Breakup?!

Sienna Monroe stared at those two words, her eyes filled with shock and disbelief.

The five million breakup fee was nothing compared to that villa worth over twenty million.

She was surprised that Caleb Sinclair would actually break up with Vivian Nash.

He had clearly defended Vivian in the office before, so why did he want to break up now?

Could it be because of her suggestion, making him suspect that Vivian intended to harm the child in her womb?

She suppressed the chaos of her thoughts, holding her phone as she walked to the study room door.

Caleb’s study was separate from hers, but adjacent. Both were quiet people; almost all the doors in the villa were magnetically silent sliding doors.

These doors opened, closed, and locked without much noise.

The soundproofing was also quite good.

Sienna tried gently sliding the door open, finding it unlocked, creating a gap of four or five centiters.

Caleb’s office was on the right side of the door, conveniently blocked by a classical hollow wooden carving. She had already turned on the recording, and Caleb’s voice, laced with hidden anger, ca through from inside.

"Are you saying today’s incident was unjustified, but wasn’t that photo Stella Yates posted in the group yesterday taken by you?"

"Did I not tell you that while we’re together, Sienna must never find out! You’re also not allowed to do anything that would hurt her or damage my relationship with her! Vivian, this is my bottom line!"

On the phone, Vivian must have said sothing; outside the door, Sienna couldn’t hear it clearly, but she could guess that Vivian was probably putting on that innocent and pitiful look, tears in her eyes claiming she’s wronged.

At this mont, her heart felt heavy.

So Caleb had made such an agreent with Vivian.

Even without conclusive evidence, he decisively proposed a breakup with Vivian just because she might harm Sienna.

Does that touch her?

Does it make her happy?

Knowing that in his heart she was much more important than Vivian, does it make her elated and proud?

No!

She only felt it was pathetic, the bitterness in her mouth spreading throughout her body, turning into bone-chilling pain and numbness.

Caleb’s love was real, but so was his infidelity and betrayal.

If he now turned back, completely cutting ties with Vivian, and she chose to remain oblivious,

Imagining it this way, her body felt infested like with lice, shaking uncontrollably in discomfort.

Nausea, retching, wanting to vomit.

She couldn’t do it.

The scenes of him holding and passionately kissing Vivian vividly replayed, she feared every endless night would bring these dreams back, reminding her again and again of the excruciating pain of that ti.

In her youth, she believed that love could overco any obstacle.

Now she finally believed the saying, love is worthless, no matter how deep it is, it inevitably ends in regret.

Lost in thought, Caleb’s cold, decisive voice drifted lightly back into her ears.

"That’s it, stop crying. Let’s part on good terms. Tomorrow, I’ll transfer five million as a breakup fee."

On the phone, Vivian couldn’t believe he was proposing a breakup, crying her heart out, "I really didn’t do it, why won’t you believe ? Did Sienna say sothing to you?"

Caleb frowned, feeling a slight tug at his heart from her crying.

This was the choice he made after weighing the pros and cons.

Recalling Sienna’s suspicions yesterday, he regained his resolve, coldly saying, "I repeat, don’t do anything detrintal to Sienna!"

Vivian’s weak, sweet voice was thick with tears, "Caleb, we’ve been together for so long, don’t you know ? I never did anything to harm Sienna."

Caleb calculated when Sienna would be out from her bath, and without further entanglent with Vivian, he hung up and blocked her number.

Sienna seized the mont, pushed open the door, and walked in, hiding the hurt in her eyes, the word "husband" stuck on her tongue, unable to be spoken.

"Caleb Sinclair?"

Suddenly hearing her voice, Caleb’s hand shook slightly, quickly putting down his phone, walking towards her, already with a gentle smile on his face, "Hmm? Finished your bath?"

"Hmm." Sienna eyed his face, "What were you doing?"

Caleb smiled calmly, "Reading a few emails sent from overseas. After you went in for your bath, I called Dr. Lewis too, he said you shouldn’t take dicines casually while pregnant. Cold compress now, then hot compress after 24 hours. I’ve prepared the ice bags, I’ll get them."

Seeing his calm deanor, Sienna felt like there was a plug blocking her chest, a bit stifling, making it hard to breathe.

She was afraid her words would reveal her emotions, softly and simply said "Okay."

Caleb remained very patient with her.

Even though the room was heated, the ice bag was still too cold, he wrapped it in a towel, gently placing it on her bruise, chatting to distract her attention when she winced in pain.

After about fifteen minutes of cold compress, he put the ice bag away, hearing Sienna say she was hungry, he promptly made her beef noodles.

The noodles were her favorite handmade noodles.

He worked quickly, kneading and rolling the dough, you couldn’t tell he was a decision-maker managing a company.

In about forty minutes, she had a bowl of steaming, delicious beef noodles to eat.

The noodles were bouncy, the beef tender, the taste excellent.

Caleb’s culinary skills had indeed improved quite a bit, but after a few bites, the bitterness in her mouth grew stronger, eventually tasting like chewing wax.

She put down her chopsticks and took a sip of warm water.

Caleb noticed, "You’re done?"

"Hmm."

Caleb smiled, taking the bowl, Sienna knew what he was going to do, slightly furrowing her brow and shifting her gaze away, "I’m heading upstairs to lie down."

"Go ahead, sleep if you’re tired."

That night, Sienna slept very deeply.

In the second half of the night, it felt as if she were falling into an abyss, dark with not a hint of light, her body suspended, fearfully and frantically grabbing at the empty air around her.

With a sudden "swish," the darkness disappeared, the sky was blue and the sun’s rays were scorchingly bright, the lake’s surface sparkling.

Sienna’s gaze swept around, fixing on the woman standing by the shore, wearing a black dress, her long black hair was tossed by the wind, she was barefoot, holding a brown wooden box, moving forward into the lake as if soullessly.

The water reached her ankles, calves, knees...

Sienna wanted to call out to her, but no matter how loudly she shouted, the woman remained unresponsive.

Until the water reached the woman’s waist, suddenly Sienna saw her face clearly.

Those hollow, despair-filled eyes, and that pale, sunken face.

It was her own!
