[Chapter Size: 1800 Words.]
Third Person POV
London.
...
...
"8 bodies... all decapitated... their faces show their deaths were anything but easy..." A man approached his leader after inspecting the cri scene.
"So, we still don't know anything about what happened here..." Moody, who was in charge of the team, said as he surveyed the bloodbath.
More and more Aurors entered the house, grimacing at the sight. "Man, I feel like throwing up..." one of the n murmured, clearly disturbed, as he made a face at the brutal scene.
"Not so fast. We must figure out what happened here. Hold back your vomit—there's a serial killer on the loose, and we need to catch them..." Moody replied while the n inspected the bodies, using magic to try to identify any clues. However, all that remained were lifeless corpses. The killer had left no trace, acting like a professional.
Moody ignored the murmurs and moved forward, watching as so of his n attempted to assist a Muggle lying unconscious in the kitchen. He was the only source of information about what had happened there.
"He's almost waking up, sir," one of the n inford as the Muggle began blinking, regaining consciousness after receiving so potions. His eyes narrowed with difficulty, dazed, until they adjusted to the light again. Finally, he opened them fully, looking around at the n surrounding him.
"Who are you? What are you doing to ?" the man asked, imdiately frightened by the fact that he was surrounded.
"Calm down, sir. You fainted. We need to know exactly what happened here," Moody said as the man looked at him suspiciously.
"What do you an? I don't rember anything, just that I was drinking until there was a knock at the door..." the man replied, grimacing as if feeling intense pain in his body, likely a result of recent exposure to an Unforgivable Curse.
The n exchanged glances. One of them spoke quietly, "Sothing's not right." He looked at his leader, who seed about to take action in such cases.
Moody sighed. "Sir, I need you to look into my eyes," he said, having no other options. The Muggle, nad Tobias, looked at him strangely, unaware that his mind was being invaded at that mont. Moody's n hoped he could extract the information they needed, even knowing the act was illegal.
After a mont, Moody shook his head, frustrated. "There's nothing. His na is Severus Snape, and his mind is clean. It was erased before whoever did this left the scene."
"Tobias Snape...? Related to Severus Snape?" one of them asked, recognizing the na due to the recent scandal at Hogwarts involving a conflict where a classmate openly attacked and injured Snape.
"His father... But Snape didn't co back here after Hogwarts. His father has a sick hatred for the boy, and it seems the kid doesn't live here anymore," Moody comnted, surprised that a man could hate his own son so much. Trying to figure out why, Moody could only co up with petty reasons, but that wasn't his problem. He still needed to uncover what was happening here.
"What should we do now, leader...?" one of the n asked Moody.
"..." Moody was pensive; the situation was highly unusual.
"Hey, Captain!" soone called out. "I recognize these wizards. That one was being hunted..." He pointed to a decapitated head on the floor. "...or at least, what's left of him," he murmured, finishing his sentence.
Moody nodded and responded, "Apparently, everyone here was involved in illicit activities. We need to find out what they were doing here. Take the Muggle upstairs and treat him." He directed so of the n.
At that mont, soone rushed in from outside. "Sir Moody! The Minister is here!" he announced, causing the others to turn toward the door.
Moody frowned but soon saw a woman accompanied by well-dressed n entering the scene.
Eugenia Jenkins entered, grimacing at the grueso scene and the blood-painted walls.
"Minister Jenkins, you ca in person?" Moody murmured, surprised.
"Of course I'm here, Moody. This day is extrely strange... Kidnapping, a headless body, and now a cri scene... And first, there's a story circulating all over the city about an angel in the sky. Second, they say this 'angel' ca from this house," said the Minister, pausing for a mont as she glanced again at the mutilated corpses, her expression one of deep disgust.
The n accompanying her clearly disliked what they were seeing and seed to wish they were anywhere else. The Minister then looked directly at Moody with a serious tone.
"Any clues about who did this?" she asked.
"No... not even my magical eye can find anything... This only happens when..." Moody began to voice his suspicions, but Jenkins was quicker to complete his thought.
"...when the Hogsade killer is involved, right?" she asked calmly.
"Yes... And that spell, which alerted this whole part of the city, seems to have been just to warn us. It looks like he's mocking us, calling us to clean up his bloody ss..." Moody murmured.
"This is the house of that boy who was attacked at Hogwarts, isn't it?" she comnted as Moody nodded.
"Exactly... His father has no mory of what happened, but his body shows signs of torture..." Moody remarked.
"Because he was attacked... That boy was their target, wasn't he? I heard he made plenty of enemies," she said, crossing her arms and ignoring the bodies around her.
