Even in the warm sunlight, the morning breeze carried a hint of chill.
Sienna Monroe still felt a chill run down her spine upon hearing her eerie voice, causing her shoulders to tremble involuntarily.
How could she not see through Caleb Sinclair, when she couldn’t even truly see her friend of nearly a decade either?
Thinking about it, she realized she was truly blinded.
Blinded in the eyes, and even more so in the heart.
During that period of insomnia, she often doubted herself, wondering just how foolish she had to be to be deceived by the two of them for over a year.
The lancholy in her heart was like thick ink that couldn’t be dissolved, but her expression was still dazed, and her once sweet smile turned awkward, "What... what is it? Out of the blue..."
Vivian Nash lifted her chin, looking down at her with a smug air.
Sarcastically, she said, "Haven’t you noticed that Caleb Sinclair has had a lot of business trips this year? He actually cheated on you since last year,
those so-called business trips and overti were just excuses to deceive you."
"Impossible!"
Sienna’s expression stiffened, her pupils contracting sharply, answering firmly and resolutely.
Yet she stood frozen as though struck by lightning, as if a bucket of icy, piercing water was poured on her face, shock rapidly spreading and exploding from the depths of her eyes.
When she opened her mouth again, she was sowhat speechless, and her firmness began to crack, "Vivian, this joke is not funny at all, don’t..."
"Who do you think he’s accompanying on those business trips and overti sessions?"
Sienna’s reaction greatly amused Vivian, who snickered, "Guess whose child is in my belly?"
Sienna’s heart inexplicably sped up.
She calmly raised her hand to adjust the pinhole cara hidden in the button on her chest.
Pretending to look uneasy at Vivian, "What... do you an?"
"It’s Caleb’s. The child in my belly is Caleb’s." She relayed the dreadful news to Sienna word by word, "Every ti he went on those trips or stayed late,
it was to be with , and even the gifts he brought back from ’business trips’ were ones I picked out for him."
While it wasn’t as shocking as receiving it through a ssage, Sienna’s heart still couldn’t completely settle, as though soone had punched her directly in the chest, drawing all air from her lungs.
Fate suddenly unveiled its gentle mask, revealing its sharp claws.
Finally, it had co to this.
From today, this friendship was well and truly over.
There was no point in continuing the pretense.
Suppressing the emotions in her heart, she stared at Vivian with wide eyes, shaking her head in disbelief and deep distress.
"No, no way! You’re lying! Caleb wouldn’t betray ! He treats so well, loves so much, how could he ever betray ?"
Love her?
Caleb Sinclair indeed loves Sienna Monroe.
Vivian asked herself again, did Caleb have her in his heart? Did he love her?
This question, she couldn’t even answer.
She had no confidence that Caleb loved her too.
Vivian’s eyes heated up, yet no tears ca, only searing hatred and unwillingness surged in her eyes, burning her retinas like lava.
Her hands trembled uncontrollably, nails digging deep into her palms, but she felt no pain, strong obsession rampaging through her veins.
In a furious roar, she shouted, "Stop deceiving yourself, why would I need to lie to you? If he truly loved you, would he have cheated? Even knowing we are best friends, yet he still dated and slept with !
Do you think that’s love? His good treatnt of you is only due to your family background and your uncle’s influence, without those, do you think he would have married you? Sienna, stop dreaming!"
She was determined to obliterate all of Sienna’s hope with her own hands, dragging her into the dust.
To make her thoroughly disgraced and worth nothing.
So everyone would see, the eldest daughter of the Northgate’s Monroe Family of scholars, the Third Young Mistress Sinclair from Southcroft, was only thus.
Sienna’s chest heaved, tears welling in her eyes, as she retreated a few steps in her breakdown, as if she never knew her.
"Vivian Nash, we were the best of friends, I treated you like my own sister, why do you have to do this?"
The word "friend" had at so point beco Vivian’s critical point.
Probably from hearing too many similar mockeries from others, "Oh, Vivian Nash, you’ve made it, clinging to soone so tightly, perhaps one day Sienna in a generous mood, might gift you the bags, clothes, shoes, or lipsticks she’s used, and you would flourish."
The facts proved that being close to Sienna, she indeed got many benefits.
Many things, Sienna would buy doubles and gift her a set.
Even after graduation, it was Sienna who helped her get a job.
All these years, she felt like a green leaf to highlight Sienna, like an accessory that could be discarded at any mont.
The self-esteem she valued had been trampled over and over again.
She loathed Sienna’s charity and sympathy.
She despised her superior attitude.
Vivian’s face twisted, malice flashing in her eyes, she sought to hurt her with every extre word, "Why? Because Caleb has in his heart, he can’t let go of , he says I’m way more fun in bed than you,
you can’t imagine how gentle he is calling my na tenderly when we’re intimate, he craves my body, he finds experiences with that he’s never had before, we’ve tried every position."
One had to admit, Vivian’s words sparked like a match on dry wood, igniting Sienna’s heart.
It hurt, but not intensely.
Every position experience, indeed.
A trace of bitterness rose in her throat, forcibly swallowed back down.
She calmly estimated the ti, thinking Caleb should be arriving soon.
To drive soone to destruction, they must first be driven mad.
The setup was just about right, and it was ti to give Vivian one last blow.
Her body swayed as if the world had suddenly collapsed, such an impact leaving her without any support.
She just stared at Vivian, and after a long while, let out a pale and powerless laugh, "You’re telling all this just to provoke , to force to divorce Caleb? Vivian, you’re so naive,
why should I fulfill your desire? As long as I don’t divorce him, you’ll be nothing more than an illegitimate mistress for life! A mouse that everyone wants to beat,
how do you get off thinking you’re superior to ?! And your child will be labeled as a ’bastard’, living a life unable to hold their head high because of you as a mother!"
She hurled those words with fury, her breathing slightly labored, lifted her heavily laden leg as if filled with lead, and turned to leave.
But before taking a step, her hair was suddenly yanked hard, and she cried out in pain.
Vivian trembled all over with rage at her words of "mistress" and "mouse everyone beats", and "bastard child", snapping the last fragile thread of her rationality.
And the murderous intent hidden in her heart surged up overwhelmingly towards her.
"You and the child in your belly should both die, should both die!"
As Sienna was violently shoved away, all she heard at that mont was Vivian’s words as cold and hellish as a reaper’s, and the next instant, she crashed harshly into the column three or four ters away.
The "bang" sound was particularly jarring on this seemingly tranquil rooftop.
The mont she collapsed on the ground, she seed to hear Caleb’s voice calling her na, in a dazed state.
Her body curled up, she clutched her belly, groaning in agony, but a barely noticeable arch appeared at the corner of her lips.
He made it in ti.
The act had now served its ultimate purpose.
Caleb Sinclair indeed made it, he vaguely heard Sienna’s voice while on the stairs, but couldn’t hear the content, so he quickened his pace.
To his shock, just as he arrived, he witnessed Vivian grabbing Sienna’s hair, and in an instant, Vivian had already pushed her away.
He didn’t even have ti to stop it.
Vivian, hearing the familiar voice, hung her hands mid-air, staring at Caleb in a daze, her breath caught.
The malice in her eyes instantly turned into panic and disarray.
Caleb dropped the papers in his hand, stormy rage in his dark eyes shot straight at Vivian, but it only lingered for a second, before he rushed to Sienna with gust-like speed.
He scooped her into his arms, those peach blossom eyes beneath the lenses now flooded with blinding fear, "Sienna, Sienna... don’t scare ..."
Sienna’s trembling hand grabbed onto his clothes, tearful bitterness flowing out, "The baby... my baby..."
