After buying a bouquet of flowers, they went to the ancient town’s moat to release river lanterns.

In a single evening, they did many of the things they’d been wanting to do for a while.

It was late by the ti they got ho.

Shane Sterling drove Isla Prescott to her apartnt complex. When he parked, he took her hand, unwilling to let her get out of the car.

"When are you going to move in with ?" Shane Sterling asked.

"I think keeping a little distance between us is good for now."

"Well, I don’t."

"What’s wrong with it?"

"I can’t hold you at night. It ruins my sleep."

"But you get all handsy in your sleep, and that ruins *my* sleep."

Shane Sterling imdiately promised, "I’ll keep my hands to myself."

"Do you even believe that yourself?"

Isla Prescott knew better than anyone what he was like in bed.

She wasn’t trying to string him along. It was just that the mory of Shane Sterling’s recent hospitalization was still fresh in her mind, and she felt she couldn’t let him overexert himself just yet.

"Alright, it’s late. I’m getting out. You go ho and get so rest," Isla Prescott said, pushing the door open and stepping out of the car.

Shane Sterling imdiately got out of the car right after her.

"What are you doing?"

"I’m a little thirsty." Shane Sterling said, his hands in his pockets as he glanced up at the building. "I can co up for a glass of water, can’t I?"

He was already at her doorstep. An invitation for a glass of water was indeed hard to refuse.

Isla Prescott said nothing more and led the way upstairs, with him following close behind.

They reached her door. Just as Isla Prescott unlocked it with her key, Shane Sterling suddenly wrapped his arms around her waist from behind. Before she could react, he pulled her into the apartnt.

The door clicked shut. In the next instant, Shane Sterling spun Isla Prescott around to face him and brought his lips down on hers.

Their lips and tongues were a floodgate for desire; the slightest touch was enough to set them both ablaze.

Isla Prescott was locked in Shane Sterling’s arms, kissed until she was breathless.

"Mmph..."

She tried to push him away.

But Shane Sterling only kissed her more fiercely.

After what felt like an eternity, he finally let her go.

Their gasps ca in ragged waves.

Shane Sterling rested his forehead against Isla Prescott’s, a triumphant, wicked smirk on his face.

Isla Prescott couldn’t resist pinching him. "I thought you were just getting a glass of water?"

His hand slid lower. "And aren’t you plenty wet yourself?"

A wave of pleasure shot through Isla Prescott, and she nearly went limp in Shane Sterling’s arms.

Shane Sterling leaned in to kiss her again.

He left Isla Prescott completely dazed, robbing her of any ability to resist.

"Isabelle, stop pretending. You want this too, don’t you?"

While she was leaning limply against him, he scooped her up into his arms and started toward the bed.

As if waking from a dream, Isla Prescott suddenly protested, "The doctor said you’re not supposed to lift anything heavy! Put down, I can walk."

"That was a month ago. I’m completely healed now—I could carry two of you!" Shane Sterling said, bouncing her lightly in his arms. "Don’t worry about . You should be worried about whether you have the stamina to keep up with ."

"Wait! Wait!" Isla Prescott stopped him from putting her on the bed. "Let’s shower first. I sll like grilled fish."

"Fine. We’ll shower together."

Shane Sterling changed course and headed for the bathroom.

The bathroom in Isla Prescott’s rental was pitifully small. The mont a tall man like Shane Sterling stepped inside, he found it difficult to even turn around.

"You should get a new place," Shane Sterling said. He’d long been displeased with her bathroom. "Why torture yourself by living in such a small apartnt?"

"I’m not torturing myself. I’m used to it."

Isla Prescott could certainly afford a better place now, but she’d grown accustod to this one. She felt a small apartnt had its perks; at least she never felt scared sleeping alone at night.

"Well, I’m not used to it."

"What’s it to you?"

"If you won’t move in with , then obviously I’ll have to move in with you. Your ho is my ho. So how is it not my business?"

"So you’re saying I have to buy an apartnt for you, President Sterling?"

"Mhm. You buy the apartnt, I’ll pay for it."

"Has your concussion not healed yet? Why would you make a deal where you lose out so badly?"

"I’m already yours, so what do I care about profit or loss?" Shane Sterling twisted the shower knob, stepping toward her as the water began to spray down. "Just rember to pick a place with a bigger bathroom. It’ll make it easier for us to do... interesting things that require a bit more room to maneuver."
