The day of the Underworld Palace’s completion ca quickly.
Countless spirits flitted about, delivering Queen Hades’ decree throughout the entire Underworld.
Even the River of Fla, which never extinguished, temporarily cooled. Heavy treasure ships floated one after another down the River of the Dead.
Deities hidden all across the Underworld, including the rulers of the rivers and even the keeper of the Spring of mory, the Titaness Mnemosyne, all ca to attend the event.
This was the first official ruler of the Greek Underworld. Everyone was curious, what kind of changes would she bring to this barren and lifeless realm?
Though they didn’t know much about Hades herself, rumors had already made their rounds.
She abducted her own niece to make her a queen, angering the goddess of agriculture and plunging the earth into famine.
She didn’t get along with the powerful Night Deities, yet still erected a sky-piercing palace in the deepest depths of the Underworld.
These stories all pointed to one thing, this new Queen of the Underworld was not soone easy to get along with.
Even so, many still brought treasures and gifts to attend the banquet held in her honor.
Among the guests, so Night Deities showed up regardless.
Hypnos wore a sheer black dress, her legs wrapped in thigh-high stockings, one black and one white.
Though she still had the unripe feel of a young apple, there was already a hint of seductiveness about her.
Her little face was tense as she stood before the many gods, maintaining her poise and suppressing her natural temperant.
At her side stood a goddess with nearly the exact sa face, but a much colder expression.
"Thanatos, I told you not to bring that scythe. Everyone’s looking at us," Hypnos whispered.
The two were twin sisters and looked identical. Only their expressions and outfits made them distinguishable.
Thanatos was colder, dressed in a simple black robe, with a scythe on her back that was bigger than she was.
Because of their identities and Thanatos’ rather inappropriate attire, many of the other goddesses couldn’t help but steal glances at them.
"No need to worry. It’s all trivial," Thanatos replied, unfazed.
She was much sharper than Hypnos.
These stares were less about their outfits and more about who they were.
The Underworld had long been under the influence of the Night Gods. Now, with a new queen in place, everyone was waiting to see how the Night Deities would respond.
And due to Hypnos’ insistence, Thanatos had no choice but to attend this banquet too.
Before they ca, they even visited their mother, Nyx, the Primordial Goddess of Night.
Recalling what Nyx had instructed still left Thanatos feeling a little unsettled.
Elsewhere among the crowd, Styx, who always walked alone, noticed Hypnos and made her way over.
"Lady Hypnos, Lady Thanatos, you ca too."
Thanatos gave a small nod in greeting.
Hypnos, on the other hand, frowned at Styx’s carefree expression.
"You’re not even the slightest bit worried? Your lover was taken!"
"Watch your words. We’re just close friends. What do you an lover?" Styx corrected her flatly.
"And besides, he’s probably doing just fine. What do I have to worry about?"
Styx had no concern about Eros.
Anyone might die, but that guy? Never.
He had crawled out of Tartarus itself. Hades probably couldn’t even keep him locked up if she tried.
If he hadn’t escaped, that only ant he wasn’t in a hurry to leave yet.
Hypnos sighed at Styx’s calmness.
It made her feel like she was the only one taking this seriously.
"By the way, where are the scary one and the silent big sister? Didn’t they co?"
Styx was alone, with no sign of Deter or Hecate.
"They went back to Olympus to bring reinforcents. They should be arriving soon."
"Huh? But soone from Olympus already ca, didn’t they?" Hypnos pointed toward a figure mingling with the goddesses.
She held a caduceus staff and a hat with one hand as she moved breezily through the crowd, chatting and laughing with various deities.
Her aura was completely different from the gods of the Underworld, she stood out instantly.
Though Styx wasn’t familiar with her face, the outfit made her identity obvious.
She was Hers, daughter of Zeus and his ssenger.
She ferried mortal souls into the Underworld at night and was one of the few gods who could co and go freely in this realm.
Besides her, however, no other Olympians seed to be present.
