The loud traffic in the streets had already dissipated. Around ten in the morning, the city silently worked through the day. Luellen walked with Sydney on a tight leash. Unlike earlier, the teacup trotted like she was a little princess in a tutu. Her diaper felt snug against her bottom, and her delicate paws were covered in pink shoes.

Luellen didn’t know how long Leander had his brother’s dog. It was just that... Sydney’s effects were all in the tote bag. Could it be that he didn’t know how to care for a prized teacup? It didn’t matter. Luellen just had to make sure Sydney was satisfied with their walk back to the building.

[You have unspent Proficiency points! Use them to improve your health!]

Luellen wondered why the system prompted her all of a sudden. She just looked around and picked up a bench to sit on. Sydney didn’t waste ti mounting her legs and jumping on her lap. It was a perfect mont to rest.

The maiden closed her eyes to look for the system’s tabs. She ntally cycled through them to locate the Proficiency Chart. It had four trees that would unlock a few passive skills the more points she invested in each. Luellen played a few complicated video gas, so she had an inkling of what these were supposed to do. She just didn’t know how they would affect her in the real world.

A total of twenty-five points awaited her. Luellen figured she should put a few on her Endurance. According to the tooltip, it was responsible for her bodily well-being. Running all of these errands needed a strong body. It also unlocked a skill for her... to endure foot pain from her shoes.

In fact, that skill was Luellen’s priority.

"I’m not sure about Charisma right now. I think I don’t need Sydney to like all that much," Luellen whispered. She found a Charisma skill to make her likeable to animals. However, it needed ten points to unlock. [Numbing Heels] only used three.

"How about this one?" She looked through the first-tier skills for Dexterity. "I should be able to run fast, regardless of footwear. Hm... [Magic Reflex] sounds fun, too."

Luellen seed happy with her settings. She reserved three points for ergencies. Her unlocked skills were [Numbing Heels], [Sturdy Boots], [Magic Reflex], [One Plus One], and [Spellchecker]. She needed more points to gain the next one.

Her eyes opened, and she looked down at Sydney. The teacup stared at her as if she were offending the dog. Luellen then rembered to give her treats and feed her water.

"Ms Piper?" Luellen heard Houston’s voice from afar. She looked up and found the man pulling up at the street side. He had the window rolled down. "Why are you out here?"

"I’m walking Sydney back to the Towers." Luellen carried the teacup. "Are you heading there now?"

Houston opened the passenger’s door in response. Luellen gathered Sydney’s things and got in the car. She almost propped the dog on her lap. "May I ask why you’re only coming to work at this hour?"

The man drove to the Towers. "Leander asked to visit soone in particular. I an, Mr Wentworth. Well, if you’re working in our office, you should know that we call him by na. His brother and his father co to the office from ti to ti. He didn’t want the confusion."

"Okay." Luellen discreetly drumd her finger on Sydney’s back. She then turned to Houston’s neutral face. "Uhm, Mr Houston. My supervisor didn’t like my transfer. She sent soone else in my stead. But I still went to find you... so I t Mr Leander and Sydney. I hope you’re not angry."

"I did process that transfer, but it was Galaxy’s responsibility to handle the intern." Houston only glanced at her. "She insisted that the office needed a certain kind of person. If she swapped people, that would be between her and Leander."

Luellen pursed her lips. She stroked Sydney’s back, which tickled the teacup. "So you won’t say anything against it?"

Houston glanced at her. "Not really. I can form an opinion and get upset, but Galaxy doesn’t value my input. She barely does what Madam Henny tells her. Only Leander can overturn her decisions. I’m just saving myself from the headache. But... if you want my honest opinion... that bitch doesn’t like anyone Leander handpicks. If Madam and I worked in his office any later than her, she would have gotten us fired."

"I see... so there’s a chance Mr Leander will listen to her and fire ?"

"I don’t know. He listens to all our inputs, but he only heeds the one that offers the most benefit to the situation. We learned not to challenge his favor." Houston sighed. "At least Madam and I did."

Luellen nodded off to the answer. She kept her mouth shut as they entered the parking building. They got off on the fifteenth floor and walked to the exclusive elevator.

It was almost eleven when Luellen and Houston reached the CEO’s office. When they walked in, Galaxy and Shirley eyed them heavily. Madam Henny didn’t pay attention to them as if their presence were natural. Perhaps the only problem was that Shirley occupied the table arranged for Luellen.

"Leander, I’ve arrived with Ms Piper and Sydney." Houston knocked twice before speaking. He then opened the door and entered with Luellen.

"Leave what you need on the table." Leander worked behind a mountain of paperwork. He was reading through folder after folder of contracts and proposals. He didn’t even look up to find them.

Houston went to a second table at the side and brought new files on top. He even worked on organizing them so they wouldn’t fall over.

Luellen stayed standing in front of the desk. She hugged Sydney, who was pretty satisfied with her hold. She watched Houston work and leave as if no one else was in the room. The maiden looked at Leander again. "Mr Leander, I’ve brought Sydney to the vet for her shots and walked her for the morning. Where do you want next?"

"You’re supposed to clean the office before I get here. Henny had done it, so make sure to attend to that tomorrow." Leander still didn’t look up. "For now, keep Sydney company. You can also find sothing to do in the ensuite."

"Okay, sir." Luellen brought Sydney down on the cozy couch. Her tote bag sat next to the balled-up dog. Luellen also figured she could leave her bag with it.

She entered the ensuite, which was hidden behind a false wall with a small knob. It didn’t lose out to a hotel restroom. Luellen didn’t know if she had to clean such a sparkling place. The only traces of use were the thinning roll and the used rug. Unless she was called to de-clog the toilet, she didn’t have anything to do there.

Luellen pulled back and watched Leander on his desk. His brows furrowed at whatever he was reviewing.

She felt so invisible.
