Natalie Morgan’s brow furrowed coldly. Her gaze shifted to Noelle Bell. "Secretary Bell, you really are Theodore Grant’s good little secretary. Always thinking about the Grant Group. Anyone who didn’t know better would think you were the boss’s wife."

"If you’re resentful because you missed out on a huge bonus, I can understand. But there’s no need to be so passive-aggressive with ."

Secretary Bell’s expression suddenly turned a little awkward.

If that land deal had been signed, she would have indeed received a bonus that was no small sum.

She didn’t deny that was part of the reason she was angry.

But she was unwilling to admit she’d been seen through by soone like Natalie Morgan.

In her mind, even though Natalie Morgan was Mrs. Grant, she was still a cut above Natalie in every respect.

"Mrs. Grant, you have a strange sense of humor. I’ve been by Mr. Grant’s side for years and have long since co to see the Grant Group as my own ho. How could I not be anxious when there’s a problem at ho?"

Secretary Bell stood up and repeated the sa line as last ti. "Mr. Grant is very busy and can’t make ti to be with you. If you need anything, call . I already gave you my business card."

Natalie Morgan said nothing more.

Secretary Bell shot her a glance, then looked away with disdain, preparing to leave the hospital room.

Just then, a nurse ca in to start Natalie Morgan’s IV and stopped Noelle Bell. "One of you family mbers needs to stay. She needs soone to look after her."

"Just have the hospital find a caregiver for her. Add the cost to her hospital bill," Noelle Bell replied coldly before turning to leave.

The nurse couldn’t help but protest, "How can you just leave her like this?"

No one answered her.

The woman on the bed moved her lips. "It’s fine. I can manage by myself."

The nurse didn’t say anything else, just let out a nearly inaudible sigh. After setting up the IV drip, she left.

A burning pain seared across Natalie Morgan’s body.

It felt as if every inch of her skin was broken.

It was uncomfortable to turn over in any direction, so she simply sat up.

She was in a standard ward.

There wasn’t even a bathroom in the room.

Natalie Morgan needed to use the restroom, so she got up and walked out, holding the IV stand herself.

She had only taken a few steps when she heard soone call her na.

"Nattie."

She looked back. It was Mandy Chase.

"Mandy?"

"Are you sick?" Mandy Chase quickly reached out to take the IV stand from her, holding it for her. "Why is no one here looking after you?"

"It’s nothing serious." She glanced at the lunchbox in Mandy Chase’s hand. "Is soone in your family in the hospital?"

"My mother-in-law isn’t feeling well, so Lawson asked to bring her so food. The old lady is an incredibly picky eater," Mandy Chase said casually.

"Older people do tend to have weaker digestions."

"Mr. Grant... doesn’t have ti to take care of you?"

Mandy Chase couldn’t understand it. Theodore Grant was an influential figure in Riverden. Even if he didn’t have ti himself, the least he could do was send soone to look after his sick wife.

To be so completely neglectful was just outrageous.

Natalie Morgan gave a bitter twist of her lips.

Unable to answer, she chose to remain silent.

"Are you going to the restroom?" Mandy Chase steadied the unstable Natalie Morgan. "Do your feet hurt too? I see you’re staggering all over the place."

"I’m fine. Thank you."

Natalie Morgan looked much more haggard.

Mandy Chase’s heart ached seeing her like this. After they returned from the restroom, she went to Natalie Morgan’s room and sat with her for a while.

"Nattie, is Mr. Grant... not treating you well?"

She wasn’t sure if her guess was right.

She truly considered Natalie Morgan her best friend, which was why she was so concerned.

Natalie Morgan didn’t like to share these troubling family matters with others. She rarely even spoke of them with Serena Sutton, her childhood friend.

She didn’t want to burden others or make them upset.

"It’s... just how it is."

"What do you an, ’how it is’?" Her gaze fell on Natalie Morgan’s exposed neck and arms, which were covered in red marks. Her pupils constricted. "Is he... is it dostic violence? Does he hit you?"

"No." She lowered her eyes, hiding the emotions welling up inside her.

Mandy Chase understood at once.

As a fellow woman, how could she not understand her unspoken suffering?

"Divorce him. Seriously. No matter how handso or rich a man like that is, we don’t want him. I can help you find a lawyer."

Mandy Chase’s words were exactly the sa as Serena Sutton’s.

A warmth spread through Natalie Morgan’s chest. "Mandy, Theodore Grant and I... we really aren’t happy. But I can’t divorce him right now."

"Why not? Marriage is a choice now. If he doesn’t want a divorce, then sue him. Is he afraid you’ll take half his assets?"

Natalie Morgan shook her head slightly. "It’s not that."

Mandy Chase watched as Natalie Morgan seed to want to say sothing but held back.

She understood. ’She has a lot of things she can’t talk about.’

She couldn’t help but sigh again. "The other day when you ca to our house, your hand was wrapped in gauze. I should have realized then."

Natalie Morgan remained silent.

Mandy Chase’s heart ached as she squeezed her hand. "If there’s anything I can do to help, just say the word. Seriously, you can’t keep living with a man like that. He’ll ruin your whole life."

The words had barely left Mandy Chase’s lips when Theodore Grant pushed open the door to the room and walked in.

He had heard the last half of what Mandy Chase said.

His expression was ugly.

Mandy Chase looked at him with unprecedented disgust. Without even a greeting, she just said to Natalie Morgan, "Nattie, think carefully about what I said. I’m going to head out now."

"Okay."

After Mandy Chase left, Theodore Grant stared at the woman on the bed with a dark expression.

After a long mont, he finally spoke. "What nonsense have you been telling her?"

Natalie Morgan was stunned.

’It’s not like I said anything, and even if I had, it would have been the truth.’

’What is he accusing of?’

"Is Mr. Grant afraid of his pristine image being damaged? Don’t worry, everyone already knows what kind of person you are."

"What kind of person am I?" His brows knitted together, his face darkening.

Natalie Morgan turned her face away, not wanting to argue with him.

Whenever he was around, even the air grew tense.

Because she never knew when he might just snap.

The best way to deal with such madness was to keep her mouth shut.

Natalie Morgan fell silent.

Theodore Grant just kept looking at her.

One evading, the other pursuing.

Natalie Morgan felt exhausted. "I want to get so sleep."

"Go to sleep. I’ll watch your IV."

’He’d finally said sothing decent. But... they were only words.’

When Natalie Morgan woke up, a nurse was changing her IV bag. "The line’s backed up with blood. Did you fall asleep and forget you were on a drip?"

’Theodore Grant was gone?’

A silent mockery welled up in Natalie Morgan’s heart.

"It’s my fault, too," the nurse said, adjusting the drip rate and writing the ti on the chart with a pen. "I ca by to check earlier and saw soone was here. I assud he would press the call button when it was ti. I didn’t expect him to just leave without saying anything."

"I’m sorry for the trouble," Natalie Morgan said, feeling embarrassed.

The nurse comforted her in turn. "It’s no trouble for . But this can’t happen again. Keep an eye on it yourself, don’t fall asleep. You can sleep after it’s finished."

"Okay."

Natalie Morgan was no longer sleepy.

She stared at her IV until it was empty.

When the nurse ca to remove the needle, she asked, "Can I be discharged?"
