"Are you satisfied now?" Lieutenant Colonel Hart asked in a cold voice.
"The person who designed the Junplink: did he die before perfecting his work?"
"Why do you ask?"
"It’s either that, or he had a stroke imdiately afterward. The program used to ti jump into the future is atrocious. No wonder you guys have so many casualties. Most of these people were probably teleported thousands of feet above their destination and died from the landing."
Edward was not just speaking nonsense as a tactic. In the movie, the protagonist, Dan Forester, was also teleported hundreds of feet above the landing spots. He and a few others were lucky to land on a pool on top of a skyscraper. The other recruits were not that lucky.
"Dr. Azeem died soon after the invasion, and others had to finish his work," Hart revealed.
"That explains it." Edward could not fathom how a brilliant man who could invent ti travel in the year 2051 would have such a shoddy product. "I’ve created a new program that limits the room for error in your teleportation. It’s complete since I haven’t seen the Jumplink, but if you use it, the worst that could happen is the recruits are teleported ten ters above their designated location. That should be enough to drastically reduce the casualties."
"Are you telling the truth?" Edward’s response was a simple stare. Lieutenant Colonel Hart swiftly called the lead engineer at the base to verify the claim.
"He’s telling the truth," the engineer said before looking at Edward in awe. "Are you related to Dr. Azeem?"
"He’s not," Hart replied. All recruits must undergo testing to determine their eligibility to travel to the future, with the requirent being that they die before the year 2051. The identity that the Samsara Hall gave all the reincarnators fit the requirent.
"If only you and Dr. Azeem could have worked together," the engineer sighed. When knowledge about Junplink beca public, it was a revolutionary creation. People debated whether the technology involved was 300 years or 500 years ahead of its ti. But today, the engineer t a man — whose knowledge should be 30 years behind them — succesfully understood and even improved on this technology.
"Would you mind if we test this program on your team?" Hart asked. For this tour, the base was only sending Edward and the two reincarnators.
"No problem."
"How long until deploynt?"
"An hour or two," the engineer replied.
"Now, can you put the vambrace on?" Hart asked.
"No need." He touched the vambrace, and it fused into his armor’s forearm. At least, that’s how it looks to others. He just disassembled and reassembled the technology from the vambrace into the armor. However, unlike the others who are still controlled or monitored by this thing, Edward had all the power.
He ignored the shock of those two before waiting for the deploynt. An hour and a half later, a space-ti tunnel swallowed the team, and they found themselves on a beach. His program indeed worked, as only Jake was teleported three ters into the air, and he rolled on the ground as he landed.
Edward raised his hand to release a tallic ball slightly bigger than a tennis ball. This miniature satellite flew into the Earth’s atmosphere and linked with the suit and Morgana.
"Hello, can you hear ? This is Roo Command. Who am I speaking with?"
"Neo Doom."
"Your ID is saying that you are a special team of mutants and an advanced exoskeleton suit? What is the aning of this?"
"It’s as the information said," Edward replied calmly.
"...Well, we can deal with that later. Your mission is to escort a team of scientists and protect them for at least seven days. If possible, you may also have to acquire samples for them. Do you understand?"
Edward squinted. When Dan was teleported to the future, the science team was already dead, and his mission was to recover their research. It seed their team was teleported before they finished their work.
"Understood."
Roo Command sent the location of the science team, and Edward headed in their direction. They t an escort of five vehicles. At first, they were intimidated by Edward’s presence, but everyone soon felt relieved after receiving the order from command. More importantly, Edward’s presence beca a source of comfort.
The team’s destination was a specialized laboratory in Miami to create a unique toxin that could eradicate all the Whitespikes. This mission was the last chance of saving this dying world.
"In coming," Edward said. The soldiers were shocked, but Jake and Qon were imdiately on guard. "A small squad of 30 Whitespikes coming from the East. We have 2 minutes to prepare."
Qon closed his eyes to use the power of the Force. Now that he had a location and an estimated arrival ti, it was easier to detect the incoming enemies. anwhile, Jake placed his robotic arm on the ground, sensing sothing. Their eyes imdiately beca sharp as if they had discovered sothing. Qon took out his lightsaber and activated it. The blue hue reflected on his face. Jake’s arms transform to release sharp blades.
The soldiers were slow to react, but they imdiately got into formation. They stopped the car and readied their weapons in the eastern direction. Less than a minute later, a group of Whitespikes glided from the sky. That’s right, glided. These creatures could not fly, but their anatomy allowed them to glide by using a special pouch underneath their limbs.
The soldiers imdiately fired their ineffective guns. Unless they could blow a hole in the creature’s belly or pierce through its neck, bullets only made them more aggressive. However, despite the poor performance of their weapons, the soldiers did not back down, and this was not due to the presence of the special team. They understood the importance of this mission and were prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice to ensure its success.
When the Whitespikes were less than 15 ters, Qon jumped toward the one in the front and bisected it with one swing of his lightsaber. He followed that with a display of swordsmanship mastery. Qon cut off these alines one after the other, and not a single drop of their green blood touched his clothes.
’Pre-cognition, huh?’ Edward thought. Jedi did not only have telekinesis as a base power, they also had their own form of Pre-Cognition. It’s one of the reasons they can block laser guns or predict danger. ’How does the Force work outside the Star Wars world?’
The Force was a power that should only work in the Star Wars world, but the Samsara Hall allowed soone like Qon to use it in the multiverse. ’Is he connected to Star Wars at all tis? Or maybe the Samsara Hall has its own independent Force for Jedi reincarnators? It’s also possible that the Jedi System was modified to rely less on the environnt.’ Edward once theorized how he would create the Jedi System, and the base answer he had was to allow them to connect to a Universe Will and borrow its power.
’It may be worth studying,’ he thought.
Jake did not want to be outdone and started a massacre of his own. He had to be more careful or tactical than Qon because his weapon could not easily cut through the whitespikes’ bodies. So, all his attacks targeted the head to chop it off. However, this ant he could not be as elegant as Qon, as his body was bathed in the blood of these creatures.
’These whitespikes might be valuable,’ Edward analyzed. The spaceship that ca to Earth only landed with a few dozen of them. However, in less than 3 years, they killed more than eight billion humans on Earth, reducing the population to less than 500,000.
The most dangerous and rewarding missions in the Samsara Hall are the Conquest Missions, which require reincarnators to conquer the entire world. Edward was thinking of genetically improving these whitespikes. Then, after feeding them enough biomass, they can rapidly reproduce, and he can sell them to these reincarnators on a conquest mission.
’Let’s do a few more tests first.’
