The officer behind her asked while peering at the scroll. Were portraits so bad that they couldn't be used at all? However, instead of answering her, Lord Ren jumped up from his chair and reached forward to hold hands with Yu Dong.
"Madam Dong! Would you be interested in working for the Yan?" Lord Ren asked while holding Yu Dong's hands. His eyes were shining brightly as he said, "You will beco a great addition to the Yan."
Seeing him react like this the officers looked at one another before turning and glancing at the scrolls that were scattered all over the table's surface.
However, as soon as their gaze fell on the scrolls, their eyes widened and for a second they couldn't believe that they were truly seeing sothing so exceptional.
Was it even possible for soone to make such a sketch of a person? It was as if soone had captured and traced the face of the person on the scroll.
It was simply too hard to believe that this was just a portrait that had been drawn by soone. It was so life-like!
No wonder, Lord Ren wanted Miss Yu to beco a part of the Yan.
Yu Dong sighed. She knew that this was going to happen, usually, she just used her skills to make portraits of her husbands but at that mont she had no other choice but to show her skills.
"I am sorry, Lord Ren," said Yu Dong apologetically. "But I have a family and business to care for, but of course, if you need my help in the future, you can co to ."
She glanced at the scrolls on the table before asking, "But this should work right?"
"Of course they would!" Lord Ren agreed at once, these sketches were so realistic that it felt like the real person was sitting in front of him. If they couldn't find the children with these then he didn't know how else would they find their children?
And with those sketches, the search for the children as well as the two Xiao sisters started.
On the other hand in the city, Second Sister Xiao was hiding in a small abandoned house which belonged to an old lady in the town.
She had passed away three months ago and as she had no relatives the house was now empty.
Second Sister Xiao peered out of the window and then slumped down on the floor before glaring at her eldest sister. She asked angrily, "What is the aning of this? Didn't you say that Sister Qiao would never betray us? Why is it that the Yan officers are already looking for us?"
Earlier this morning, she thought that her heart was going to fail. Never once did she expect that one day yan officers would co to her house to arrest her.
Elder Sister Xiao rubbed her chubby hands nervously and said, "I never thought that she would do such a thing. She has always been so kind and understanding, hasn't she?"
"You t her as well," she added, not wanting to take the bla. "She didn't seem like the person who would betray anyone." Elder Sister Xiao's brows were furrowed as she rembered how Sister Qiao had pretended to be close to her.
Second Sister Xiao opened her mouth, she probably wanted to say sothing harsh but swallowed her words back before saying, "Now what are we supposed to do now?"
She peered out of the window and questioned her elder sister angrily, "We can't just stay in this abandoned house, right?" The two of them have left their house without carrying anything with them. They didn't even have two coins to rub together.
Elder Sister Xiao hesitated before saying, "Let's hide for now. There is no point in going back ho, the officers from the yan might be waiting for us."
"And? You want us to stay here for how long?" Second Sister Xiao asked with a look of disbelief on her face.
"Why are you getting angry at ?" Elder Sister Xiao snapped back, not being able to stay quiet with how Second Sister Xiao was treating her. "You agreed as well, didn't you? Then why are you complaining now? It is not like you didn't want to do this and I forced you to do it."
Second Sister Xiao glared at her elder sister, however, she was right that there was absolutely nothing that they could do now. She glanced at the window behind her head and worriedly thought about her future.
With such a thing happening, would she still be able to go back to the academy?
The chances of her return now seed really slim.
She pursed her lips in defeat but then she was reminded of sothing and Second Sister Xiao turned to look at her sister before asking, "The children! Where did she take the children, if we tell the yan where the children are, they might let us go!"
With a new hope surging in her heart, Second Sister Xiao turned to look at her sister who was looking anywhere but her.
"What is it..?" She asked, feeling her heartbeat accelerate. Why was this woman acting like that?
She narrowed her eyes and questioned, "You do know where the children are, right? You couldn't have possibly forgotten about asking where they would be taking the children, right?"
Second Sister Xiao swore if this woman dropped the ball at this crucial mont, then she would never forgive her.
Elder Sister Xiao licked her lips nervously before saying, "It is not that I forgot about asking the children, it is just that I was too drunk and don't rember what Sister Qiao said to last night."
"And yet you were conscious enough to tell what and where she would find Pili and Li?"
"The wine was brought later on."
"You—you idiot!" Second Sister Xiao was now regretting letting Elder Second Xiao go to the tavern alone. "Can't you see that she was guarding against you from the start!?"
She was worried about her reputation which would be tarnished if she was found in the company of people like Sister Qiao and her elder sister which was why she refrained from going.
Who would have expected that her elder sister would make such a mistake?
