"What are you doing...?" Snape couldn't help but comnt as he watched the redhead clinging to him, stepping gently in rhythm with the music, and he followed suit with little choice.
"Sorry..." was all Snape heard as he raised an eyebrow at the girl.
"That doesn't answer my question." He spoke while wondering when she would face him again, but she refused.
"..." Lily did not respond.
Snape just sighed as he continued dancing, waiting to see when the girl would speak to him. It was quite obvious that he had made it clear he didn't want her near him, but now with her there, he simply wouldn't push her away.
So he stayed there, dancing while many people kept their eyes on them at that mont, causing many different reactions.
Starting with Professor Slughorn himself, who was talking with so students at a table when he saw them dancing, which made him look at them with surprise. "Well... this is unexpected... but really interesting!" He said with a smile.
After all, this professor knew their history very well as they had a relationship that broke down; now, despite nearly 2 years without healthy contact, they were there together.
"Hey hey... is this serious?" Lucinda seed to bite her lip upon seeing this.
"Let them dance... What's the harm?" Pandora asked with a friendly smile.
"You danced with him... you don't feel any jealousy...? After all, you could have danced with your friend, but you declined, waiting for Snape to dance with you, since you didn't even refuse him." Clarissa looked at Pandora a bit strangely.
It was no surprise to Clarissa that the girl felt sothing for Snape, after all, from what she had discovered, it was with her that Snape spent most of his ti.
"That..." Pandora blushed slightly at the question, her skin easily turning rosy. "I like Snape, he's a good friend." She spoke.
"..." Clarisse clearly didn't believe those words while wondering if she would at least tell the truth.
"But Snape is clearly soone who isn't looking for a relationship right now..." Pandora continued, and all the other three girls looked at her at that mont.
"What do you an?!" Lucinda asked.
"He's not looking for a serious relationship... sohow he doesn't seem to want that, as if he doesn't want to relate to soone from this world, but I don't think that can't change in the future! That's why he will only choose soone who can behave like a wife, and who isn't annoying and doesn't stop him from doing his things... especially soone who tries to control him... Snape also seems destined to create a harem..." Pandora said with a simple smile while the girls there were stunned.
"A harem? You really think he's going to make a harem?" Lucinda was stunned and horrified at the sa ti.
Clarissa pondered while Bellatrix seed to grimace at that.
"That damn... womanizer!" Bellatrix muttered quietly.
"Well, that's what I think will happen. So you'd better behave!" Pandora spoke with a smile, while the girls each harbored their own thoughts.
"Hey, is she really there? How can this happen!?" Lily's friends couldn't believe the scene unfolding as they watched their friend continue to dance in the middle of the dance floor with Severus Snape.
"I don't know. She just got up and went straight there. She never took her eyes off him dancing with the other girls and just approached him." One of them said.
"She's drunk. If she does sothing stupid that she regrets, it's on you!" Another slightly drunk one laughed.
"Now it's our fault? Is it our fault that she has an undefined relationship with that boy?" Another friend retorted.
"But he treats her like trash. They shouldn't even be together," The third friend complained.
"Oh, you like a guy who also treats you poorly most of the ti, staying with him, but he hasn't acknowledged you and there are even rumors that he flirts with other girls... What are you talking about?" Another girl responded, starting a debate.
"It's like they say, right? The good guys aren't always the ones who get attention." Another laughed, also drunk.
"Rember, whatever happens, we have to go there and help her!" They concluded as they continued to watch.
At another table, the atmosphere was not very good. Soone looked ready to storm onto the dance floor. "Calm down, Jas," one of them spoke.
"How am I supposed to calm down? Why is she dancing with that Bastard?!" Jas exclaid from his table, surrounded by his usual group, who were also frequently invited to parties by Professor Slughorn.
"You know it's not safe to ss with that guy. He's dangerous..." Lupin said, still rembering the pain of all his broken bones after his last transformation on that day his friends lured Snape to the spot where he turned into a werewolf. He couldn't imagine how soone had beaten him with re brute force that broke all his bones. It was scary.
"I know, but you should have invited her. Why didn't you go to Lily's table!?" Black said to Jas, a bit frustrated for not having the courage to confront Snape, he might even ss with his scariest cousin.
"I would have invited her, but I was a bit shy..." Potter murmured. He had spent the whole party trying to muster the courage to go to the Gryffindor girls' table and ask Lily to dance. He kept his eyes on her the whole ti but couldn't gather enough courage because he felt very shy, while he was shocked to see her going up to Snape on the dance floor, after the bastard had already danced with several won.
