The number of swords piercing the behemoth steadily increased.

With each one, the monster sustained another wound, the purifying property of the silver compounding its agony.

The beast’s titanic roars echoed endlessly through the underground cavern.

“GRAAAAGH, AAAAAGH—!”

To Homura, these were no re needles. They were straight swords, each with a blade nearly three feet long, sinking effortlessly into its flesh, hilt-deep.

The pain was imnse.

What infuriated the beast most was that the silver swords remained lodged inside it, sending fresh waves of tornt through its body with every movent.

Ophelia maintained her distance, delivering her attacks unanswered.

Long-range, high-power. A perfect strategy begets a perfect victory. She was just a few steps from the finish line.

Suddenly, a sharp, numbing throb shot through her ankle. She paused, limping slightly.

Giving out on already? Not that it matters. The swords are still hitting with plenty of power. My accuracy has slipped, but the target is so massive it hardly matters.

And while it’s fast, it’s not fast enough to close the distance. I can wear it down just like this.

Her fighting spirit was blazing.

She gripped another blade, channeling her mana into it. The shimring silver reflected the flickering flas. Her beautiful face twisted into a sadistic smirk.

“Tired already? I was hoping we could dance a little longer.”

“GROOOOAR!”

The behemoth charged as if in answer.

Ophelia hurled a silver sword with all her might. “Fly unbroken!”

The blade sank deep into the creature’s torso.

Once again, the sheer force of the impact was too much for the behemoth to bear. It stumbled forward, planting its hands on the ground, its movents halting.

“Graaagh, ghaa, ah…!”

Volatus Infractus, the spell the young heiress had chanted, was classified under Velocity Control Magic. It allowed the caster to manipulate the air resistance, gravitational pull, and impact energy affecting a thrown object after it left the hand.

“You can throw a feather and make it stick in a wall.” This was the common explanation used when teaching the spell. However, that only applied to its use at a standard proficiency, Spell Rank B.

When mastered and cast at Spell Rank S, the air resistance on the projectile dropped to zero, the pull of gravity was intensified, and the object retained all of its initial kinetic energy until the mont of impact.

Thus, at the academy, the Spell Rank S version of Volatus Infractus was explained differently: “You can throw a feather and pierce through a wall.”

This was precisely what made her Soulgear, Silverbane, so brilliant and so terrifying. Even for a beast that towered over her, each strike was a bone-deep agony.

“What a lovely look for you. Just a few more and you’ll be a magnificent pincushion.”

“Grooo, oooaaargh…!”

With her long-range, high-power, high-volu attacks, Homura was not a difficult opponent for Ophelia. The matchup was in her favor, and she was ecstatic.

Shattering the idol of the vile cult that brought down Coral Eldarian was a prayer answered for the families of all who were sacrificed that night.

This is vengeance for all who were left behind…!

Other thoughts flashed through her mind.

This was a class of Demon she would rarely get the chance to subjugate alone. A successful solo subjugation would be a monuntal achievent, earning her recognition as a true warrior from all corners of the world.

“The young genius Mage, Ophelia Luxor,” she imagined them saying.

And also…

Maybe this will finally earn so sincere respect from Mister Akamuro. He seems to look down on .

A small smile played on her lips.

With the foretaste of victory, a storm of thrilling possibilities swirled in the young heiress’s mind.
