Don’t say investing five million, even if it’s fifty million, Gu Jiahui wouldn’t personally go to the set. He would only send a company representative to have a look.
This ti, he lowered himself entirely to see Sheng Tang.
The scenes with Sheng Tang and the male lead only amounted to three minutes, but the director spent three hours filming them.
The director’s dedication made Gu Jiahui look at him with new eyes.
The male lead, Qian Zhe Lin, didn’t dare to complain about being tired, after all, the boss was watching from the side.
In the afternoon, it was ti for the female lead Ai Xiao’s scene.
Ai Xiao was a sight too dreadful to look at.
Sheng Tang always perford his lines and actions perfectly; Qian Zhe Lin occasionally had issues with his performance or positioning, but he had morized his lines well, so with a little guidance from the director, he could perform excellently.
Moreover, he was acting opposite Sheng Tang; every ti Sheng Tang got into character, it could bring him into the scene, so he never broke character and their performances were very in sync.
But Ai Xiao was different.
Today was all about filming a few of Ai Xiao’s solo scenes.
Her lines were not morized, her emotional expressions were always off, and it seed like she hadn’t yet understood the character. The female lead she played, Li Hong, was innocent and kind, but not a fool.
As for Ai Xiao, she always used a blank expression to portray the female lead’s emotions, which greatly dissatisfied the director.
Director Wang Sheng was a master. Even though Ai Xiao’s performance was terribly bad, he didn’t get angry, instead, he patiently corrected her, guiding her on how to try again.
Try again.
Repeating this for four hours, they had only fild less than thirty seconds of footage.
Ai Xiao was on the verge of collapse.
Gu Jiahui watched patiently from the side.
By the ti they finished filming in the afternoon, Ai Xiao was already on the brink of a ntal breakdown.
Gu Jiahui walked over and, without trying to conceal his voice, asked the director, "Can the female lead do it? If not, I’ll find soone else."
Ai Xiao froze completely.
Even a low-budget movie was still a movie; if she was replaced, the company wouldn’t give her any more opportunities in the future. Would she really go work as a sales assistant?
Though it was a decent money-making job, it was still the service industry, sothing Ai Xiao just couldn’t do.
"President Gu, I can do it!" Ai Xiao hurriedly reassured, her eyes filled with fear, "I’m just not in good form today, but I can do a good job."
Wang Sheng was shrewd and tenacious.
He knew Gu Jiahui had thoroughly intimidated Ai Xiao today.
Though Ai Xiao was terrible, Qian Zhe Lin wasn’t much better, and didn’t he improve after a few pointers? At least, Ai Xiao currently had the right attitude.
Replacing her with another actress, the director thought, might not necessarily be better than Ai Xiao.
After all, he’d seen many actresses over the years, and very few had the high acting skills of Sheng Tang. Most were at Ai Xiao’s level.
"President Gu, today was Miss Ai’s first scene, and she wasn’t quite in character yet, which is completely normal. She’ll improve as we go along. I believe in her abilities," said Wang Sheng.
Ai Xiao heaved a big sigh of relief.
Gu Jiahui gave her a cold glance, filled with a hint of warning.
That evening, Gu Jiahui drove back without staying for dinner.
Sheng Tang stood by the roadside to see him off.
On the way back to the city, the driver drove while Gu Jiahui dozed in the back seat, eventually falling asleep.
He was soone who didn’t sleep much, and it was rare for him to be this exhausted by five in the afternoon.
Last night, he and Sheng Tang had shared a bed.
The bed was large, and Sheng Tang slept very quietly, falling asleep in less than five minutes with his gentle breathing filling the room. Yet, Gu Jiahui couldn’t sleep.
He didn’t know what was on his mind, but he couldn’t fall asleep all night.
It was rare for him to suffer from insomnia.
In the past, he juggled studying and handling company matters, often flying back twice a week, working to the bone every day. He was always so exhausted that he slept particularly well.
But that night, he experienced unexpected insomnia.
Until around four in the morning, he managed to catch a two-hour nap.
Today, he spent the whole day on set, with no ti for a nap. On the way back to the city, he inadvertently fell asleep.
