Chapter 245: A Promise Kept
The trolls cried in pain as the blue flas washed over them.
All their magical resistance did was delay their deaths and increase their pain.
Only two of the beasts were able to avoid being burned alive. From their desperation, they broke their enchanted chains and ran away from the house, never to be seen again.
And just like that, Dolohov was left by himself, staring in shock at the old wizard. "That spell… it belongs to Gellert Grindelwald."
"Who said that?" the old wizard asked with a hint of amusent. "That idiot son of mine stole it from my grimoire before going on his crusade to change the world… truly stupid if you ask ."
"Son? But then…" Dolohov had heard briefly about Grindelwald's father. It was said that he was a terrifying wizard from Austria, but little was publicly known about him. He did recall his na now. "Wolfram Grindelwald… is that who you are?"
"The one and only." Wolfram had co to Britain after the ss that his son had made, not to hide himself, but to look after his granddaughter, who most people didn't know existed.
If it wasn't for Jas's help, the girl would be dead by now, so he owes the boy a great favour. Otherwise, he would never have left his shop.
The blue flas disappeared, and Wolfram walked forward. "Tell , boy… how do you want to die?" His voice was cold and devoid of emotion, as this was sothing he had repeated many tis in the distant past.
Dolohov was a veteran fighter who had put his life on the line many tis already, but hearing this man speak still gave him shivers. "I-It won't be that easy!" He made a gesture with his hand, and the temperature in the room began to descend.
The dentors, who had been rely hovering around the house, felt his call and began to enter the dwelling through doors and windows.
Wolfram saw this with unconcerned eyes, because he knew sothing that Dolohov was missing.
"You took your sweet ti to get here." The old wizard was extrely sensitive to changes in his surroundings and imdiately perceived the presence of a new arrival.
A dozen dentors had ventured into the hall and were approaching the old wizard, but… out of nowhere, a pure white light broke through the ceiling and landed on the floor.
It was a large stag made of white light, and as soon as it appeared, the dentors reacted by emitting loud cries and flying as far away as possible.
"A fully corporeal Patronus?" Dolohov stared at the white stag with clear surprise on his face. The aura of purity emanating from the light construct was potent enough even to affect him.
However, what neither of them saw was the person who cast the spell.
The old Wolfram glanced towards the back door that Pollux had gone through. "Looks like I won't have to worry about helping that other child." His eyes shifted to Dolohov. "Instead… I can take my ti with you."
Dolohov felt his body tremble.
"Take that!" An Unforgivable Curse hit a wooden wall and reduced it to pieces.
"Stop him! He's running again!" another Death Eater shouted.
"Co back here, you coward," Abraxas Malfoy exclaid. "At least take your execution with so dignity. Pollux! Co back h—"
Splash! A glass flask flew through the air and broke in the middle of their group.
A nasty-looking black smoke started to form above the splashed liquid.
Abraxas hurried to cast an air bubble around his head to block the fus.
The ones who didn't react in ti began to choke and passed out on the floor.
Pollux took a peek from behind the door fra. 'Did Bella really make these?...' he asked himself as he thought about the potions that his granddaughter had handed to him before this.
She gave him a couple of potions and rely told him to throw them at the Death Eaters, not really explaining what they were.
However, now that he was seeing several of those n on the floor of the hallway, groaning in pain, Pollux felt a sense of pride filling his chest.
Still, from the dozen n following him, only four had fallen to the effects of the potion, so Pollux turned around and ran again.
"Damn it! Get him!" Abraxas commanded.
The other Death Eaters rushed to go after him.
Pollux had no illusions of being able to tackle so many opponents at the sa ti. Even if the ones affected by the potion didn't co back, there were still eight adult wizards trying to kill him.
'I still have another one of those potions, and then…' Jas had promised him that he would co to their aid as soon as possible.
This whole thing had, in fact, been Jas' idea from the beginning. He knew that Voldemort was not going to stop until he found him and his family, so when it was ti to build another house, Pollux had ordered the construction of one more manor.
One that he could register at the Ministry, fully knowing that the Death Eaters would find out about it.
Pollux glanced back after crossing through a small hall. There were only two more doors left available to him. One led to the back garden and the other one to the library.
The back garden was a large open space that would make it easy for the Death Eaters to surround him; the library was empty of books, but it did have all the shelves in place, giving him sothing to use as cover.
Unfortunately, the library had only one entrance, making it easy for them to trap him inside.
Having made the decision to put up a fight until his last breath, Pollux was about to open the door to the library, but then he heard a voice inside his mind.
'Go to the garden.'
"Jas…?" Pollux had recognized the voice, but before he had ti to question it, he heard his enemies approaching.
"There he is!"
"Avada Kedavra!" Abraxas fired a deadly curse with no hesitation.
Making the snap decision to trust the voice, Pollux opened the door to the back garden and ran out.
