Liu Dan scoffed disdainfully. Her expression was one of arrogant amusent, as if she’d just heard the most hilarious joke in the world.
"A filthy beggar? Are you trying to be funny? A piece of trash like you dares to claim you know the young master of the Jia Family?"
"Whether it’s a joke or not, you’ll find out soon enough," Lin Xiao said indifferently as he started to make a phone call.
Liu Dan snorted. She truly didn’t take a filthy beggar like him seriously. In her eyes, this man was just bluffing. After all, how could a nobody like him possibly know the young master of the Jia Family?
The call connected quickly.
"M-Mr. Lin, is... is that you?" Jia ng’s respectful and excited voice ca from the other end of the phone.
"That’s right."
"Mr. Lin, what can I do for you?"
"Are you busy?" Lin Xiao asked.
"Not busy at all, Mr. Lin! Just give the word!"
"If you’re not busy, co to Bishui Pavilion."
Jia ng was taken aback. "Mr. Lin, are you dining at Bishui Pavilion?"
"Yes."
"What a coincidence, I’m here too!" Jia ng said excitedly.
Lin Xiao chuckled. What a coincidence.
"Alright, in that case, co to Private Room 606," Lin Xiao said.
"Right away!"
Lin Xiao hung up.
Liu Dan said sarcastically, "Yo, filthy beggar, done with your little show?"
Lin Xiao remained silent. Jia ng would be here soon, and the truth would co out.
Everyone’s eyes fell on Lin Xiao, their expressions tense. This was especially true for Qiu Jianping, whose hands trembled as he tried to light a cigarette. After all, the stakes were high. He couldn’t help but be nervous.
"Don’t worry," Lin Xiao said with a smile, seeing everyone looking at him. "This will all be over in one minute."
"Hmph! You filthy beggar, I’ll give you one minute. If after a minute, you—"
Before Liu Dan could finish, her expression changed dramatically. Panic flared in her eyes as she saw Jia ng walking in. However, she quickly regained her composure. Jia ng is my boss, after all. He has to take my side, right?
Everyone else was also stunned. To be honest, when Lin Xiao had said he was going to call the Jia Family’s young master, Qiu Jianping and the others had been skeptical. They doubted he really knew Jia ng. After all, Lin Xiao was at the bottom of the social ladder, while the Jia Family was a second-tier clan in Jinling City. But to their utter amazent, Lin Xiao really did know Jia ng, and a single phone call had summoned him.
Su Qingning wasn’t surprised, as she already knew Lin Xiao knew Jia ng. The Cullinan they were driving now had been bought from him.
Jia ng walked in and headed straight for Lin Xiao. "Mr. Lin, it’s been a while!"
Everyone was stunned once more. It was just a simple greeting, but Jia ng’s attitude was incredibly respectful, as if Lin Xiao were so major figure.
This ti, even Su Qingning was a little taken aback. Lin Xiao had only bought a car from Jia ng. There was no reason for him to be this respectful.
Could it be that Lin Xiao is actually so important figure? The thought had barely crossed Su Qingning’s mind before she dismissed it. How could Lin Xiao be a big shot? If he really were, why would he be willing to live as a beggar? It must be because Jia ng is just a humble person. Yes, that has to be it.
Lin Xiao nodded, then pointed at Liu Dan and asked, "Do you know her?"
Jia ng’s gaze shifted to Liu Dan. He nodded and was about to speak when Liu Dan cut in, her face a mask of disdain. "You filthy beggar, are you out of your mind? Of course my boss knows ! Right, Boss Jia?"
With that, she gave Jia ng a flirtatious smile, clearly trying to butter him up. Jia ng’s expression darkened, however, a hint of disgust flashing in his eyes.
If they weren’t in public, I’d slap her silly! How dare she call Mr. Lin a beggar? She’s courting death. No, I have to fire this idiot imdiately. I can’t let Mr. Lin think I’m associated with her.
"Mr. Lin, I know her," Jia ng said.
"So," Lin Xiao asked with a faint smile, "did she call you earlier?"
Liu Dan panicked. Before Jia ng could speak, she jumped in again. "You filthy beggar! Of course I called my boss! Right, boss?"
Although Liu Dan had been shocked when Jia ng first walked in, not expecting the "filthy beggar" to actually know her boss, her confidence quickly returned. She was Jia ng’s employee. Even if this beggar knew him, surely her boss would take her side. This thought was why she was acting so brazenly.
But Jia ng just scoffed coldly. "Liu Dan, when did you call ?"
Jia ng still didn’t know the full story, but just hearing Liu Dan call Lin Xiao a "filthy beggar" was enough. He knew this idiot was giving Mr. Lin trouble. Even if Liu Dan had called him, he wouldn’t admit to it now—let alone the fact that she hadn’t.
The color drained from Liu Dan’s face, and her eyes filled with panic. She had assud Jia ng would cover for her out of loyalty to an employee. She never imagined he would expose her lie so bluntly.
Noticing her panic, Lin Xiao sneered. "So, Jia ng," he continued, "last night, with the Qiu Jingfeng incident... was it Liu Dan who asked for your help?"
"To answer your question, Mr. Lin, no, it was not!" Jia ng declared emphatically. Jia ng was, of course, aware that the Qiu Family had offended Xue Wenbing the previous night.
At his words, the three mbers of the Qiu Family whipped their heads toward Liu Dan, their eyes burning with righteous indignation. Qiu Jianping and his wife stared with pure hatred. Qiu Jingfeng clenched his teeth, his glare fixed on her.
"Liu Dan, I can’t believe you’re this kind of person. Let’s break up!" he said. The thought that she had orchestrated this entire charade just to scam them was utterly detestable.
"Fine, break up!" Liu Dan barked, her panic suddenly replaced with arrogant defiance. "You think I actually like a pathetic loser like you? Now, hand it over!"
Qiu Jingfeng was so furious he could have spat blood. He had given her his heart and soul, and now she was insulting him like this.
"Hand what over?" Qiu Jingfeng demanded.
"Are you stupid? The breakup fee, of course! Did you think you got to have fun with for three years for free?"
Qiu Jingfeng laughed, a sound devoid of humor and full of rage. This is the woman I loved for three years? I must have been fucking blind.
It wasn’t just Qiu Jingfeng; everyone was stunned by Liu Dan’s shalessness. Lin Xiao laughed the loudest.
Liu Dan shot a furious glare at Lin Xiao. "What the hell are you laughing at, you filthy beggar? I’ll give you sothing to cry about in a minute!"
After spitting out her threat, Liu Dan imdiately started dialing a number on her phone. The call connected almost instantly.
"Brother Bao," she said with a nacing tone, "you can co in now."
