Chapter 187: The Aurors

The three n were well-dressed in combat robes. They scanned their surroundings right after apparating into the entrance of the village, stopping for a long mont in the general area where the battle had taken place.

"Where is this witch that they called us for?" the tallest one of the group asked first.

"Gentlen." Dumbledore approached the n. "The witch is gone now."

"She escaped?" another auror asked.

"No, she did not escape." The Headmaster glanced back for a mont. "This is going to take a bit to explain." He got closer to the three n and began talking while the others watched.

"I don't like those guys," Sirius comnted.

"Is Jas going to get in trouble for this?" Peter asked. After all, Jas had technically killed a person, if that witch could qualify as such.

"It was self-defense!" Lily claid. "That woman wanted to kill all of us."

"Redhead is right," Bella said. "Jas has nothing to worry about." She looked at him. "Do you want to call my grandfather? He can get you out of any trouble with the Ministry."

"I appreciate it, but that won't be necessary," Jas told them.

"They keep looking towards us," Remus said.

"The Headmaster must be informing them of what happened," Professor Slughorn added before tapping on Jas's shoulder. "I'm sure you have nothing to worry about. Dumbledore is very protective of his students."

Jas wanted to point out his expulsion, but he felt this was not the right ti to bring up the news.

Eventually, their talk ended, and one of the aurors, the tallest one, began to make his way towards them while Dumbledore walked at his side.

The other two went to check the scene of the fight and seed to be very interested in the remnants of magic there.

'They are probably trying to figure out what magic was used to cause this,' Jas thought.

"Greetings, Mister Potter." The auror kept his eyes on Jas. "I am Auror Clarke. Your Headmaster has inford us of what has transpired here with that witch. From what he said, you did sothing very heroic, but I'm sorry to say that you still need to accompany to the Ministry."

"Are you arresting him?!" Peter exclaid before getting closer to Jas.

Remus and Sirius stood in front of Jas in a protective manner.

"You are not taking away our friend."

"He has done nothing wrong!"

Bella grasped her wand without saying a word but kept her eyes on the tall man.

"Everyone, calm down." Dumbledore tried to defuse the situation. "No one is getting arrested. They just need to get the full story from Jas's mouth. I will be accompanying him to the Ministry of Magic."

"Mister Dumbledore, that is not necessary. We need to speak with the boy alone," the auror responded.

"He is a minor, so that's not happening. If you do not wish to wait for his parents, then you will have to put up with . I won't leave my student alone," Dumbledore told the auror.

This one sighed. "Fine. Let us go then," the auror said before glancing at the others. "The rest of the students must return to the castle and stay there. This trip to Hogsade is over. We have a dead witch, a dead student, and many injured."

"I will escort everyone to the castle," Professor Slughorn hurried to say when he felt the eyes of Dumbledore on him.

The auror walked a bit further from the group and pulled a handkerchief from his pocket. "This is a portkey. I will need the two of you to hang on to it," he said as his eyes moved between Jas and Dumbledore.

Jas moved Remus and Sirius out of the way. "It's okay," he told them.

Feeling everyone's eyes on him, Jas turned and tried to offer them a reassuring smile. "Trust . It's fine. I'll be back soon."

Jas and Dumbledore walked away and approached the auror, who promptly activated the portkey, taking them to the Ministry.

Just as their bodies vanished, the group spotted Madam Pomfrey and other professors arriving at the village.

A short distance away from them were the two remaining aurors, still inspecting the scene.

"Bloody hell, what do you think caused this?" one auror asked the other.

"I've seen the effect of many fire spells but nothing like…" He glanced at the ground, where the dirt had been transford into glass due to the trendous heat. "Not even Fiendfyre."

"Sothing dark, that's for sure," the other auror responded while moving his eyes around until they stopped at a pile of black ashes. "That must be what's left of the witch."

"Aye, but according to Dumbledore, the fire was made by the boy. White flas that rose into the sky… I would really like to see the boy's mories."

"What was his na?"

"Potter, I think. Pureblood family, right? You know more about those than ," the auror asked his partner, after all, he was part of one of those old families as well.

"Ahh, yes… Potter." He said with a frown.

This caught the interest of the other man. "Sothing wrong, Jones?" the auror glanced at him.

It was rare for aurors to co from prestigious backgrounds, but Tobias Jones was such a man, an auror who was also the heir of a pureblood family.

What most weren't aware of was that the Jones House was currently in a very poor position, economically speaking, and was also close to losing its lofty status.

Auror Jones recovered imdiately when he felt his partner's eyes on him. "Nothing, I just recalled sothing. There is a Potter working at the Ministry." He managed to brush it away by recalling that simple fact.

The truth behind his reaction was a very different one. He had heard the na of Potter very recently, because it was one of the nas that ca up, along with the House of Black...during their last reunion with the Dark Lord.

'I will need to inform Lord Voldemort of this,' Auror Jones thought. His family had recently joined the Lord's side when this one made so promises that would solve all of their imdiate issues.

So far, they had brushed the Potters as unimportant, since they were a very small family that didn't look like a threat to their goals, and instead they chose to focus on the House of Black.

'If this Potter boy is that much of a monster… we may have to do sothing about it,' Auror Jones thought as he examined the scene.
