The sudden lightning wasn't the only problem that Max had to dodge. The static lightning still struck the sa place in the interval. He had to dodge them while also moving fast. That was easy; he could see the scorched ground to know where it would strike.

"Lily! To the left!"
"Un!"
Lily followed his instruction without hesitation and turned to the left. As she did that, lightning struck the place where she stood earlier.
"Right!"
This ti, Lily was the one who shouted at him. He imdiately moved to the right as electric current was created at the ground where he last stepped.
It happened many tis. They couldn't really think where to move and look at the ground. They could only move their body, dodge the lightning, and proceed to the center.
In just a few seconds, they managed to clear half of the course.

— The hardest part is to find where the next lightning struck. Looking at your feet will make you move slowly.
— My usual strategy is to move one step at a ti, dodging the lightning slowly. But these guys… They freaking run!

The lightning struck more frequently as they got closer to the slate. Just a few more ters and they could get it. However, they couldn't see any possible path besides bulldozing it through.

Lily also thought similarly. They were stepping left and right to dodge the targeting lightning right now, waiting for the right chance to snatch the slate.

The last wall of lightning struck in a circle. After one lightning struck one place, another one imdiately followed suit right on its side, circling the last place in a second interval.
Based on the timing, they only had a second or less to pass the wall of lightning.
An electric current gathered under Lily's feet. At the sa mont, the lightning wall struck the area right in front of her.
"Jump!" Max shouted loudly, and Lily followed his signal.
She leaped toward the slate while he jumped back to reduce the frequency of the lightning striking.

"Got it!"
Lily managed to snatch the slate and rolled on the ground in front of Max to stop herself. She stood next to him and showed the slate with a large smile.
"Good job." Max praised her and opened the backpack to put the slate in.
At this mont, the lightning had stopped striking. There was no more electric current under their feet.
And as they just prepared to move to the next destination, the notification rang.
[Thunder God is gritting his teeth as his slate is stolen. He leaves the area by stomping his foot.]
[His wrath is incoming.]
"What?!" Max raised his voice in surprise. He looked up and noticed sothing was about to co. "Lily, move!" He pushed her away slightly and jumped back.
"Huh?"
Lily was dumbfounded but realized the reason soon. The dark cloud in the sky converged at one point. It was concentrated right above Max. An electric current that disappeared returned and appeared right on Max's body.
Noticing that, she raised her voice to warn him.
"Throw your backpack!"
"Got it."
Without hesitation, he took it off and threw it away. He also ran in the opposite direction as soon as he did that.
A gurgling sound rang in the sky. A golden flash appeared in the sky, and what could be called the thunder god's wrath struck the ground. Everything turned golden, and a deafening sound echoed in the surroundings.
Lightning, many tis larger than before, struck the ground, turning almost a quarter of the clearing into a charred ss.
Max raised his body from the ground and looked at where the lightning struck. The backpack was strangely fine, sitting in the middle of the black ground like sothing unnatural.
"Crazy!"

If Lily hadn't warned him, he would have absolutely beco a charred human in that place. It seed like the last lightning struck the slate to kill anyone who didn't know about the chanic.
The dark cloud in the sky disappeared as Max picked his body up.
"Are you okay?" Lily asked worriedly, knowing that her boyfriend set the pain sensitivity to the maximum.
Throwing himself to the ground like that was painful… Really painful.
"Yeah, I am okay," Max answered, smiling at her. "More importantly, that was close. Thanks for the warning."
"Thank god…" She sighed in relief and looked at the backpack, approaching it.
She took it and looked inside. Max peeked from behind him and noticed everything was perfectly fine.
"So this backpack is an immortal object?" He asked in interest.
"Immortal object?" Lily asked back, handing the backpack to him. "What is that?"
"It's an object that can't be destroyed in a ga. A key quest item if you want to use an MMORPG term." He explained and put the backpack on. "In short, no matter what we do to this item. Throw it, slash it, burn it… It will remain intact, with the item inside it too."
"Ah, like a portable safe?"
"Sothing like that." Max nodded and took out a GPS.
The lightning mark in his location had disappeared, along with so other marks in the GPS. There were still too many to count, but the other pairs also seed to finish so trials.
"The lightning mark is an elephant slate. That's good to know." He said, turning to Lily. "Do you mind if I choose the next one?"
"Un, I'll let you choose."
"Thanks."
He looked at the remaining marks and decided to choose another one. He pointed at one and looked at Lily.
"How about this?"
"The sword mark? I don't mind."
"Alright then. It's pretty close, so let's go there."
— Both of them proceeded to the next destination without resting. Their survival knives were ready to cut all the branches and bushes in their way