"Yes... It's very likely that the prominent families are trying to retaliate for what he supposedly did, according to the rumors about the Slytherin students..." Moody explained, while the others listened silently, Tobias being taken upstairs as the house remained crowded on the first floor.
"Dealing with them is a pain... and I often have to yield to their demands..." she murmured to herself before continuing. "I need you to find Severus Snape," she requested at last.
"You think he's a suspect, Minister Jenkins? A student?" one of the high-ranking Ministry officials standing beside her asked.
"I don't really know... But that boy is always involved in strange things or very close to where they happen... And it seems that the headless body found in front of the Ministry... was one of the kidnappers... What a headache..." she comnted.
"And about the one who was kidnapped this morning... Could it be him?" another man raised the question, while the Minister had to admit the possibility. They were investigating the disappearance of the teenager by dark wizards, but no formal complaint had been made about a missing child. This now raised the question of whether Snape could be the one.
"My lady, there are so wizards living on this street. There's at least a middle-aged wizard and an elderly man a few hundred ters from here, as well as a girl who studies at Hogwarts. She lives in a house just across from this one," one of the n accompanying the Minister said, reading so Ministry-registered reports.
"Really? Then summon this girl. I want to speak with her," the Minister ordered imdiately, and her n left.
Lily appeared a mont later, escorted by Aurors, looking cautious as the Minister approached her.
"From what I see here, your na is Lily Evans," she said, reading the girl's file, which noted her excellent grades at Hogwarts but lacked much detail, as not everything was registered for everyone. She continued, "Do you know what happened here? Can you tell us?"
Lily seed a bit nervous speaking to the Minister, as she was such a high-ranking authority, even greater than the headmaster of Hogwarts. Lily knew Snape was in trouble... Although she didn't know exactly what had happened, her instinct was to protect him.
"I..." Lily seed a bit flustered but continued, "We didn't hear anything from my house, but I saw the explosion shooting into the sky from there. It was sothing... so beautiful..." She couldn't help but smile at the mory, thinking of the angel and how it was unlike anything she had ever seen.
Hearing this, the Minister frowned. "So she doesn't know anything either..." The Minister sighed.
"Minister, I know her." Arthur Weasley, husband of Molly Weasley, stepped forward at that mont. He was a low-ranking Auror with a budding career, but even so, he raised his voice to vouch for Lily. After all, she was part of the Order of the Phoenix, and Arthur trusted that Lily wouldn't lie to him. "She's trustworthy. I'm sure she didn't see anything."
The Minister nodded and turned back to the girl. "Alright. You may go." Lily gave a small nod, turned around, and left, seeming relieved as the Minister stood, deep in thought.
Lily walked away pensively, once again thinking about how she didn't want to betray Snape. She was covering for him, feeling guilty about doing anything that might harm him, even if it ant lying to the Ministry of Magic.
"It seems we're back to square one," the Minister remarked. Just then, more Aurors arrived on the scene, Apparating nearby and keeping Muggle onlookers at bay.
The arriving Aurors drew everyone's attention as they approached, their expressions grim. "Minister, we have an issue with a noble family..." one of them said urgently.
"What is it now?" she asked, visibly weary.
"The Norton family was attacked. All the n guarding the residence were killed with blades. Mr. Nott himself was tortured to death. His wife regained consciousness after being attacked and imdiately contacted the Ministry." As the words left his mouth, the area fell silent for a mont. Everyone exchanged tense glances.
"Damn it. Clean up this ss in the Muggle's house, and let's go see what happened. Moody, I want you to co with . Let's check on the Norton family," the Minister declared, her brow furrowed.
The day was shaping up to be a disaster: a kidnapped boy, a body left in front of the Ministry, eight people murdered in a Muggle house, and now pure-blood families being attacked and killed. This was sure to cause a scandal the next day. But there was no ti for regret. They needed to act swiftly to uncover who was behind this, as it seed sothing as terrible as the rise of the Dark Lord was beginning to stir in the wizarding world.
While so worked to track down Snape, other teams were dispatched to deal with the tragedy at the Norton residence. No one could have guessed that, at this very mont, a shadowy figure was moving across the rooftops of the black market, calmly observing the activity below. Figures wearing skull masks were trading in all sorts of cris in the bustling streets that night.
The shadow lingered for a ti before vanishing. That night, the wizarding world would realize that even those who considered themselves untouchable—or served the Dark Lord—were being hunted like rats by soone whose identity remained a mystery.
anwhile, a sixth-year student moved forward, resolute, intent on claiming more lives.
