When Roland’s enters the room, he feels an imdiate sense of comfort, almost as if it were his own. Their being next-door neighbors has made this space feel like a second ho for him.
The room itself is warmly inviting, with soft pastel colors that give it a cozy, serene ambiance. The first thing he notices is the large bed positioned against the window wall, its soft, fluffy comforter inviting relaxation. The sunlight pours in through the window, creating a warm glow that softens the edges of the room and wraps everything in a warm hue.
The bed, with its neatly arranged pillows and plush blanket and many plushies, the size is also perfect for two people to sleep comfortably.
On the opposite side of the bed is a vanity table, which is elegantly styled with a mirror that reflects the calm atmosphere of the room. It’s neatly organized, though with a few personal touches — a favorite perfu bottle, a hairbrush, and a little picture fra with a picture taken when they were hugging together in a beach.
Beside the bed, there’s a big study table, cluttered with books, a couple of half-finished art projects, and a cup of pencils. The small chaos of the desk adds to the feeling of familiarity and closeness that cos from spending so much ti together in the room.
The closet, tucked neatly beside the vanity table, is full of shared belongings, tho he has only few necessary pair of clothes not like hers in his closet.
The soft color sche of the room, dominated by shades of warm pinks and light blues, ties everything together beautifully.
Karena lay fast asleep on the bed in their cozy little nest with her black hair spread across the pillow, a cool towel resting on her forehead to help lower her fever. Her tightly furrowed brow and pained expression suggested she was trapped in a feverish nightmare.
Occasionally, she murmured Roland’s na in her sleep.
Could it be that even in her dreams, she’s being robbed of sothing precious?
That’s just too cruel! Why must even her dreams tornt her so?
This was the first ti Roland had ever seen Karena in such a pitiful state. To be honest, it made his heart ache just to see her in that painful state.
He was supposed to bring her happiness, yet he had instead reduced her to this miserable condition.
What tornted Roland most was that even witnessing Karena’s suffering, he couldn’t simply marry her right now and give her the happiness she deserved.
It wasn’t that he didn’t want to; he simply couldn’t.
If Roland were to marry anyone right now, Haruno would undoubtedly be the first in line. After all, he had already taken her virginity—shouldn’t he take responsibility?
If he married Karena as well, what would happen when Haruno, with her growing belly, ca knocking? The scene would be beyond awkward and it won’t end well no matter how he think of it.
Well, this was beyond awkward. Karena had already collapsed from illness just upon learning about his arranged eting with Haruno. If she found out he’d slept with soone else before her, who knew what might happen!
Therefore, he absolutely couldn’t let Karena find out, at least until she fully recovered. It was better to be considerate of her feelings for now.
With this thought, Roland sat down beside Karena’s bed, his heart aching as he gently stroked her exquisite, delicate face—a face that should have belonged to him.
To be honest, even if he disregarded his long-standing feelings for Karena, he couldn’t bear to give up on such a beautiful next door elder sister.
Since Karena was a year older than him, Roland had always seen her as a onee-san type of senior.
Perhaps because he’d grown accustod to Haruno’s teasing lately, his onee-san fetish seed to be intensifying.
After all, wasn’t the feeling of claiming a big sister whom everyone else saw as unattainable incredibly intoxicating?
It was intoxicating!
And it wasn’t just the feeling—Karena herself was intoxicating. If anyone really naive to think they’d slept together for years without doing anything?
Of course, they hadn’t done anything too extre, but cuddling and hugging had beco routine.
Roland could confidently tell everyone that Karena had a natural body fragrance. Unlike the pure, milky scent of the Yukino family mother and daughter, the Kaur family’s scent was more akin to coffee and like mild jasmine.
Well, either way, it’s the kind of scent that makes him want to savor it.
When Roland’s palm brushed against Karena’s cheek slightly, her tightly furrowed brows gradually relaxed, as if she sensed the presence of a familiar figure. Even her Health Value rose from 35 to 40.
Could it really be that magical?
Does my presence carry so kind of aura? How else could Karena sense in her sleep?
Or did my touch activate the Massage Technique, giving her so asure of comfort?
Roland couldn’t know for sure. All he knew was that the towel on Karena’s forehead had grown warm. He simply removed it, rinsed it in cold water, wrung it out, and reapplied it.
Perhaps his movents startled Karena awake. Her delicate brows twitched twice before she slowly opened her eyes with so difficulty.
"Mother...?"
Karena seed delirious from the fever, mistaking the person beside her for her mother at first glance.
After all, Roland should be with Yukino right now. Though she desperately wanted him to be here, it probably wasn’t him... right?
"It’s ," Roland’s voice rang out. The feverish Karena reacted as if she’d been splashed with cold water after just waking up, her body jerking slightly before she snapped fully awake.
If her reaction could be quantified, her Health Value, which had been at 40 points, suddenly surged to 50 the mont she saw Roland’s soft blue eyes and golden ssy hair, the ever handso face.
It seed his mother had been right all along. Karena’s fever had indeed been triggered by his absence, and his reappearance had brought about her recovery.
If he actually marries Haruno in the future, will Karena’s illness vanish instantly or sothing dangerous would happen?
This is getting complicated.
His mother’s ddling with arranged marriage prospects had created an inextricable ss with both families. He had no idea how to resolve this tangled situation.
Sigh, well, let’s not dwell on that for now. Karena’s rapid recovery has at least given so relief.
He decided to set aside these troubling matters and focus on sharing this emotional reunion with Karena...
That was Roland’s intention. But the mont Karena recognized him, instead of giving him a heartfelt embrace by pulling him into her arms, she abruptly turned her back on him, presenting him with a cold, indifferent silhouette.
Ah... so she’s still angry after all?