"I want to go there. I want to stop this dance. This is outrageous! Lily might be being manipulated by that scoundrel!" Jas exclaid angrily. "Snape calls her 'mudblood' and now Lily is dancing with that idiot, this should be impossible!" Jas continued to exclaim like a madman.
"You can't do anything about it, Jas. Try to calm down." Pettigrew murmured.
"No! I won't calm down! We have to do sothing!" He decided, as the others looked on, wondering if they should help...
"Alright, let's take action, then," the friends concluded.
"Don't worry. It won't be anything that could get us expelled," Jas assured. "But I'm afraid that not only Snape will be hit. So we have to wait for Lily to move away from him..." He thought of sothing before speaking again.
"Let's do this: wait until the end of the dance. As soon as Lily steps away, I plan to throw a paint balloon at them. He will surely get caught and will have to leave the party humiliated!!" Jas spoke with a tone that almost seed psychopathic.
The others exchanged looks, but in the end, they agreed. "Alright, let's help him."
They quickly began to prepare.
anwhile, Snape continued dancing with Lily until the end of the party. She still hadn't averted her gaze, keeping her face pressed against his chest, as they continued to make their way across the dance floor.
The music had ended. At this mont, Snape, expecting her to leave, seed a bit disappointed when he realized they kept dancing to the next song. Snape just sighed, continuing.
"You know..." Suddenly, her voice was heard for the first ti. "I was thinking if, sohow, Severus... since I've known you, I always rember you never trying to attract attention in school. But this year was very different... I don't rember when I noticed that you had beco so active in school this year, it surpassed all the other years combined... maybe I had noticed it as soon as you argued with Professor McGonagall, it was surprising and shocking to see you expelled from your class..." She finally spoke, but without looking at him directly.
"What can I say? I'm acting the way I want to..." Snape spoke calmly, but Lily seed to ignore his words.
"You know, today I see that I made a mistake," she began to speak in a sad tone and Severus raised an eyebrow. She had done things that he didn't like at all, and because of that, he wanted to keep his distance.
"And I truly apologize for everything I did..." she continued. "You may never forgive , but, one day, if you really can..." She lifted her head, looking at him with eyes glistening with tears. "I would like you to forgive , if you give another chance."
Snape looked at her for a while and knew that, although he couldn't sll it, she was clearly drunk. His system had quickly begun to neutralize any effect of her breath, despite Snape being surprised that he hadn't noticed it earlier.
Severus looked at her seriously, unfazed by the emotional girl. "The person you knew died a long ti ago. He will never return," he said honestly.
Yet, she continued, undeterred by his words. "Seeing you now, I realize I was wrong. I... really admit I was upset when you called 'mudblood.' But I still want to try to rebuild our friendship, I know you are a good person, Snape... even now..." she murmured.
"Why now? Is it because you are drunk?" Snape raised an eyebrow as the dance continued. He had already noticed a balloon being lifted in the middle of the hall. It seed that the Marauders, once again, were trying to pull a prank on him, but were holding off for so reason, which was clearly Lily there.
"Yes, I admit I am drunk, but at least now I have the courage to say everything I feel in recent months," she replied in a tearful tone. "I missed many opportunities to tell you how I feel."
"Look, Lily, that Severus you knew no longer exists. Not even my mories are in my mind. I have erased them myself. All I rember about you is that you were a traitor..." Snape said seriously, playing the card of erasing his own mories, sothing he found quite reasonable at this mont to make her back off for good.
"You erased your mories?" She couldn't help but be stunned, looking at him before lowering her gaze. She looked up at him again, this ti in a softer tone. "Then, let start over. Let's try to create a new friendship from scratch. I don't want you to recover your mories to rember . I want us to create new ones. I don't want to be that traitorous person you rember, Severus. I just ask for a chance," she said, nearly in tears this ti.
Snape looked at her for a while. "You're drunk. If you want to talk about sothing with , try tomorrow, if you happen to find ..." he said.
"Don't worry, I have sothing here that can take all my drunkenness away, given by my friends..." she replied as she began to search for sothing in her dress. She seed clumsy, moving away a bit before pulling out a small flask that a friend had given her. But her hands lacked coordination, and she ended up dropping it.
Snape stepped back, as the Marauders and their friends watched the scene. Quickly, they launched the balloon, which began to fall, but Snape moved swiftly. She still approached trying to pick up the flask, and Lily would also have been hit.
"No!!" Jas exclaid, trying to stop the balloon, but it was already too late.
Snape, realizing what was happening, grabbed the girl before Lily could reach for her flask and disappeared in the next mont. The balloon suddenly fell in the middle of the place, catching everyone's attention, even the music stopped, but there was no sign of Snape and Lily.
