Genevieve Quincy’s face was ashen, her limbs numb and cold.

"I... I just rembered, my makeup isn’t done yet." It was the only clumsy excuse she could co up with.

"Don’t bother. With a heart like yours, makeup won’t make a difference." Shane Sterling shoved Genevieve Quincy into the center of the venue.

The mont Jocelyn Quincy saw Genevieve, she stord over and slapped her across the face.

"Genevieve Quincy, are you even human?! All these years, I treated you like my own sister. I shared everything good with you—the best food, the most fun, the nicest things. Did I ever leave you out? But you? You plotted against at every turn. What do you take for?"

"Sister! I didn’t!" Genevieve Quincy grabbed Jocelyn Quincy’s arm and explained pitifully, "There must be so kind of misunderstanding! I’ve always thought of you as my real sister, too. I never thought of hurting you!"

"Is that so? Doesn’t your conscience bother you when you say that?" Jocelyn Quincy spat. "Oh, that’s right. Soone like you doesn’t have a conscience to begin with!"

"Sister, you can’t slander like this!" Genevieve started to cry. "I even warned you so many tis not to touch that stuff. You were the one who wouldn’t listen!"

"You bitch! Even now, you’re still trying to pin this on !" Furious, Jocelyn grabbed a nearby bouquet of fresh flowers and smashed it against Genevieve’s face. "On Surfsong Island, you drugged and created the illusion that I was sleeping around with foreigners and doing drugs. Then you reported missing to the police and got sent to the station. That was the first ti! After returning to ritopia, you pulled the sa trick. You secretly put hallucinogens in my coffee, planted drugs in my bedroom, and then deliberately led Dad upstairs to witness overdosing so he’d send abroad. That was the second ti! You thought your plan was seamless, but you were wrong. Wherever a cri is committed, evidence is always left behind!"

Jocelyn Quincy opened a file folder. Inside was a complete chain of evidence detailing Genevieve Quincy’s drug purchases.

She threw all the paper docunts into the air at the engagent party.

Sheets of A4 paper fluttered through the air, each one covered in black and white text—proof of Genevieve Quincy’s cris.

"Did you think that by getting sent abroad in such a disgraceful way, the Quincy Family and the position of its eldest daughter would be yours?" Jocelyn Quincy smiled brilliantly. "Sorry, but I’m back. Your good days are over!"

Jasper Quincy had already been deeply troubled by Jocelyn Quincy’s supposed drug use. Now, learning his own daughter had been frad, rage surged through him.

"You ungrateful wretch! In all the years you and your mother have been in the Quincy Family, I never mistreated either of you in the slightest. And now you dare to harm my only daughter! Call the police! Call the police right now and have this monster arrested!"

Seeing her plot was exposed with no hope of hiding it, Genevieve Quincy imdiately dropped to her knees and begged for rcy. "Dad, I was wrong! I was wrong! For my mother’s sake, please don’t call the police on , okay?"

Rosalind Linden also ran over to plead for her daughter, but Jasper Quincy ignored them completely.

"Don’t call Dad. I only have one daughter, Grace!"

"Dad!"

"Get out!"

Realizing she couldn’t count on Jasper Quincy, Genevieve turned to Shane Sterling.

"Sean! Save !" She crawled to Shane Sterling’s feet and hugged his leg. "Sean, I only did all those terrible things because I like you, because I wanted a legitimate reason to be with you! Please save , won’t you?"

"You may want to be with , but you should have asked if I wanted to be with you. This one-sided attachnt isn’t love, it’s emotional blackmail." Shane Sterling kicked Genevieve away. "And don’t even think for a second that I’ll save you. I still have a score to settle with you."

"What score? I’ve never done anything to hurt you!"

"It would have been better if you had. If you’d hurt , I might have been too lazy to bother with you." Shane Sterling’s gaze on Genevieve turned cold. "But you crossed my line."

Genevieve instantly understood what he was talking about.

His line was Isla Prescott.

***

The marriage alliance between the Sterling and Quincy families had failed once again.

Victor Sterling was so angry he stord off.

As the "groom-to-be" who had been let down by the Quincy Family for a second ti, Shane Sterling’s mood was surprisingly serene. He even stayed behind to help the Quincys clean up the ss from the engagent party.

Jasper Quincy was filled with guilt toward Shane Sterling. He apologized to him several tis and promised he owed him a favor, which was exactly the outco Shane had wanted.

If he ever truly fell out with Victor Sterling one day, Jasper Quincy’s favor would be of great use.

After seeing off all the guests, Shane Sterling also prepared to leave the hotel.

"Shane Sterling!"

Jocelyn Quincy ca chasing after him.

Shane Sterling turned to look at her. "Is there sothing else?"

"You saved again. Thank you!"

Previously on Surfsong Island, it had been Shane Sterling who bailed her out of the police station. This ti, after her father had essentially put her under house arrest abroad, it was also thanks to Shane that evidence was collected back ho, and that he had personally gone overseas to bring her back.

"Don’t ntion it."

With that, Shane Sterling turned to leave.

Jocelyn Quincy quickly moved in front to block him. "Wait. There’s sothing I want to clear up with you."

"What is it?"

"Actually, I never cheated on you. All those so-called photos of with other n were staged by Genevieve."

"It doesn’t matter."

"Can a man really not care about being cheated on?"

"It depends on the person. I don’t like you, so I don’t care."

"You’re so blunt. Am I really that bad?" Jocelyn Quincy winked at him. "I’m not so terrible, you know. Besides, your dad and my dad have always wanted this marriage alliance. Why don’t we give it another try?"

"Don’t you fucking repay my kindness with malice!"

Jocelyn Quincy laughed. "I was just joking. Look how scared you are."

Shane Sterling grew impatient. "Do you have sothing to say or not? If not, I’m leaving!"

"I owe you a favor. How should I repay you?"

"If the Sterling and Quincy families bring up the marriage alliance again, you’d better reject it, even if you have to throw a fit and threaten to hang yourself."

"That’s it?"

"That’s it."

"You have soone you love, don’t you?"

"Yes. And I’m going to find her right now!"
