"Alright, let’s regroup First—check your supplies. No surprises while it’s still nightti."
The survivors moved quickly, counting arrows, bullets, food—anything they still had.
Luck stood at the edge of the watchtower, scanning the dark streets for movent—zombies, raiders, or maybe so desperate survivors stupid enough to be out this late.
Behind him, light footsteps echoed.
He didn’t turn. "You lost or just bored?"
Her voice ca soft. "Neither. Just thought you could use so company."
Luck finally glanced over his shoulder. It was her—Yuna.
"Did you really have to make it look that easy?" she asked, her tone teasing but laced with an undercurrent of admiration.
"I don’t do things halfway," he responded curtly, eyes still on the binoculars.
Yuna leaned casually against the railing, her posture relaxed and inviting. Her lips curled into a playful smile that lit up her face.
"You’re really impressive. Most n would have panicked facing those things. But you? You just slice right through them."
Luck turned slightly. "Flattery won’t get you more arrows."
"Who said anything about flattery?" She smiled. "I’m just being real—your skills are top-notch. Finding soone strong and dependable like you is rare... maybe even impossible."
Before she could lean in closer, Kana stepped between them and grasped his arm, pulling him away as if drawing a line in the sand. It gnawed at her—seeing another girl flirt so casually with the person who took her virginity.
"Big boss is mine,"
Her possessiveness was uncharacteristic, an emotion she barely recognized herself.
"There, there, don’t worry. We’re just talking," Luck tried to deescalate the situation.
At the sa ti, he didn’t deny his relationship with Kana. That alone was enough for Yuna to get the ssage—loud and clear.
She closed her eyes and turned away. On the surface, she looked fine—but inside, she was boiling.
If there was one thing girls hated, it was another girl stealing a potential partner.
Luck just watched her walk away. He had zero interest in her.
If there was anyone he would never add to his logbook, it was her. Not because of her attitude, but because of her skills. He would rather die than end up with one of her skills.
"Didn’t know you were the jealous type," Luck joked, placing his arm around Kana’s shoulders and giving her a gentle kiss on the forehead.
She glanced away, attempting to hide the smile forming on her lips, but her reddening ears gave her away
"...Idiot," she murmured softly, clutching his sleeve more tightly.
"You know, you look prettier when jealous," He squeezed her shoulder lightly. "I an, if you’re going to get worked up over Yuna, you might as well take a deep breath and rember who gets to share your bed at night."
"It’s not—I’m not jealous," she stamred, "I just... don’t like sharing."
He feigned serious contemplation. "So, what are you suggesting? Should I put a ’do not disturb’ sign on my heart? Or maybe just on our door?"
She pulled away slightly, trying to maintain so semblance of dignity, but he caught her wrist gently before she could fully escape.
The flicker of vulnerability in her eyes made him soften for a mont. He tugged her closer again, wrapping his arms around her waist.
"You’re not getting away that easily," he pulled her back gently.
"Please, stop it," she protested half-heartedly, though the warmth of his embrace was undeniably comforting.
His hands found their place on her waist, and he leaned in closer, the teasing glint in his eyes never wavering.
"What’s the rush? We were having fun—just a little banter between partners."
Her heart raced at the word "partners." It felt heavier than any blade, anchoring her emotions.
Still, she fought against the tide of vulnerability washing over her.
"You’re impossible," she huffed, trying to sound irritated but failing miserably.
"Impossible?" He chuckled softly, leaning down to et her gaze directly. "Or just irresistible?"
"I...:" She was lost for words, caught between pride and frustration.
She thought she could make him fall for her first. But what was happening was the opposite—and it scared her.
A flashback of her training echoed in her mind.
’Never trust anyone.’
’Never trust a man. No matter what. They’ll only make you weak.’
Those words echoed in her head, drilled into her during every lesson, every mission. And yet, here she was—starting to forget them.
Dima walked up to Yuna, hands in his pockets, his tone careful. "You good?"
She said nothing. Her eyes narrowed, jaw clenching tight—her glare spoke louder than any answer.
He let out a soft sigh and stepped back, knowing there was no soothing her mood.
Yuna’s fingers dug into her palms as bitter thoughts swirled in her head.
She blad the four n who fucked her.
If Luck did not see it, if she had just kept her act together a little longer, maybe she would still have a chance with him.
But now, with Kana claiming the spotlight and taking the title of his "partner," the chance was basically gone.
Typical.
She refused to take the fall for this ss. In her mind, the n were the problem.
They turned the situation against her because of their libido.
’Just you wait, bitch, ’ she thought, biting her nails with frustration. ’I’ll find so dirt on you. I’ll ruin your image. You don’t deserve that spot.’
Her eyes scanned the area as she cald herself down.
That’s when she noticed Geo and Peter chatting a few ters away. They weren’t paying attention to her—but they should’ve been.
A new idea clicked into place. If she wanted leverage, then she needed access. And the fastest way to that was through Kana’s friends.
She fixed her hair, adjusted her expression, and started walking over.
"Hey Geo," she called out, flashing a smile that didn’t reach her eyes. "I just heard sothing interesting."
The two boys turned toward her, surprised by her sudden approach.
She tilted her head slightly. "Sounds like your friend Kana’s already the big boss woman around here. Didn’t she have a thing going on with Jun? Or was that just a rumor?"
Peter looked at Geo, unsure if they should even answer.
Geo crossed his arms, not bothering to hide his skepticism. "Why do you care?"
Yuna shrugged, keeping her tone light. "Just making conversation. It’s always good to know who’s moving up in the ranks. Especially when people start switching partners."
Peter raised a brow. "Sounds more like gossip."
She smiled again, tone still sweet. "I just want to know the truth."
Geo answered before Peter could speak. "Don’t worry. Kana’s single. So there’s nothing wrong with her dating the big boss.
Yuna kept her smile in place, but inside, her frustration only grew.
That answer gave her nothing to work with. Geo was already shutting the door before she could even slip her foot in.
She laughed softly, masking her disappointnt. "Of course. Just wanted to make sure there’s no drama—wouldn’t want any misunderstandings."
Reluctantly, she turned and walked away.
As she passed them, a small movent caught her attention.
She looked to the side and spotted one of Kana’s girl friends gesturing for her to co closer.
Even in the apocalypse, certain aspects of a woman’s nature remained unchanged.
