Hughes Manor is located halfway up Mount Glimr, with a winding mountain road. The afternoon sunlight refracts through the clouds, making the snow on the branches lt, and the "drip-drop" of water sounds like a beautiful lody.
Every ti Sienna Monroe ca in the past, she marveled at the scenery around here.
No matter the season, the mountain scenery always had its own charm.
She pursed her lips tightly, her hands clenched into fists on her lap, fingertips slightly pale, her expression calm, as she watched the car enter the manor.
Michelle Lowe heard the news from the main gate, hurriedly put down her teacup, and walked to the villa door to look out.
After a while, she saw a black business car approaching from a distance. When she saw Sienna Monroe getting out of the car, she hurriedly walked down a few steps, "Sienna, why are you here at this ti? Have you eaten?"
"Yes, I have, Aunt." Sienna smiled, holding her hand, "Why are you waiting here? It must be so cold."
"It’s not cold. It’s been a long ti since you’ve been here. A few days ago, Pia ntioned missing you on her school break."
The two of them chatted as they walked into the house.
Michelle Lowe had soone make a cup of hot tea for Sienna. At this ti, it was only her at ho; Franklin Hughes and Justin Hughes were both at the company, and Pia Hughes was in her sophomore year of college.
After so pleasantries, Sienna got down to business.
"Aunt, is the comrcial building at 164 Riven Street under your na?"
Michelle Lowe was taken aback, and after so serious thought, she rembered she owned more than twenty shops and three residential buildings, with yearly rental inco totaling over ten million.
But usually, she entrusts these properties to people she trusts to manage and only does the accounts every six months.
So she wasn’t clear about the specific locations of those shops.
After a long while, she nodded, "I think there’s a store, a five-story building, in a good location, right opposite The Grand Harvest Pronade."
"Has this store been rented out?"
"It was rented out before, for a beauty and hair salon, on a three-year lease. The contract expires this month, and they decided not to renew it, so it’ll be vacant mid-month." Michelle looked at her, puzzled, "Sienna, why are you suddenly asking about this? Interested in this shop?"
"My mother-in-law’s beauty salon wants to open a branch here."
"Oh, did she ask you to inquire?" Michelle pondered for a few seconds, "Once the current tenant moves out, she can co check the place, and I can offer a family discount on the rent. After all, we are family, so it’s no big deal."
"Aunt, I’m here today to tell you that the shop can’t be rented to her."
Michelle was stunned, "What do you an?"
Sienna pursed her lips.
Since she wanted the Hughes family to be cautious of June Ewing, she couldn’t keep this matter a secret.
She had to tell the truth.
She gritted her teeth and lowered her voice, "Radiance Beauty Spa is secretly involved in illegal operations. They run a male modeling training class specifically for the wealthy ladies of Imperial City."
Michelle was shocked, quickly dismissing the surrounding servants, and sat in front of Sienna, "How... how did you find out?"
Sienna made up an excuse, "Recently, Radiance Beauty Spa was closed for tax evasion. However, I saw several ladies still going to the spa as usual. I just happened to co across... I’m worried that once they open a branch, it might cause trouble for you and Uncle."
"June Ewing is so audacious! Such a low and disgusting act, you wouldn’t believe she’s that kind of person!"
Michelle angrily scolded for a while. She had never heard of such a thing, took a deep breath, and slowly cald down, "Sienna, although she’s your mother-in-law, this isn’t a small issue. We must be cautious, understand? Don’t do anything foolish until we fully understand the situation."
Sienna nodded, "I understand, Aunt."
"Does Caleb Sinclair know about this?"
"I tested him; he probably doesn’t know."
Michelle slightly relaxed, softly comforting her, "It’s good that he doesn’t know; it won’t involve you both as a couple. But don’t tell Caleb either—it is his mother, after all. We’ll discuss it properly when your Uncle cos back tonight."
Sienna pressed her lips together, her eyelids hanging low, her eyes reflecting an indistinct glimr of emotions.
She couldn’t let them know about Caleb’s infidelity yet.
Not to worry them and also fearing her uncle and cousin might not hold back from giving Caleb a beating.
She nodded gently.
When she returned ho, it was already past seven, caught in the evening rush hour, and what was supposed to be a forty to fifty-minute drive turned into an hour and a half jam.
Most of the snow in the yard had lted today, leaving the cobblestone path damp.
The bleak cold wind sent a chill through Sienna, prompting her to pull her coat tighter.
That evening, Caleb Sinclair video-called her as usual.
He hadn’t acquired that piece of land but found an excuse to stay there for a few more days.
Sienna sensed sothing unusual, her heart pounding incessantly.
Ding!
[Caleb Sinclair will return to Imperial City at 4:50 PM tomorrow and has arranged to et with Vivian Nash in room 1408 at The Crestview Hotel. He has bought matching bracelet gifts for both Vivian and you.]
Seeing the ssage pop up at the top of her phone, her heart suddenly stilled and lost its warmth.
Just as she thought.
He really got back together with Vivian Nash.
Even though she suspected Vivian wanted to harm the child in her womb, he could still forgive her so easily.
"Honey? What’s wrong?" The video was still on. Seeing her teary eyes, Caleb’s tender voice softened, "Don’t cry. Do you miss ?"
He knew pregnant won tended to be sentintal.
Sienna didn’t evade, staring at him through the screen. It seed like each ti she was hurt, he was genuinely concerned and worried.
But every ti, the end result was only disappointnt.
As if wagering, her nasal voice was slightly ethereal, "Yeah, I miss you. Can’t you co back earlier?"
Listening to her, Caleb felt sothing in his heart completely collapse. He couldn’t bother with his arrangent with Vivian anymore and promised directly to Sienna, "Okay, honey, I’ll co back tomorrow afternoon, alright? Don’t cry."
"Really? You’re not lying to ?"
"Really." Caleb chuckled helplessly, "How can I not co back when my little pregnant wife is so delicate? Work can wait; you’re always the most important."
Each word he spoke was like a sharp dagger, relentlessly stabbing into her.
For him, she was indeed important.
But in every matter, he seed to have another choice.
She suppressed the sting in her eyes, trying to lighten her tone, "Okay, I’ll wait for you to co ho. I’ve been craving your lotus root and pork ribs soup."
