Mission: Assist in Handling the Tailed Beast
Upon hearing this mission, everyone turned their sympathetic gazes toward Seii.
Even if they hadn't personally dealt with tailed beasts, they'd certainly heard enough to understand—what are tailed beasts? They're nothing less than embodints of calamity!
As elite ninjas, they didn't harbor the sa fear as ordinary people. However, they were acutely aware of the overwhelming disparity in combat power between themselves and a tailed beast.
To them, facing a tailed beast was undeniably dangerous.
But...
"Why Seii?"
At the sa ti, this question erged in their minds.
Seii's reputation wasn't unfamiliar. So had even witnessed his strength firsthand. Though impressive, it wasn't leagues above their own.
For soone of his level, going against a tailed beast seed sowhat lacking in logic.
However, Nara Kigari wouldn't have arranged for Seii to throw his life away without reason. There had to be a rationale behind his decision.
Thus, it was concluded that Seii must possess exceptional qualities.
"Could it be because he can fly?"
This explanation crossed the minds of several Konoha Jonin.
Indeed, the ability to fly would offer a significant advantage when dealing with tailed beasts. Not only would it provide a asure of safety, but it could also help draw the beast's attention—a useful support role.
"Yes, that must be it," the Jonin silently affird, believing they'd deduced Kigari's reasoning.
However, Uchiha Shisui had a different perspective.
He felt there was more to it.
Every ti he encountered Seii, Shisui couldn't shake a subtle feeling of oppression. Despite his own significant growth in strength, he still didn't feel confident in defeating Seii.
Seii always seed inscrutable to him.
This instinctively gave Shisui greater confidence in Seii.
Thus, he believed Nara Kigari's decision to assign Seii as support wasn't solely based on his ability to fly.
In truth, that was exactly the case.
After Seii reported his ambush encounter previously, Kigari had conducted a covert investigation. What he discovered confird that Seii's strength was far greater than it appeared.
While Kigari had suspected as much before—hence Seii's critical role in the Yotsugo Harbor operation—this new information revealed he had still underestimated Seii's potential.
This newfound understanding prompted him to assign Seii to assist Minato Namikaze, ensuring a double-layered safety net.
As a proponent of peace, Kigari was determined to bring an end to the ongoing war.
Thus, he was willing to go to great lengths to fulfill the mission entrusted to him by Hiruzen Sarutobi.
Others' thoughts were unknown to Seii—and he didn't care. Upon receiving the mission, he was more pleased than anything else.
The mont he learned the Six-Tails had appeared at the Red Tree Outpost, he resolved to make contact.
Not to capture it—though he wouldn't mind doing so if he could.
Unfortunately, he lacked the necessary ans.
With the Mangekyo Sharingan, he might control the Six-Tails for a short ti. But then what?
His current eyes weren't Eternal Mangekyo, so prolonged activation wasn't feasible. Even with Eternal Mangekyo, sustaining control over a tailed beast would drain him.
Ultimately, he'd need sealing techniques to handle it properly.
But aside from the Guardian Seal and Sealing Array, Seii knew no advanced sealing techniques. Capturing a tailed beast was out of the question for now.
So why insist on making contact?
Simple—to test whether his Level 6 Chakra Absorption Technique could work on a tailed beast.
His goal wasn't the beast's combat power but its near-limitless chakra supply.
Determining whether their chakra could be absorbed was crucial. Capturing one without this ability would be pointless.
Originally, Seii had planned to use Shadow Clone Jutsu and Transformation Jutsu to test the waters covertly.
Now, with Kigari's orders, he had a legitimate reason to approach the Six-Tails without arousing suspicion.
How could he not be pleased?
As for the danger?
Truthfully, Seii wasn't overly concerned.
The Uchiha clan's Sharingan naturally countered tailed beasts, and his incredible flight speed was enough to evade most threats.
Moreover, he had Heaven's Dominion as a trump card.
If even that wasn't enough, no one in the shinobi world could hope to face a tailed beast.
The eting concluded swiftly.
After bidding his teammates farewell, Seii activated Wind Release: Wings of the Wind and soared high into the air toward the Red Tree Outpost.
Within minutes, he arrived at his destination.
Below him was a sprawling red mangrove forest.
In the forest's center was a small fortress-like settlent, with two large gates on its east and west sides connecting to the main road.
This was the Red Tree Outpost—now reduced to ruins. Flas still smoldered within its charred remains.
Clearly, the Six-Tails hadn't left long ago.
Closing his eyes, Seii focused intently.
As expected, he sensed a faint oppressive aura lingering in the air—residual chakra from the tailed beast.
Without delay, Seii opened his eyes and followed the trail forward.
Soon, he heard faint explosions from the right—a telltale sound of explosive tags.
Years of battlefield experience allowed him to instantly recognize it.
Wasting no ti, Seii perford a hand seal, unsealing the Guardian Seal on his forehead, and activated his Byakugan.
In an instant, his field of vision expanded to encompass everything within a kiloter.
To his right, he saw a battle.
Nearly a hundred Konoha ninjas were desperately holding off an equal number of Mist ninjas.
Further ahead, he spotted another smaller skirmish, with fewer than 150 ninjas total on both sides.
This discrepancy puzzled Seii briefly, but observing the battlefield clarified things.
Unlike the Konoha forces, which included many lower-ranked ninjas, the Mist forces comprised almost entirely of highly skilled Chunin or Jonin.
Given this disparity, it was unsurprising the Konoha forces suffered greater losses.
After ensuring they could hold their ground for the mont, Seii resealed his Byakugan and flew back toward his team.
Establishing a connection using Mind Communication Jutsu, he relayed the situation to his teammates, urging them to prepare.
Having set things in motion, Seii turned his attention back to the battlefield, ready to engage and hold the line until reinforcents arrived.
As for the Six-Tails in the distance?
He glanced in its direction briefly.
What's the rush? His mission was support, not a direct assault. The imdiate battle demanded his attention first.
With that thought, Seii flapped his wings and accelerated toward the fray.
