"Please, teacher. I don't want to die yet, you know?" Max said as sweat poured from his back. He didn't expect Doordod's reaction to be that… scary.

"To tell you the truth, I know nothing either. I was asked by teacher Prilly to bring this dog to her as punishnt for failing a class. But when I entered the teacher building…"

Max recounted what happened from before as Doordod kept pointing his wand toward his face. As he explained the story, Doordod slowly brought the wand down and nodded. The wand was fully stuffed away when he explained about the immortality potion.

"I see." The scary teacher nodded, "I know about her ambition of creating a young potion, but I have never thought she would step this low. I offer you 5 extra points for stopping her. You have this school's gratitude."

[Quest finished!]

[You have received 700 EXP for finishing the quest!]

"Return to your dorm and wait. I will take care of the dog and the aftermath."

"Yes, teacher!"

The cutscene started right after that. The scene was skipped and the words '7 Days later' floated in front of him as the screen turned black.

Following that, he got another notification.

[You have received 70 EXP for self-study.]

Max didn't know how that happened, but he was grateful. Extra EXP was always welco.

— Tiskip!

— It's not smooth at all. But I guess that's how it is in this ga

— They just go this and that, give EXP, ti skip, and such

When the black screen disappeared, Max found himself in a room alone. He sat on the bed and could move his body.

"Well, I survived Doordod, but now what?"

Just as he said that, a notification arrived.

[Quest updated!]

[Main quest: A student's job is to study. Head to Class.]

"..." Max was speechless at how simple the quest was. But this ti, he didn't imdiately head to the class. "The quest doesn't force to do anything, so that ans I have all the ti I need to explore, right?"

— Yes

— This is a semi-open world ga. So areas are limited, but you're free to do as you please as long as it's within the permitted area.

— No need to be shy. Go ahead and have fun

— I suggest you gather more EXP if you think of creating a new spell. It's a waste to spend 770 EXP, you will only get rank 1.

"I am not stupid, okay? I won't waste my EXP to create a rank 1 spell." Max said as he rose from his sitting position. "What I wanted to do is different. I an, this is a ga. And I can explore. What stopped from doing sothing like…"

Taking his wand from his robe, he pointed it at the vase at the corner of the room. He activated the Wind Blade spell and it flew toward the vase, destroying it.

Crash!

"This?" He continued from where he paused before sighing. "I guess you won't get an item or EXP by destroying a random item, huh? Disappointing."

— What did this guy think he's doing? Getting an item or EXP by destroying stuff?

— He has gone mad! I know that he's crazy to begin with, but he can't contain it any longer!

— Where did he get the idea of destroying sothing in the ga = an item or EXP?

Reading the chat, Max realized that this world's VR ga didn't employ what all famous RPGs in his past world had.

'Boring. I wanted to go inside a teacher's room and destroy their pot in front of them.' He thought, clicking his tongue.

'But I guess with advanced AI, sothing like that is impossible. I understand why they don't have that feature. But that ans I won't be able to use this thod to gain EXP before continuing the quest.'

Maybe there was a side quest where he could get EXP sowhere. Asking the viewers would be the fastest way to find out, but he didn't want to do that. He decided to leave the room and walked down the corridor.

His room was apparently on the first floor and the hallway right outside it was connected to the cafeteria and the exit.

When he stepped into the cafeteria, he got the answer for his earlier question.

"Ah, there is a side quest, huh?" He smiled as he looked at the worker behind a counter.

On top of his head, a purple smoke that looked like a question mark was floating.

— Of course there is a side quest. It's for the players who love to be overpowered before doing a main quest

— Side quest gives EXP and items, but it's random. You can get only 10 EXP if you're unlucky

— Are you going to take the side quest? You just started the main quest!

— No, it's useless. You better just play the main quest. Yes, it's better that way *nod nod*

"Hmm, what should I do?" Max stroked his chin in wonder, but his lips curled into a grin. "Your words have helped to decide. After reading all the chat and the fact that most recomnd not to take side quests, I decided that I will take it!"

Looking around, Max noticed that there were various people with the question mark on top of them. But the first one he approached was the worker behind the counter.

When he got close to him, he struck up a conversation.

"Good morning! Can I help you with sothing?"

It was a good one liner to get a quest. Based on what he read on the internet, the NPC would definitely give you a quest. The success rate was 8/10. This statistic was based on a famous RPG ga, Horizon Online.

And the two failures were when the NPC's favorability was too low or the quest needed a special item to activate.

Because almost all gas released after the famous RPG used the sa engine for NPC's realistic behavior, the question needed to trigger the quest was similar. That ant this question had a 100% chance to trigger a quest.

"Ah, young student. How do you know that I need help?" The worker replied with a soft smile, seemingly tired of everything.

"You look troubled, sir. That's why I asked whether you need my help or not." Max answered, showing a friendly smile. "If there is anything I could help, then I will happily do so. Please, just tell ."

"How kind! There aren't a lot of kind students like you nowadays. They only care about magic and magic, never in their mind they worry about normal workers like !" The worker exclaid excitedly.

"Regarding your question. Yes, I am a bit troubled. Can you help with sothing? I need to buy a new spatula, but I have no ti to do so because the cafeteria is full. So, can you help buy it in the store just beside the gym? I have the money here."

[Side quest generated!]

[Side Quest #1: Help the cafeteria worker to buy a new spatula!]

[Reward: 50 Gold, 50 EXP.]

[Accept side quest? Y/N]

Max looked at the new notification and grinned. He glanced at the people with question marks above their head for a second before turning back to the worker. Right now, their faces looked like both money and EXP for him.

With the biggest smile on his face, he pressed Y on the floating window. The quest was too easy that it was laughable.

"With pleasure!"

After that, he got the money and turned around.

"Wait guys, let do sothing real quick before continuing the main quest."

Experience tales at empire

— No, wait! Don't do that, Breeze!

— Nooo! The main quest will be too easy if you do this!

— For the sake of gaming, please head to the main quest now!

— You don't say…

"Hold, please. Wait until I finish my side quests."

Just as he said so, he approached another person with a question mark above their head.

"Fellow student, can I help you with anything?"

It was ti to grind the Side Quest.

'Let's ga it out.'

— NOOOOO

— This guy has found the cheat code

— lolol, he wanted to finish this ga the easy but long way

One of Max's favorite ga content creators in his past life, Josh, once said.

"It's not a bug or cheat, but a ga hidden feature."