Sensing their gaze, Hers turned and offered them a bright smile.
Styx returned the gesture politely and didn’t pay her any more mind.
Hers was likely here on formal invitation, as she played a role in the Underworld’s functioning.
Deter, however, was still nowhere in sight.
Countless innocent little spirits fluttered among the guests, offering all kinds of Underworld delicacies to the goddesses.
Although mortals who eat Underworld food can never return to the human world, gods were fine as long as the food wasn’t infused with divine rites.
As they chatted, they waited for the palace’s host to appear.
anwhile, Hades was in a side hall, receiving a very special guest.
The goddess of mory, Mnemosyne, one of the Twelve Titans, and both Zeus’s aunt and wife.
To Hades, she was undeniably a senior, one worthy of deep respect.
Not one of those old Titans who could be scolded at will.
"Aunt..."
Once again donning her black bridal veil and ornate accessories, Hades’s expression was hidden as she respectfully greeted Mnemosyne.
The mother of the Nine Muses wasn’t as radiant as her daughters.
She wore a simple linen robe, her hair unkempt, her eyes drifting in and out of focus.
"Aunt?" Hades called again when there was no response.
Only after the second or third call did Mnemosyne blink and return to herself.
"Oh, Hades. Sorry. I keep spacing out."
"It’s fine, Aunt. I’m already so happy you ca."
Hades suppressed her inner restlessness, presenting her gentler side.
"I live in the Underworld now. How could I not co?"
Mnemosyne had opened a mory spring in the Underworld, a version of the River Styx that enhanced mory but reduced its side effects.
She’d even moved down from Olympus. Hades had always wanted to ask why, and now was her chance.
"Aunt, why did you voluntarily co to live in the Underworld?"
"I have my reasons. Best not to ask." Mnemosyne waved it off and told her to focus on greeting the guests.
"You’re the queen now. Go et your future subjects."
"Alright... but Aunt, I have a request."
Hades hesitated, then asked, "May I have so of the Spring of mory’s water?"
As she left the side hall, she ran into Eros, who was waiting for her.
"What’s wrong with your face? You look weird," he said, peering under her veil.
"Nothing. Just had a quick chat with my aunt."
"You planning sothing again? What about little Persephone? Is she handled?"
Hades pulled him back before he could slip into the side hall.
"Of course I handled it. Persephone will behave, just a pretty vase for now. She won’t interfere with your plans."
Eros tried to shake her off, but she held firm.
"Do a favor. Just for today, don’t go flirting with every goddess in sight. And definitely don’t flirt with my aunt."
Even with her eyes closed, Hades could guess what he was thinking.
She’d invited so many goddesses here today, Eros was surely itching to make his move.
And based on observation, Eros seed especially interested in won with titles or who were officially not his.
Like how he got louder in bed the mont Persephone started calling herself Queen of the Underworld.
And now Mnemosyne checked both boxes. No way Hades was letting him near her.
"What?! You’re telling to hold back today, of all days?"
Eros stared at her like she’d lost her mind.
"Look at this face," he gestured at himself. "You think I can just hold back when I’m walking behind you and all those goddesses are staring?"
Hades didn’t need to imagine. She already knew the Underworld’s lonely goddesses would pounce the mont they saw Eros.
If he were officially hers, Hades wouldn’t even need to fight for allegiance, she could just hang a sign on him that said "Loyal to the Underworld Queen, Available for Servicing."
Before long, they’d all fall in line.
In a place as dreary and lonely as this, no goddess could resist a charming scoundrel like him.
"But she’s my aunt! Show a little respect?"
"Even if not for , do it for my little sister, she’s my little sister’s wife!"
Eros raised an eyebrow. He wanted to say, Zeus can have her, but I can’t?, but he held his tongue.
As the two argued, a voice ca from the side hall.
"It’s fine. Let him in. I’d like to et him too."
Zeus’s first seven won were considered wives, not lovers. Only after marrying Hera did things settle down.
