Before committing to Xu Bowen, Liu Yue hesitated. She wondered if things were moving too fast, but Xu Bowen held her tightly, kissing and caressing her, saying he couldn’t hold back anymore.

“Just trust

this once, okay?”

Liu Yue was beginning to waver, and Xu Bowen painted a beautiful future for them. He claid to be a traditional guy, saying he’d introduce her to his parents soon and that they’d get married after graduation.

Liu Yue stayed silent as Xu Bowen started unbuttoning her clothes. The fabric of her blouse, which she’d gotten for 79 yuan on Taobao, wasn’t very durable. With her hesitant consent, Xu Bowen’s persistence paid off, and he eagerly pushed her down on the bed in his small rental room.

Xu Bowen wasn’t exactly experienced, so his moves were clumsy. After he finally won her over, he felt an unexpected sense of pride.

anwhile, Liu Yue cried out in pain, “Bowen, could…could you be a bit gentler?”

Xu Bowen replied, “Call

‘hubby.’ Co on, say ‘hubby.’”

“Hubby, hubby…”

Five minutes later, Xu Bowen was satisfied. Becoming a woman filled Liu Yue with sweetness, and she snuggled into his arms, innocently asking, “Bowen, do you think your parents will like ?”

“Of course, baby, they’ll definitely like you.” Xu Bowen reassured her with kisses.

They whispered sweet nothings to each other for a long ti. In the morning, Liu Yue even bought him breakfast. She said, “You used up so much energy yesterday. Let’s just rest here today.”

“Uh, that’s probably not a great idea. I still have a gig this afternoon, and baby, you’ve only just started your freshman year. Missing too many classes won’t look good,” Xu Bowen coaxed her.

Liu Yue pouted, “What’s there to worry about? There’s a guy nad Zhou Yuwen in our class who never shows up, and he’s fine.”

“Oh, co on, you’re such a good girl. You shouldn’t compare yourself to those bad students,” Xu Bowen teased her. “Be good; go back to class.”

“I have to work hard, too—it’s all for our future,” Xu Bowen added.

To Liu Yue, her boyfriend seed so reliable. He wasn’t as rich or as handso as Zhou Yuwen, but he was grounded and skilled.

Though he didn’t accompany her, Liu Yue happily took the bus back to school. She was just a young girl, and she couldn’t hide her joy.

When she entered the classroom, it was clear to everyone that she was on cloud nine.

Ma Tian and Li Jing teased her, asking why she didn’t return to the dorm last night.

“Bowen and I hung out late last night, so I stayed over at his studio,” Liu Yue replied, blushing.

“Oooh, a studio~”

“Wow, so lucky!”

Ma Tian and Li Jing continued teasing her. Liu Yue was all smiles, though she avoided giving too many details in front of everyone.

Liu Yue said that Bowen was from Ningbo, in the Jiang-Zhe region, and that his family owned a factory, bringing in a few million a year.

“He said he’d introduce

to his parents soon!” she exclaid. “Tian, Jing, I’m just worried his parents won’t like !”

Hearing that Bowen’s family made millions, Ma Tian was genuinely envious, and from that point, Liu Yue kept chattering while Ma Tian and Li Jing listened in silence.

Chang Hao hadn’t slept well the previous night. He stayed awake for a while in class before dozing off on his desk, his thoughts half-wandering.

Liu Yue, who sat behind him, kept chattering away non-stop.

By the last class, everyone was leaving. Liu Yue and her friends were about to go as well, but she kept going on about Bowen. She told them that they’d agreed to live in Jinling after graduation, and that his parents had offered to buy him a place there.

“Tian, Bowen even said he’d ask his parents to get

a job in Jinling, but I turned him down. I said it’s too soon and I don’t want to rely on others,” Liu Yue laughed.

Her roommates weren’t too interested in the conversation. Ma Tian finally couldn’t resist and laughed, “So, did anything actually happen last night?”

“Yeah, Yueyue, were you guys just chatting all night?”

“Oh, you guys are so annoying! Stop asking!”

The classroom was mostly empty now, with only their dorm mates and Chang Hao, who was still slumped over his desk.

After an argunt with Li Qiang that morning, Chang Hao wasn’t in the mood to hang out with him or the others. Even Lu Yuhang had called out “Brother Hao” as he left, but Chang Hao ignored him.

The classroom was better than the dorm, at least there was no Li Qiang there to annoy him—though Liu Yue’s nonstop chatter was testing his patience.

Egged on by her roommates, Liu Yue shyly told them everything.

“It started out as us just holding each other, but he really couldn’t hold back,” she said.

“Oh, Yueyue, you’re so sweet to your boyfriend!”

“You should’ve just helped him out with your hand,” Li Jing laughed.

“What, you can do that?”

“Of course, silly!”

Liu Yue hadn’t thought of that, but it didn’t matter; she’d already committed. After all, they were going to get married soday.

“Bowen is so good to . He told

to focus on my studies while he worked a side job.”

“Wow, that’s great.”

“Bowen wanted to get

a car, but I thought, it’s only a couple of stops—why waste money on a cab when the bus is so comfortable?”

“You’re totally glowing with love right now~”

“Hee hee, you guys will find love too!”

Chang Hao, dozing at his desk in front of them, was only half-listening, his mind occupied with thoughts of Zhou Yuwen and Zheng Yanyan. Despite Yanyan moving in with Zhou Yuwen, Chang Hao held onto a shred of hope.

Yanyan was conservative; maybe she was only staying there.

Maybe nothing happened.

“Duration doesn’t matter. What’s important is that I feel he loves ,” Liu Yue replied to Ma Tian and Li Jing.

Maybe Yanyan just stayed over.

“Oh, co on, they’re young, alone, and dating—it’s bound to happen,” Liu Yue added, blushing.

“Could you just shut the hell up?!”

Chang Hao couldn’t hold it in any longer. He suddenly bolted up, shouting at Liu Yue, glaring at her in frustration. Each ti he tried to find sothing to reassure himself, Liu Yue’s words tore it down.

Chang Hao felt like she was rubbing it in just to ss with him.

His sudden outburst stunned everyone.

Glaring at her, Chang Hao barked, “Are you seriously that gullible?! Just because he says he’ll be responsible, you believe him? That guy’s just a sleazeball! He’s playing you, and all he wants is to sleep with you! You think he actually loves you? If a guy truly loves you, he’ll treat you with respect even if you’re alone together. You’re being a complete fool!”

Eyes red with rage, Chang Hao continued, “Damn it, can’t even take a nap in peace with you running your mouth.”

With one last glance, he stord out, kicking a chair as he went.

“F***!”

The girls were left speechless.

At the door, Chang Hao paused and turned back. “And another thing—if you believe that ‘I can’t hold back’ crap, you’re even dumber than I thought!”

And with that, he left.

The girls remained frozen in shock.

“Why…why did he get so mad?” Liu Yue murmured, confused.

“Do you think…maybe he likes you?” Ma Tian asked.

“???”

Liu Yue’s mouth dropped, looking at Ma Tian in disbelief.

“Oh, stop with the nonsense,” Li Jing interjected.

“Well, then why would he get so upset? Don’t they say ‘the deeper the love, the sharper the pain?’”

Liu Yue was taken aback for a mont, but then a shy smile crept onto her face. “Co on, he’s from Beijing—there’s no way he likes !”

“Besides, I have a boyfriend. Don’t go spreading rumors. I really like him.”

Even though she said that, a hint of regret lingered in Liu Yue’s heart.
