He had underestimated Xie Shang, and Xie Liangjiang as well. The father and son of the Xie Family, each with their sches, were ruthless.
Officials from the judicial departnt hurried over and took ng Wenting away.

Xie Liangjiang was still in the sa suit he had worn several days before, now slightly wrinkled at the hem, “Is there any movent from Xie Shang’s side?”
“Not at the mont.”
Song Jin opened the car door, waited for Xie Liangjiang to get in, then closed it and took the driver’s seat, “Heading back to the law firm?”
“Let’s go to Flower Chamber Hall first.”
Xie Liangjiang returned to the Xie Family at Flower Chamber Hall to freshen up and change his clothes—everything from his cufflinks to his lapel pin was custom-made and ticulously selected.
Flower Chamber Hall’s partners’ etings were held every two months, but in the event of a major issue, the law firm’s director could convene a eting at short notice. Heads of dostic branches would co to the headquarters for the eting, while leaders of overseas branches would join via video conference. At ten o’clock sharp, Xie Liangjiang, dressed neatly, appeared at the top floor of the law firm.
Xie Shang, not being a partner, didn’t need to attend the eting. He was in the top-floor lobby, in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows. Its top-floor lobby was spacious and impressive, and from its vantage point, one could see Imperial Capital Bridge and Pearl Lijiang, offering the best views. The whole world seed to lie at one’s feet.
No wonder Xie Liangjiang insisted on this top-floor position.
Xie Liangjiang approached.
Xie Shang turned around, his gaze undisturbed.
“You don’t seem surprised at all.”

Xie Shang hadn’t considered the possibility that ng Wenting could take down Xie Liangjiang. From the mont ng Wenting made his move, Xie Liangjiang was prepared to strike back.

He turned his head and walked towards the grand door of the conference room, straightened his suit, and pushed the doors open with both hands.
The three-hundred-square conference room was packed with people, and unexpectedly, the seat that should have been his was occupied by soone else.

Xie Jiwen chuckled naively, “I’m here to apply for the position of a senior partner.”

The KE Law Firm had already changed.
After the eting ended, Xie Liangjiang called Xie Shang.
“Where are you?”
He replied, “I’m in my uncle’s room.”
Xie Liangjiang returned to the Xie Family and headed straight for Xie Qingze’s room.
Xie Shang was kneeling in front of a morial portrait, with incense burning in a bronze censer, light smoke drifting, filling the room with the scent of sandalwood.
Xie Liangjiang slamd the door shut, “What are you up to by pushing Xie Jiwen forward? You want him to replace ?”
Xie Shang, without shifting his gaze from his uncle, confird calmly, “Yes.”
With disdain, Xie Liangjiang said, “Him?” He had neither respect nor high regard for Xie Jiwen, “He won’t even make it onto the Managent Committee without my approval.”
As KE Law Firm had evolved to its current state, it had beco corrupted, with more salaried lawyers and increasingly comrcialized managent, too much centralization of power, resembling less a law firm and more a hub of capital.
Change was needed, a purge was necessary.
Xie Shang spoke evenly, “Just remove you from the picture.”
With ng Wenting and Xie Liangjiang gone, half the mbers of the Managent Committee would be new, making everything else easier to handle.
The composure on Xie Liangjiang’s face was finally breached as he protested angrily, “Why push him up? Why not yourself? I could tolerate you taking
down, but only you should take over KE. Xie Jiwen is useless; he’ll ruin KE.”
