."

It was only after receiving a phone call from Lu Lin that Zhou Yuwen learned about Zheng Yanyan catching a cold, which left him feeling utterly helpless.

He had already wrapped his arms around Qu Jing and was preparing to go to sleep.

But after listening to Zheng Yanyan's heart-wrenching, pitiful voice ssages, Zhou Yuwen ultimately decided to call Lu Lin back. He instructed Lu Lin to stay over at his house tonight and properly take care of Yanyan.

"Please talk so sense into her. Don't let her do anything to hurt herself," Zhou Yuwen said.
