"I missed you, m-mom," Michael said, crouching down in front of the tombstone.

"It's pretty lonely now... I kind of understand what you ant when you said I should settle down. The lonely life doesn't suit as much as I thought." He let out a chuckle.

"Guess what? I died as well. Stupid accident, nothing too serious..." He trailed off. "But I'm back, and I'm very strong now, Mom."

"No girlfriend yet, sadly. Grandchildren will have to wait," Michael added with a shaky voice.

It had been so long since he had last been to this place, and now that he had been given such an opportunity, he was beginning to regret it.

Why give him such power, only to take away the mories of everyone who knew him?

"I don't know what to do, Mom. I'm lost..."

—Hey, get this guy on cara!

—Dude! Look at his fucking wings, they are so cool!

—What's the na on that tombstone?

Too far. Michael shot up from the ground and glared at every single person present.

There were several helicopters above him, and at the sa ti, hundreds of people who had broken into the cetery just to see him.

It repulsed him, but killing them would be too drastic.

Therefore, he rely enveloped them in his mana and proceeded to send them to so brothel off on the coast of xico.

He found out about it from a friend... Definitely.

Nonetheless, Michael cleared his throat and crouched back down.

As he did, he suddenly cast Purify—just a much more enhanced version of it.

The tombstone soon beca squeaky clean, and he felt satisfied.

And, of course, sad.

His mother had died while he was deployed—and to a lung disease, no less.

She was the most important woman in his life, and he was top of the class solely to hear her encouragent.

Even joining the military was part of his plan to make a na so his mother could praise him.

But in the end, it felt like every step forward ca with two steps backward.

Michael could not even make it back in ti for the funeral.

Tears began streaming down his face again as he felt utterly helpless.

All this power—could he truly not do anything?

And that was exactly what he decided to find out, casting a massive do of light and completely obstructing visibility from the outside.

At the sa ti, as if obsessed, Michael placed his hands on the soil and swiftly began digging.

He knew it was useless since the concept of a soul existed, but he still wanted to try.

Michael wanted to try reviving her.

After a few monts of digging, he finally hit the coffin, and in the very next mont, he took it out.

Then, with heavy hesitation, he opened it up and glanced at the dust scattered around.

However, there was a fragnt of a bone left, and that would be enough for Michael to try doing sothing stupid.

He enveloped the fragnt with his mana, connecting it straight to his god core.

And in the very next mont, sothing extrely surprising happened.

The bone began growing outward—forming a foot, then a leg, two legs, a waist, hands, a head.

A full body was ford in re monts.

However, it seed like his mana was not finished doing its job, soon, flesh and skin began appearing.

After it was done, Michael stared at what had turned out from the single bone.

It was his mother's body, as rejuvenated as his father's.

But the only problem was—she was still dead.

I won't give up here, he thought with determination, focusing closer, his mana thoroughly searching for each and every possible clue he could use.

And soon, he halted.

There was a single, extrely faint trace of mana leading upward into the sky.

Michael decided to trace it with his own mana, and while he expected the process to take a while, he certainly did not expect it to last longer than five minutes.

However, five minutes passed... then thirty... then an hour... then eight.

His mana traveled millions of tis faster than the speed of light, yet it still took that long.

But once he reached the end of the trail, he found sothing unexpected.

There was a set of gates in front of him, and it felt like he could touch them.

At the sa ti, he also spotted another presence right by the gates—so kind of winged creature, likely an angel, sitting idly by and reading a newspaper.

In the very next mont, however, he saw so kind of blue, gassy ball approach the angel.

The angel stood up in response and headed toward the gates before seemingly opening them.

And as the gates swung open, the blue, gassy ball was sucked in as though into a vacuum.

Is that supposed to be heaven...? Is that where my mother is? Michael thought, trying to peer further in.

However, a certain pressure was blocking him, so he decided to take matters into his own hands.

Keeping the do of light active, he conjured a warm coat and draped it over his mother's lifeless body.

At the sa ti, he created another protective barrier just to be safe.

As he finally finished, Michael proceeded to imagine himself traveling to the place he had just seen.

To his surprise, it worked, and he felt himself slowly moving over there.

Thankfully, I worked extra, so Pardoth will probably let it slide if I miss a day due to personal reasons. Michael thought, trying to accelerate his travel.

But it did not work—all he managed to do was make himself dizzy sohow.

Therefore, he waited out the eight hours until, eventually, he arrived in a strange place completely surrounded by clouds.

Yet as he focused on those clouds, he found out they were nothing but masses of mana.

As for the gates in the distance? They were golden and seemingly calling to him.

Michael approached even closer, and that was when the angel sitting beside the gate took notice of him.

Yet upon seeing that Michael was in his own body—and definitely not a soul—a look of horror appeared on the angel's face.

"P-Please get out of here... If they find out soone found the Garden of Souls, then I'll be tortured for eternity in hell..."

"I won't tell anyone if you let pick out a soul. It's an ergency," Michael said with a soft yet nacing smile.

"A s-soul? I'm afraid you can't do that," the angel quickly refused him. "Souls go in, but they never co out."

"According to whom?" Michael asked sternly.

"The laws of the world... sir," the angel replied with a hiccup. "No one but God can bend those laws... I apologize."

"I see. God? Right..." Michael let out a chuckle. "Let in."

"Huh? But—"

"I said let inside," Michael cut the angel off and approached the golden gate, putting his hands on it. "Unless you want to pry the gates open myself?"

"No!" The angel dashed toward the gates, a panicked look on its face. "Please, sir, I don't know how you found this place, but if you go inside, there is no coming out—even for you."

"We'll just have to see about that," Michael said and summoned a golden sword, threatening to slice open the golden gate.

That was when the angel finally gave in.

The golden gates slowly creaked open, and as they did, Michael did not feel the pull or anything of the sort. Therefore, he rely walked forward.

"Huh?" The angel let out a shocked gasp. "H-How!? How are you walking there!?"

"Magic." Michael did not elaborate as he walked further in.

The further away he got from the golden gates, the more he could feel his mana.

But there was one more addition—he finally caught onto the strand of his mother's soul again.

Despite the space seeming endless, with clouds stretching as far as the eye could see, his mother's soul wasn't far.

After walking only ten ters, he finally arrived in front of it—or so he would like to think.

He could not see anything, yet he could feel that it was there.

Therefore, Michael proceeded to envelop the soul with his mana gently. Despite not being able to see it, he was able to roughly feel its outline.

With careful steps, he made his way back toward the golden gate, which the angel had seemingly closed.

Nonetheless, it did not matter, as Michael rely placed his hands on it and pushed lightly.

The gate swung open effortlessly, until eventually, he ca face to face with the shocked angel.

However, before he could say his goodbyes, the angel suddenly bowed. Discover more content at My Virtual Library Empire

"G-God! I-I-I... We thought you died!"

"God? Is that really the best you can co up with?" Michael chuckled, facing away from the angel. "I'm no god, since if I was, my mother wouldn't be dead in the first place."

"I-I see, sir..." The angel straightened its back before putting on a serious look. "Do you want to take you back... sir?"

"I doubt you could. It took eight hours to get here," Michael replied.

However, the angel rely shook its head. "Sir, I am the fastest in all of the universes... My na is Hers... and I'm the intern at the Garden of Souls."
