"I liked you the way you were before!" Gu Shiting said.
"Only you liked before. If I lose weight, more people will like . In case you stop liking in the future, I’ll still have other friends. A person shouldn’t hang themselves on a single tree." Sheng Tang said.
Gu Shiting felt like he had been struck by lightning.
He was stunned, his face turned a bit pale.
He always thought that Tangtang was his good friend, his alone.
But suddenly, he realized that other people might like her, she would make friends with others.
Sheng Tang took a few bites of her al, and when she didn’t hear anything, she turned to see Gu Shiting in a daze.
She didn’t know whether to laugh or to feel sorry for him, so she lightly poked him: "I was just kidding. I’m losing weight for my health. Being too fat isn’t good for your body, you get a lot of diseases."
Gu Shiting’s expression softened a bit.
He was feeling down and lowered his head: "You looked best the way you were."
Sheng Tang: "People change."
Gu Shiting: "I don’t like it."
Sheng Tang: "But I’m still no matter how I change. If I change, will you stop being good to ?"
Gu Shiting imdiately said: "I’ll definitely be good to you."
Sheng Tang reached out and patted his head: "Good boy!"
Gu Shiting: "..."
For so reason, he always felt like he was a little puppy wagging its tail for Sheng Tang’s affection.
After finishing their al, Sheng Tang was about to go back to the classroom.
Gu Shiting asked her: "Aren’t you going to take a break? You can sleep here."
He pointed to the sofa.
Sheng Tang couldn’t fall asleep.
She told the truth: "I have to go back. I’m really nervous about the math exam."
Gu Shiting frowned slightly, feeling a bit reluctant.
"You’re not good at math?" he asked.
"Not really, I’ve forgotten a lot." Sheng Tang said, "Just morizing stuff doesn’t feel right. I need to take a math tutoring class next ti."
Gu Shiting’s eyes suddenly brightened: "I can teach you, I’ve never scored below 130 in math."
He was good at every subject because besides studying, he had nothing else to do.
"Really?" Sheng Tang’s eyes lit up even more than his, shining like moonlight reflecting in her eyes.
"Yeah!"
Sheng Tang laughed: "That’s great, you can teach so problems tomorrow."
Gu Shiting nodded.
She felt much more relieved.
Even so, she didn’t take a nap and went straight back to the classroom.
Sheng Tang was still thinking about the midterm exams all afternoon, distractedly looking at the math test paper during history class.
She told her parents about Gu Shiting helping her with math tutoring when she got ho on Friday.
"...Taking him out for so fun is good for his condition. Plus, he agreed to help with math in the afternoon." Sheng Tang said.
Her parents pondered for a mont.
Her younger brother wasn’t pleased, always feeling like Gu Shiting was monopolizing his sister.
Their grandmother smiled: "Helping others is a virtue, you should go. But you also need to balance work and rest."
Saturday morning, the weather was a bit chilly, the mid-autumn morning breeze carried the fresh scent of osmanthus blossoms. The morning sun rose, slanting through the window and spreading across the balcony.
Sheng Tang stretched and began brushing her teeth and washing her face.
Her mom found a thick coat for her: "You should wear more today, be careful not to catch a cold."
As Sheng Tang was about to leave, she put on the coat.
The coat was from last year, still in good condition, but unexpectedly loose.
It wasn’t the coat’s fault; Sheng Tang had really lost weight.
Her face was naturally small, so even though she lost a lot of weight, the changes in her face weren’t very noticeable, and her parents didn’t really pay much attention.
She went downstairs at 8:50.
Unexpectedly, Gu Shiting’s car had been waiting there for a long ti.
He knew waiting was tough, so he ca early to spare Sheng Tang from waiting.
What a good kid.
