[ Damon]

It took the group most of the night to get rid of the cops and hunters, and whoever fricken else had been chasing them. Then when the helicopters no longer followed them, Damon had to keep pushing his n and Es forwards. Kane remained on his back the whole ti, making the Alpha tired from the added weight, but it didn’t matter.

His Beta had been on the brink of death, and his mate was with the pack at ho. Damon growled his anger at almost failing Kane and that he had to keep pushing everyone.

By the ti noon ca, Damon had let the group rest. He settled Kane down and headed in the direction of a farmhouse they passed on the way. Finn followed him, leaving Es to quietly pace, flipping that damned knife around and keeping guard of Beta Kane. Ajax shifted into his panther form and rested beside Kane, his lids automatically closing.

Damon didn’t know how much effort it took to fly, but the shapeshifter deserved so sleep. He had been working nonstop since Aila had been taken.

Even though Ajax was a pain in the ass, it was obvious he cared for Aila, and his annoying comntary lightened the group’s mood.

"What’s going to happen now?" Finn mind-linked him as he jogged beside Damon. The two wolves were out in the open now, making the pair nervous now that humans in the area were aware of them.

Damon huffed, his ears pointing backwards montarily before flicking back up, alert to their surroundings. "The world will be in chaos for a while. We will use it to our advantage, and if I know my angel, she won’t stay with Cassius any longer. He crossed a line," he replied, then grumbled quietly. "She should have known he would cross it."

They slowed their approach to the sizeable red-painted farm with hay barrels stacked to one side and the usual tractors and ploughing equipnt among the standard farming essentials. Further down, Damon could hear livestock that added to the delightful sll of the surrounding area.

Damon looked at the dirt tracks leading up to an area of flattened grass where two vehicles normally parked. Nobody was ho which was apparent from the lack of cars, but soone was working in the field. The pair shifted swiftly and walked butt naked into one of the sheds and glanced at each other when they found so dungarees and worn-down trousers and a red chequered shirt to wear.

At the sa ti, they lunged forwards, both grabbing for the shirt and trousers, but in doing so, their combined strength ripped the pieces apart. Damon glared at Finn, who looked away and mumbled an apology. With a sigh, the Alpha grabbed the dungarees and threw the smaller pair to Finn.

"You know, Cass is a piece of shit, but he was chill when we worked together," Finn mumbled nonchalantly in response, continuing on with their earlier conversation. The Delta jumped around as the dungarees ran tight on his legs and ass, making Damon cringe as he fitted easily into his that was just right.

Alpha Damon glared at Finn, waiting for the Delta to get to the point. "I’m not saying we don’t do what we can to free Aila, just I can understand her reluctance until now."

"You think she’s been reluctant to return to us?" Damon asked sharply, crossing his thick biceps against his chest. His pectorals bulged in response as he watched the Delta with narrowed eyes.

Finn shook his head. "I think she’s confused on top of trying to make the right decision. Cassius can be very convincing, whether by words of a seductive kind.. I’m not saying she’s falling for him, chill." He raised his hands and stepped back. "I an, he has a way with words, and if that won’t work, then threatening and using her.. vampire side against her would also work.

But you saw how Aila was strolling into the hunters’ HQ seeking revenge.."

Finn leaned against the wall, his brown hair and eyes darker in the shadows. The Delta stared at him, his expression serious compared to the ridiculous snug-fitting dungarees. "She won’t falter now."

"Why say all this?" Damon asked and watched the man shrug. He continued. "I know, Aila. She’s kinder than she gives herself credit for, and Cass doesn’t need it. I know her.. she will co back to us."

Finn nodded along, then looked down at his attire. "Bro, I can’t walk around like this."

Damon followed his gaze and snorted. Finn didn’t even bother trying to clasp the straps around his shoulders.

"If you can find sothing else in the next ten mins, go ahead." He gestured his hand to the shed and the farmhouse across from them.

If Es was in her right mind, she would be useful right now. But he didn’t want to use her for sothing so small as getting Finn clothes that fit so he wouldn’t stress over the material ripping at every movent. Besides, Es seed fatigued, and he knew it wasn’t from physical stresses but the use of her shadow magic or whatever it was.

On top of that, she was emotionally stressed, what with Gabriel gone.

Es was doing a far better job than him when Aila was taken away from him. Although, Damon was beginning to wonder if he should have left her in the field. She might leave to find Gabriel; even if Ajax woke up, she could overpower him easily. But it didn’t matter, it was her choice, and they could get by without her, no matter her remarkable skills.

Finn dipped out of the shed in search of other clothes. In the anti, Damon scanned the area, checked in on Es and Kane via a mind-link and then checked the bond, wondering how his mate was. Aila hadn’t put a wall up between them again, and he doubted she would now.

His mate, his angel, had healed him, and he was so grateful and pissed at the sa ti. He could have lost her, and he’d already taken a nail to his heart the last ti she died on him. Whenever he was alone like this, his thoughts turned to her and how much he wanted her in his arms, to hold tightly and at the sa ti to take her, claim her lips, her body as his again.
