"Co on, just one more ga!"

Chang Hao pleaded into his headset, not wanting to miss this chance to play with Zheng Yanyan. He wasn’t sure why, but as long as he could play a ga with her, he didn’t mind listening to Zhou Yuwen showing off his relationship.

But Zhou Yuwen didn’t give him a chance, ending the call by telling him to find a girlfriend soon. The ssage was clear:

Zheng Yanyan is my girl.

Don’t even think about it; I know what’s on your mind, but I’m not going to expose you.

The call ended, and the dorm fell silent. The lights were already off, with Li Qiang snoring loudly on the other side. Lu Yuhang was fast asleep, used to the dorm noise by now, his earbuds in.

But at Chang Hao’s desk, a small light was still on.

Taking off his headset, Chang Hao listened to Li Qiang’s thunderous snores, yet it couldn’t drown out the loneliness he felt inside. A bitter sadness filled him, and though he didn’t cry, he felt a sting in his nose and found tears at the corner of his eyes.

“What’s there to cry about?” he muttered, wiping his eyes.

Knowing the ga was over, he took a Xuan He n cigarette to the balcony and tried to light it.

"Click, click."

For so reason, the lighter sparked repeatedly but wouldn’t catch. Frustrated, he shook it hard.

The conversation he’d overheard between Zhou Yuwen and Zheng Yanyan replayed in his mind. He’d heard it all, even Zheng Yanyan’s syrupy "hubby," and the mont she’d said during the ga, “So what if he dies? What does that have to do with ?”

She was talking about him, as if he were a stranger.

But, Yanyan, we aren’t strangers. I t you before Zhou Yuwen. Do you rember how we planned to co to Jinling together, to visit Fuzimiao, to go to Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum? But we never did any of that.

Why?

Thinking about how she’d just said “hubby, you’re amazing,” and then, “Look, this is the gift you bought ,” with all those little murmurs… Even without seeing it, he could picture it. They were definitely kissing. And when he’d asked Zhou Yuwen to play another ga, Zhou Yuwen had replied, “Nope, I’m going to sleep with my girlfriend.”

Are they really sleeping together? Damn it!

Chang Hao couldn’t hold back and kicked the balcony railing hard. The loud noise echoed, and he found it unbearable.

“Zhou Yuwen, you bastard!”

Yanyan is such a great girl!

He rembered the sumr when he’d hinted to her about relationships. She’d said, “Are there any good n in Jinling? I’m not dating anyone. I’ll wait until I graduate.”

“Heh, Yanyan, Jinling isn’t all country folk; I’m here too, aren’t I?” he’d joked. Back then, he and Yanyan had been close.

She’d made a face, “You n are all the sa, only ever thinking about one thing. I’m not dating anyone.”

“Co on, Yanyan, I’m not like other guys. I just want to treat my girlfriend well. Really!”

“I don’t care if you’re serious or not. Even if I do date, I’d never do anything with my boyfriend. I’m saving that for marriage.”

Back then, Chang Hao had thought she was one in a million. If he could win her over in Jinling, he would protect her like a knight guarding his princess.

After coming to Jinling, they’d shared countless mories. They’d played cards together in the cafeteria, and he’d let her win on purpose. She’d laugh until she clutched her stomach, her giggles so contagious.

Chang Hao loved her laughter. She was the most genuine person he knew. In their dorm, Su Qing was too intense, Shen Yu too pretentious, and Lu Lin was practically a rebel. None of them matched up.

Only Yanyan!

Chang Hao looked up at the sky, where the full moon hung high, casting Yanyan’s face in his mind’s eye. To him, she was an angel, her smile radiant.

But—damn it!

Zhou Yuwen’s nothing but a jerk! Su Qing practically gave her life for him, and he has the nerve to call himself a good guy?

Why is it that deep affection always gets betrayed?

It wasn’t fair, and he couldn’t accept it.

He tried the lighter again, “click, click,” but it just wouldn’t work.

"Forget it!" he cursed and threw the lighter off the balcony.

It hit the asphalt below with a bang, bursting briefly into a fla before vanishing. He put the Xuan He n cigarette in his mouth, but his mind was all over the place.

He couldn’t let go of Zheng Yanyan.

He couldn’t let Zhou Yuwen mistreat her.

Even if he had only one chance left.

Just one chance.

Making up his mind, Chang Hao picked up his phone and dialed Yanyan’s number.

Ring… Ring… Ring…

In Zhou Yuwen’s master bedroom, a soft light filtered through the window as a full moon hung in the sky. On the bed, a man was leaning over a woman.

The woman’s hands were tightly wrapped around Zhou Yuwen’s neck, and they were kissing passionately, lost in each other.

So lost that Yanyan’s little feet were stretching in the air, locking around Zhou Yuwen’s waist.

"Mmm..."

Zhou Yuwen kissed her, and she moaned softly. Her pink silk nightgown had slipped down to her arms, revealing her creamy shoulders and soft arms, caught between revealing and concealing.

Zhou Yuwen’s hand slid down to Yanyan’s waist, then lower, caressing her round curves and smooth thighs.

But her phone kept ringing.

"The grey sky, your face... After love, tears, laughter, and pain, only goodbye remains…"

At first, they ignored it, lost in the mont, but the song just kept playing, getting on Zhou Yuwen’s nerves.

“Who’s calling this late?” he asked, annoyed.

Yanyan felt the sa. Seeing who it was made her even more annoyed. Are you serious?

She’d kept Chang Hao’s number, thinking she could call him for help if she couldn’t find Zhou Yuwen. And now he was calling her in the middle of the night?

Without a second thought, she declined the call and blocked him.

“Who was it?” Zhou Yuwen asked.

“Don’t worry about it, hubby,” she murmured, snuggling deeper into his arms.

Zhou Yuwen hadn’t really planned to go this far tonight, but when he noticed Yanyan wasn’t stopping him, he couldn’t help himself.

Now, looking at her, he felt a little hesitant. Yanyan was wonderful, sure, but she seed too clingy.

And that was before they’d even slept together. Afterward, who knows what trouble she’d cause?

As he lay there, Yanyan was now almost fully revealed to him, wearing just a pink nightgown and a red Little CK. The nightgown’s buttons had been undone, her bare shoulders exposed, with the top of her nightgown hanging loosely off one arm.

She noticed him hesitating and leaned into his arms, giving him a little kiss. “What are you thinking about?”

“I’m deciding if I should sleep with you.”
