"Senior, you must win."
The decrepit elder looked in a certain direction, murmuring to himself.
Having said that, he waved his large hand, grabbing the ox-headed and horse-faced spirits from the floating island, tucking them into his sleeve.
He then entered the River of Ti, heading towards the Underworld as fast as possible, fleeing the River of Ti.
There were many other minor spirits on this floating island.
He had no way of taking everyone with him; sacrifices were necessary. The distance to the Underworld was too far, and taking so many minor spirits would beco a burden, not only failing to save them but also putting himself in jeopardy.
At this mont, in all Heavens and Myriad Realms, certainly, everyone in the Underworld had received the ssage.
The Underworld was only so large, unable to accommodate everyone, so.... so minor spirits must be abandoned.
.....
After the decrepit elder left, those "minor spirits" on the floating island escaped from it.
These minor spirits manifested on the River of Ti as peculiar little animals, and they began to frantically flee along the River of Ti....
Though they didn’t understand why the Tenth Prince suddenly left, they sensed the Three-Life Tree broadcasting a danger warning signal, so... sothing dangerous must be approaching.
However.... with their abilities, without soone to receive them, they had no way to escape back to the Underworld.
Thus, they could only flee frantically, each seeking their fortune.
For these beings as insignificant as ants, when real danger cos, there’s nothing they can do but flee aimlessly.
...
At this mont.
Su Mu sat ditating under the Phoebe Tree.
Nannan went to sleep early this evening—Su Mu insisted on it; otherwise, Nannan would stay up again for cultivation. She hadn’t rested for a month.
The Little Fox, as usual, lay under the willow tree not far from Su Mu.
The Iron-Eating Beast was snoozing by the gate, occasionally snoring.
The Cyan Ox lay at the back courtyard gate, guarding it.
The five little ones patrolled the herb garden; since late-night herbal thieves were rare, they took turns patrolling at night while the others slept.
Looking at this quiet and harmonious scene, Su Mu smiled. Unlike his solitary self a few years ago, now he was surrounded by many companions, making his days far less monotonous.
Whoosh—
A gust of wind arose from god knows where, rustling the leaves, and catching Su Mu’s robe.
Swish, swish—
Suddenly, upstream of the river, the sound of rushing water thundered in Su Mu’s ears.
He frowned, sensing sothing amiss.
Standing up, he walked step by step to the riverbank, looking upstream.
Swish, swish—Swish, swish!
The water noise grew louder, more distinct, as if sothing was approaching.
"Is that...."
Su Mu focused, his Divine Sense exploded forth; seeing clearly, his pupils contracted sharply, freezing him in place.
A flood?!
Floodwaters five ters above the normal level were rushing swiftly toward Su Mu!
...
"Daddy, what’s wrong?"
Nannan, awakened by the loud water sound, sat up from her willow bed, rubbing her eyes sleepily.
The Little Fox was the first to rise, quickly running to Su Mu’s side, standing in front of him, watching the surging flood with a wary expression.
The Cyan Ox also awoke, standing with a worried look towards the river.
Tonight, the Little Brown Bear and the Little Monkey were patrolling the vegetable garden. Hearing the commotion, they too froze in place.
The Groundhog, the Little Owl, and the Little Squirrel woke up, ard, their expressions grave.
In the seven large iron cages beside the herb garden, all the "thieves" caught stealing herbs were awake, looking outside with panic-stricken faces.
Just a mont ago, the scene was peaceful and harmonious; now it was tense.
...
Seeing this scene, Su Mu waved his large hand, embracing Nannan.
Then, with his left hand, he grabbed the Little Fox standing in front of him and held it.
His gaze fell upon the basent he had crafted.
Opening the basent’s cover, he tossed Nannan and the Little Fox inside; the situation was urgent, he hadn’t ti to ponder.
"Old Ox, co over!"
Upon his words.
The Cyan Ox ca to Su Mu’s side. In an instant, the Cyan Ox understood what had happened.
He stood firm by Su Mu, wanting to contribute his strength, to help his master as much as possible.
"Look after Nannan well!"
Su Mu certainly understood the Cyan Ox’s intent, but the current situation was such that besides himself, no one else could help; they’d only beco a burden. So, he kicked the Cyan Ox into the basent.
Then, he instantly arrived in the backyard.
Seeing the five little ones standing neatly in front of him.
They had donned their strongest tree armor, wielded their best weapons, standing in a line, awaiting Su Mu’s command.
In their pupils, Su Mu saw a trace of worry and fear, but more so was determination; they wished to fight alongside their master, to resist this flood beast.
Su Mu waved his large hand and tucked the five little ones into his sleeve.
As he left, with his peripheral vision, Su Mu saw the eyes of the little animals in the iron cages beside the herb garden.
Those eyes were complex, showing despair, fear, bewildernt, confusion, resignation, and supplication.....
The flood was about to arrive; those little animals imprisoned in iron cages would be engulfed by the flood, with absolutely no chance of survival.
In this mont, for reasons unknown, perhaps because he felt he needed to handle those who stole from him himself, he waved his large hand and also tucked those large iron cages into his sleeve.
In an instant, he arrived at the basent entrance, tossing the five little ones and the seven large iron cages into the basent.
All these actions occurred in the blink of an eye.
After doing all this, the Iron-Eating Beast was still snoozing.
Su Mu kicked it awake from its slumber, then hoisted it, bringing it to the basent entrance.
"No matter the enemy, guard this well for . If anything unexpected happens, I won’t forgive you!"
Having said that, Su Mu threw the Iron-Eating Beast into the basent.
Finally, Su Mu ca to the herb garden, activating the array he had previously set up.
Once the array was activated, a stone fortress enveloped the entire garden, intended to defend the herb garden from being utterly destroyed by the flood.
After settling everything.
He stood alone on the river surface.
Looking at the flood surging towards him, his expression calm, his gaze unruffled, yet madness flickered in his tranquil eyes.
His reaction wasn’t just because the flood was coming.
But because.... a few seconds ago, a trendously powerful presence had co along with the flood, and.... its intent was hostile.
