In the world of HDXD, there was a phrase every necromancer knew by heart.

"Dües Kli Arge ki Lao Antriga."

Roughly translated, it ant... Life is Borrowed, Death is Earned.

For all that it is worth, the mantra itself was more than just a saying...all things considered.

It was a fact of the world, to say the least, a principle etched into the bones of reality. Life was fleeting, a temporary state of being, while death was the only certainty, the one thing any and all could be sure of to see.

It was the final paynt for a debt all living things owed.

To die and return was to transcend the natural order, to sever oneself from the shackles of mortality and beco sothing beyond life, beyond death. Hence the term... Eternal, which was described as soone who had crossed the threshold of life, and peered into the Afterlife. And if they manage to co back, that is what turns a person into an Eternal, it was one of many ways, one fulfills the conditions of joining the supernatural world in HDXD because the Afterlife is a supernatural structure.

And coming in contact with anything supernatural despite not being of the supernatural ans you were touched by the force that was known in the original ga as the Paranormality.

And with that touch ca power.

But power is not sothing freely given when the Paranormality is involve.

The Paranormality was not sothing one could seek out just because they simply wanted to, or they simply could, it was sothing that was for the majority of the ti, akin to unexplainable events, or instances that one stumbled into out of luck, or misfortune.

After all, it was a force beyond reach of all manner of comprehension.

Given that this force is the source of all things supernatural, henceforth it cannot be explained within the domain of common sense, and anything that was a product of it is simply sothing that is considered just what it is.

For example, legends, yokai, monsters, weird events, unexplainable phenona... all of that are a part of the supernatural world, that is the Paranormality in itself.

There were many ways one could cross into the supernatural side of the world. So were born into it, descendants of deities, monsters, or entities beyond mortal understanding. Others were granted a place within it, touched by a god's favor, or cursed by sothing far older.

Henceforth, a Necromancer... or an Eternal was basically soone who saw the Afterlife, and ca back to life after crossing into it, because of this, they gain power over the afterlife, and can usually tap into abilities that typically have to do with the art of controlling and interacting with life and death itself that revolves around the rules of the Afterlife that they cross into.

Keep in mind, there are many different Afterlives out there, they may all revolve around the concept of life and death, but depending on what Afterlife one steps into and cos back from, will depend on what kind of necromantic powers a Necromancer will have, that is what makes eternal unique.

Their power relies on the Afterlife they have co back from.

That was common knowledge after all... well, when it ca to the topic of Necromancy of course, for that reason, when Adam studied, more and more about the topic, he could not help but wonder.

"Say System, given that this is a fanfiction universe, and a lot of shit had to change to make the universe operate properly, is this thod of becoming a Necromancer still possible."

Adam asked the System, which was indeed a valid question to ask at the ti, and she replied back to him, saying as such.

『Well... yeah, in a way. The concept is a bit different in execution, but technically speaking, soone could beco a Necromancer this way, by using an Afterlife as their power source. The thing is, though, establishing that connection isn't sothing just anyone can do. It takes a Lore Ability to manifest the link, to carve out a direct channel between yourself and that realm』

Said System, explaining to Adam just how insanely broken these types of Necromancers truly are.

And she ends it off by saying.

『And let tell you, Necromancers like that? They're beyond just extrely rare. Because if you can actually pull it off... you're basically broken. We're talking about an almost limitless reserve of power drawn straight from an Afterlife itself. At that point, you're not just so ordinary Necromancer anymore, you are a walking embodint of death itself』

"Hmmm I see... damn with Lore's abilities as the main power system it basically allows for every other instance of power to be feasible... given dying and coming back to life, would be a feat in this world, and I guess that's how one can establish a link between to an Afterlife, henceforth beco a very powerful necromancer."

『Natrually yeah, it is quite a very versatile set-up all things considered』

She said to Adam, but on that note, however, Adam's self-studying was now coming to an end. he got up from the chair he sat upon for god knows how long, and closed the To, as he had finished reading it.

And after putting it back on the table, he stretched his arms, and said to himself, recalling his knowledge of the topic at hand.

"Hmmm... I have learned a lot of useful spells, and it's not even his complete power over necromancy."

Adam said, and as if to confirm his words, the System then said.

『You have learned the inherited spell: Negative Touch, Positive Touch』

『You have learned the inherited spell: Dream of the Damned』

『You have learned the inherited spell: Banshee's Cry』

『You have learned the inherited spell: Recall Oblivion』

『You have learned the inherited spell: Convert Corpse』

At the sight of this.

A slow, almost wicked smile crept across Adam's lips.

He had earned this power with his own effort and it felt great.

He had spent months in this space, studying, refining, and absorbing everything he could. And now, his efforts had borne fruit.

Ti felt... irrelevant here to him.

He never grew tired.

Never hungered.

His body remained frozen in a perfect state, all thanks to the Codex freezing his body in ti.

With one last stretch, he leaned back, although this did nothing to him, it was born out of habit.

"Damn... How long have I even been here, now that I think about it, I did hear you recalling soti ago that so months had passed?"

The answer ca instantly.

As the System said to him.

『By the standard ti of the real world: Four months, two weeks, six days, thirteen hours, twenty-one minutes, and forty-seven seconds』

Adam blinked.

"...ehhh...

"WHAA...

"HAHH!"

Then silence, and finally.

"...Holy shit."

He ran a hand through his hair, shaking his head with a chuckle. Four months? It hadn't felt like that long.

『The to you studied was complex. Necromantic theory is not sothing easily understood. And with 3,839 pages of information, your imrsion was expected』

"Yeah, no kidding."

He places a hand on the closed book on the table, eyeing it with newfound respect.

"Now that you ntion it... this thing didn't even look that big."

『Size within the Codex is relative. Every book here appears identical in form, but their contents are... deeper. So contain entire worlds of knowledge for the use of so spells that exist here. Others may hold secrets that could rewrite existence itself, but those are the stronger spell books.』

The mont Adam heard this, a low whistle escaped him.

"That's... terrifying. But also kind of aweso."

Adam said to himself.

And honestly speaking he would like to stay here longer, to learn more.

On that note, however, he had to confirm.

"System, just to confirm are you sure ti in the real world was stop?"

『Yes, and it will remain that way till you return』

"I see, well I will take your word for it, now then how do I get out?"

『You have already form a pact with the Codex, its officially part of your soul now, just will the Codex to set you free』

"Really?! It's that simple?"

『Yes its that simple host』

Replied the System causing Adam to follow her instruction as he said out aloud.

"Ok well lets give this a shot.... Hmmm Pandora Box, I am ready to leave this place, can you kindly send out."

Adam said, and the mont he did, the space around him began to crack like glass till reality around Adam shattered in every direction, and in the next mont, as if a container that contained his being, was suddenly broken into bits around him, allowing him to see the other side.

Adam was then t with the sa bathroom from he was kidnap in, 4 months ago when the Codex took him to the sub-space.

"Wow, would you look at that...

He said softly.

And then continued.

"It really does obey my words... Hmm... I can feel it inside my soul too. Weird, it's not there physically, more like immaterially, yet I can still feel it. How interesting... Oh well, I had my fun inside this space. Ti to go et Minerva."

Adam said as he exited the bathroom and headed toward the courtyard, where Minerva was waiting for him.
