As Eira entered her dorm room, the quiet of the Ombrelune tower wrapped around her like a worn cloak. The late hour gave the stone walls a hush, disturbed only by the soft rustle of her robes as she climbed into bed. With a sigh, she let her weight sink into the mattress and murmured, "System."

[Ding.]

[Congratulations, Host, for reaching another year of your life with the Sign-In System. Would you like to sign in for this year?]

Eira blinked at the glowing text hovering in the air above her, brows furrowing. The system’s voice—chanical, oddly chipper—echoed faintly in her mind. Her lips twitched in a tired smile.

"You’re still here?" she asked, not expecting an answer. "Didn’t the World’s Will say it wouldn’t bother with anymore? I thought it cut off completely." She tilted her head, eyes narrowed. "So why are you still functioning? Is the Will going back on its word?"

Silence.

She rolled her eyes and huffed. "Right. I forgot—you don’t have wisdom, just programming. Fine, whatever. Go ahead and sign in."

[Ding.]

[Congratulations, Host, on signing in for the third ti. You have received two rewards.

Do you wish to open them now?]

Eira’s gaze sharpened at that. "Wait—two?" she said aloud. "System, what happened to my other three rewards? I’m supposed to get five. Why have they been cut?"

A bitter silence stretched as she expected yet another silence from system—until, surprisingly, the system answered.

[Ding.]

[Dear Host, your reward quota has been reduced by the World’s Will due to your violation of the prior agreent. As punishnt for defiance, the Will has rescinded three of your annual sign-in rewards.]

Eira froze. Then slowly, her shoulders slumped. Her frustration simred beneath the surface.

"How petty," she muttered. "Can’t even take rejection gracefully, can it?"

She lay still for a long mont, staring up at the canopy of her bed. Her mind returned to that tense, wordless confrontation with the World’s Will months ago—the mont she’d torn herself free from its invisible strings. That taste of freedom had co with a price.

"Don’t be mad, Eira," she whispered to herself, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "You knew it wouldn’t co for free. You chose this. You chose to be free... not bound to anything. That’s worth more than a few lost system perks."

She smiled faintly, though it didn’t quite reach her eyes. "Honestly, I expected to lose everything. The fact that the Will still let two rewards co through... Maybe that is its twisted way of being kind."

"And if there hadn’t been any punishnt," she murmured, "if everything had just gone on as if nothing happened... that would’ve been far more suspicious."

She exhaled and gave a tired chuckle. "Alright, System. Go on. Open the rewards."

[Ding.]

[First Reward: 5 Talent Points for distribution.

Second Reward: Two Ancient Spells unlocked.]

The air shimred as glowing text scrolled before her eyes.

[Spell One: Patronus Charm — Expecto Patronum

A silvery guardian to repel dark entities such as Dentors and Lethifolds. Cast with the incantation "Expecto Patronum," requiring a powerful, joyful mory and emotional focus.

• Forms: Corporeal (distinct animal; stronger) or incorporeal (misty, basic form)

• Challenge Level: High – Emotional clarity and magical focus required

• Cooldown: Depends on stamina; overuse may weaken it

[Spell Two: Thunderstrike Curse — Tonitrus Percutiens

• Activation: Sharp downward wand motion, focused intent

• Challenge Level: Advanced – Precision and control required

• Cooldown: 15 seconds, reduced by 2s per mastery level

• Elental power at its rawest. Dangerous and devastating.]

As her eyes scanned the system interface, Eira’s brows lifted in surprise. Instead of the expected ten talent points, only five glowed on the screen. She let out a quiet sigh, her gaze lingering on the display, a mix of disappointnt and resignation settling over her.

Eira’s eyes widened slightly. "Patronus...?" she breathed. That one, at least, she recognized. It was considered one of the most difficult defensive charms in the magical world, not for lack of technique, but because it demanded emotional depth—light in its purest form. A spell born of mory and willpower.

The second spell—Tonitrus Percutiens—was unfamiliar, but its potential was obvious. Destructive, precise, and volatile. It reminded her of storm magic: dangerous if mishandled, but almost beautiful in its raw power.

She smirked faintly. "Guess I’m still being given tools, even if I’m being punished."

After a mont of thought, she nodded. "System, distribute the talent points and then show my status window . Three to White Magic, two to Dark Magic."

[Ding.]

[Talent allocation complete. New stats updated.

White Magic affinity increased.

Dark Magic affinity increased.]
