Chapter 133: The Necromancer's Weapon

Jas pulled the black stone hanging from his neck. The runic engraving on its surface created an array that would absorb a large part of the souls from anyone dying in the proximity and store them inside.

"Okay, that's better," Jas said as he observed the changes on the stone. Eight necromancers had just died, and their spirits were used to temper the Philosopher's Stone.

The surface of the stone was no longer pitch black, but it had begun to gain a reddish tone in so parts of it.

"Much more promising than with the vampires. That's a sha, though… I had planned on exterminating most of the clans in Europe." That would be a waste of ti, though. It had beco imdiately obvious that he needed humans for this to work.

Jas was sure that the souls of innocent humans would have worked much better, but that price was too high for him to pay.

If this cursed artifact wanted human souls, he would give it the souls of those who deserved such a fate. It was the least he could do.

"Mmm, it's still hard to estimate how many souls I'm going to need. But there is still a long way to go, that's for sure." Jas glanced at the door.

On the other side, there should still be a few more necromancers, including their leader, who had quickly run away.

"Master." Nyxaris hovered next to him. "Shall I destroy this door?"

"Kyu?" Primum was asking the sa question.

"I'll do it." He looked at Primum for a mont. "You can co back."

"Kyu!" The chira moved its wings quickly as a form of complaint.

"You have done enough. Don't worry… there are going to be more chances for you to demonstrate your talents. We still have much work before this is finished," Jas said.

This seed to cheer up the little guy, who quickly turned into a white ring that flew onto Jas' finger.

"Master, that sli has sneaked from under the door," Nyxaris pointed out.

Jas nodded. "I sent it ahead to start cleaning." But more importantly, he didn't want the necromancers to start awakening their army of zombies and skeletons now. That would just increase his workload and bring him no benefit whatsoever since he could not use those undead creatures.

His wand traced a line from the top to the bottom of the door, revealing all the protections that were keeping it sealed.

"Unlocking this will take too long." On the palm of his left hand, a golden fla appeared out of nowhere.

"Aureo Ignum." Of the five Alchemy Flas he could create, this one was the second most powerful, at least when it ca to the temperature of the flas.

This one would be able to lt the scales of a red dragon.

The golden flas shot out of Jas' hand like a flathrower. The reinforced wooden gates and stone wall had no chance to resist this magical fire and lted in a matter of seconds.

As soon as holes began to appear on the gates, the screams of the individuals on the other side could be heard.

"Let's go, Nyx. Kill on sight, but be mindful of what magic you use. Rember that we are underground." Jas passed by the hole left behind by his flas while the fairy followed right behind.

"Yes, Master."

The bodies of two necromancers could be seen just a few feet away from the gate. They were laying in a pool of blood that was still pouring from their necks.

Jas ignored the bodies and continued moving. Ahead of him were several more chambers. One could never have guessed how big this hideout was.

"Master… I cannot detect any more magical signatures from living people," the fairy said while looking around. "I believe the sli may have killed them all by now."

Jas' eyes beca narrow. He didn't doubt what Nyxaris said, but he still felt sothing moving on the other side of those walls.

"Crack…" Sothing hit the walls, creating countless fissures on them.

"Master!" Nyxaris went on full alert and created a shield around him.

A mont later, the wall exploded and a massive bone hand erged from the rubble.

"Tsk! They had to make two of those." Jas looked with irritation at the two massive skeletons that were now crossing into the chamber he was in.

In front of him were two skeletons that were raised using the bodies of adult giants. They were unard, but that didn't make them any less dangerous.

Skeletons like these could keep almost the full strength of the living creature they were made of, with all the benefits that ca from being an undead.

"They are autonomous too," Jas comnted. Sotis, when a necromancer dies, the creatures they had created would fall as well, because they were dependent on their creator's magic to continue moving.

These two would continue to move and attempt to fulfill whatever order their master had given them before dying. Most likely it was sothing along the lines of 'Kill the intruder' or sothing like that.

Jas spotted sothing silver that was stuck on top of the ribs of one of the giants.

"Co back, Tertivor." The sli was very effective against flesh opponents, but not so much against skeletons who had no flesh or muscles to cut nor organs to pierce.

The silvery substance stuck to the ribs of the giant quickly changed forms and shot out.

Jas extended his left hand and it wrapped around it, forming a silver bracelet.

The massive red eyes on the giants seed to shine brighter the mont they spotted his figure, and they began to move towards him.

"Now, how do I deal with you?" Jas scratched his chin while thinking about it.

Most spells were going to be useless in this case, but then sothing seed to occur to him.

"Oh… I think I just have the thing..." A confident smile appeared on his face.
