It wasn’t just Zhou Yuwen searching for Tao Tian.
Imagine this: a girl who was just strangling soone in the cafeteria suddenly posts a dramatic apology on the forum, causing an uproar, and then vanishes without a trace. Naturally, Tao Tian’s friends were worried sick, and even her counselor was deeply concerned.
“This kid better not do anything drastic, right?” the counselor muttered anxiously.
It wasn’t an unreasonable fear. In this day and age, plenty of university students beca overwheld by heartbreak, and the school’s infamous, turbulent moat had seen more than its fair share of tragic incidents.
Zhou Yuwen couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable. While his rebirth had brought many changes, he didn’t want to inadvertently alter soone’s fate in such a negative way.
At that mont, Tao Tian was spiraling into her own lodrama. Locked in her dark hotel room, she sat curled up on the carpet, healing her wounds in solitude. She ignored calls from Min Min and even from her counselor. It wasn’t until Zhou Yuwen persistently ssaged her that she finally replied:
“You don’t need to worry about . I just want to be alone for a while. I won’t burden you anymore. Don’t worry.”
Zhou Yuwen was exasperated by her words. Without hesitation, he initiated a WeChat video call.
The purpose of the call wasn’t for a chat but to glimpse her surroundings through the video and confirm her safety.
Tao Tian, startled to see a video call from Zhou Yuwen, felt both anxious and flattered. She quickly wiped away her tears. Her initial thought was to ignore it, but fear got the better of her. What if Zhou Yuwen gave up on her entirely if she didn’t pick up?
After so hesitation, she finally answered.
On the screen, Tao Tian appeared in a white spaghetti-strap dress, likely fresh out of the shower. Her pale face stood out against the darkness of the room.
“Why is it so dark? Where are you?” Zhou Yuwen asked.
Tao Tian shook her head, her eyes still red. She sniffled and replied pitifully, “I’m fine. You don’t need to worry about .”
“Stop wasting ti,” Zhou Yuwen said bluntly. “Tell
where you are. I’m coming to get you.”
“There’s no need. I just want so ti to myself,” Tao Tian said, looking pitiful.
“If you don’t tell , I’m hanging up.”
The firmness in his tone made Tao Tian panic. She hesitated before finally muttering, “I’m at the Ru Jia Hotel.”
Zhou Yuwen asked her to send the exact location and said, “I’ll co over now.”
“Okay, I’ll wait for you,” Tao Tian said softly.
Tao Tian assud Zhou Yuwen would co alone. Her mind drifted to the possibilities, fantasizing about what might happen. However, Zhou Yuwen had no intention of showing up solo.
Considering the scale of the drama caused by Tao Tian’s forum post and her subsequent disappearance, any direct association with her could further damage Zhou Yuwen’s reputation. He called Tao Tian’s counselor, Yao Qian, and inford her of the situation.
“Ms. Yao, Tao Tian is at the Ru Jia Hotel,” he said. “I’m heading there now. Do you want to co along? I can pick you up.”
With Yao Qian agreeing, Zhou Yuwen drove his BMW X7 to fetch her, along with Min Min, who had been equally worried about Tao Tian.
As they got into the car, Yao Qian finally understood why Tao Tian was so infatuated with Zhou Yuwen. It wasn’t just about his wealth—his handso appearance, confident deanor, and air of reliability left a strong impression.
During the drive, Yao Qian couldn’t resist asking about Zhou Yuwen’s connection to Tao Tian. Zhou Yuwen calmly explained that they had t through part-ti work. Min Min, keen to make a good impression on Zhou Yuwen, spoke up to praise his capabilities, describing his entrepreneurial ventures on campus and his role in organizing events with student hostesses.
“No wonder soone like Tao Tian would fall for you,” Yao Qian comnted, clearly impressed.
Once at the hotel, Zhou Yuwen suggested that Yao Qian and Min Min wait in the lobby while he went upstairs to speak with Tao Tian alone.
“Her emotions are unstable right now. Let
calm her down first. Once she’s ready, you can take her back to campus,” Zhou Yuwen said logically.
Yao Qian nodded in agreent, appreciating his mature approach.
Zhou Yuwen knocked on Tao Tian’s door, and she imdiately opened it. She was barefoot, wearing only a bathrobe, and her face lit up when she saw him. Without thinking, she threw herself into his arms.
“I knew you wouldn’t leave !” Tao Tian exclaid.
Zhou Yuwen guided her back into the room, ensuring she didn’t cause a scene. “Let’s talk inside.”
Once inside, Tao Tian clung to him tightly, refusing to let go.
“Enough,” Zhou Yuwen said, gently pulling her hands away. “The entire school is talking about you. It’s ti to stop this.”
“But I...” Tao Tian began, tears welling up again.
Zhou Yuwen interrupted, his tone firm. “I’ve forgiven you, but that doesn’t change anything. I have a girlfriend. You can’t expect
to break up with her and be with you, can you?”
His words silenced Tao Tian. After a long pause, she asked hesitantly, “Does this an there’s still hope if I work hard?”
Zhou Yuwen glanced at his watch. “Get dressed. Your counselor is waiting downstairs.”
Reluctantly, Tao Tian nodded and began to gather her things. Zhou Yuwen left the room, rejoining Yao Qian and Min Min in the lobby.
“She’s getting ready. She’ll be down soon,” he inford them.
At that mont, Zhou Yuwen’s phone buzzed. It was a call from Qu Jing’s team.
The doctor said the issue wasn’t serious, just so minor skin injuries. However, Qu Jing still didn’t feel entirely comfortable after the altercation, and the earlier fight had already worn her out. After evaluating her condition, it was clear that she needed rest.
Lu Hui called Zhou Yuwen to report, “The doctor said it’s nothing major, just superficial wounds. But our team moved Qu Jing’s belongings over, and there probably isn’t ti to clean up her new place tonight. We’ll need to get her a hotel room for the night.”
She added, “Mr. Zhou, you’ll have to reimburse
for this. I don’t have the extra money to pay for the room upfront.”
Lu Hui, being an ordinary working woman, clearly couldn’t afford to cover such expenses herself.
Zhou Yuwen responded calmly, “Alright, I understand. Which hospital are you at? I’ll co over now.”
As he drove, Zhou Yuwen thought about the situation. Letting Qu Jing stay in a hotel seed like a waste of money. Besides, Qu Jing wasn’t exactly an outsider. It just so happened that his place was ready for occupancy. She could spend the night there instead.
