Volgron gathered infernal mana in his palms and thrust them forward.

[Hellfire]

A torrent of reddish-black flas erupted from his hands and surged toward the giant black wolf in the distance.

The infernal fire swept across the battlefield like a blazing tidal wave, burning everything in its path. Stone lted, earth blackened, and shattered debris was reduced to ash in an instant.

This spell was the hallmark of devils. Wherever the flas passed, nothing remained but scorched ruin.

And yet, when the flas of Hell neared the mysterious black wolf, sothing strange happened…

Blackie slowly opened his maw.

Deep within his mouth, beyond the rows of jagged fangs, swirling darkness churned like a bottomless abyss. Sothing ancient and monstrous stirred within that darkness, awakening from its slumber.

Then, in the next mont…

The [Hellfire] vanished!

The raging torrent of reddish-black flas was swallowed whole as though consud by an invisible void. The infernal fire disappeared into the depths of the wolf's maw without leaving behind even a single ember.

It had been completely devoured.

"Damned beast!" Volgron had a dark look on his face as he prepared for close-quarter combat with the wolf.

Since the beginning of the battle, Blackie had served as an even bigger threat than Berger. Despite receiving reinforcents from other Mana Core-level devils, Volgron still wasn't able to deal with his opponents.

No matter what spell the devil cast, the mysterious wolf would simply consu them all. As for the gno, the other devils were having a difficult ti trying to locate him. As it turned out… the gno was an expert at illusion magic.

And then there was sothing else that Volgron ca to realize about Blackie. It was a hunch, but he couldn't help but wonder if it was really the truth…

With every spell that the mysterious wolf devoured, it seed to grow stronger!

Its aura steadily rose while the darkness surrounding its body grew deeper and more oppressive. It was as though every piece of magic it consud beca nourishnt.

Then Blackie made his move.

His massive figure blurred across the battlefield and appeared before Volgron in an instant. A set of powerful claws tore through the air and raked toward the azirai.

Volgron reacted imdiately, erecting a [Mana Barrier] in front of himself.

But only a split-second later…

Crack!

The barrier shattered apart beneath the force of the strike. Blackie followed up with another vicious swipe of his claws. This ti, Volgron coated infernal mana around his bare hands and parried the attack.

The impact sent a shockwave rippling through the battlefield. Deep cuts instantly appeared across the devil's palms and forearms, and blood sprayed into the air. Even after protecting himself with mana and blocking the attack, he had still been injured.

Volgron hastily retreated as he weaved a complex set of hand seals. Blackie's eyes glead with savage bloodlust as he imdiately chased the azirai. A second later, the devil finished the magical components of his spell and finally cast it.

[Dark Arrowheads]

A dozen pointed projectiles wreathed in cold darkness materialized around him. The arrowheads humd ominously for a brief mont before shooting forward at trendous speed.

Blackie swiftly evaded several of them, his massive body moving with surprising agility.

But the rest struck him head-on…

Thud! Thud! Thud!

The dark projectiles slamd into his hide, but they failed to penetrate deeply. At most, they carved a few shallow wounds into his flesh before losing montum and dissipating into mana particles.

Compared to the wolf's enormous fra, the injuries were insignificant.

Blackie barely seed to notice them, and his speed wasn't hindered in the slightest. Once again, he arrived before the azirai leader and swiped his claws.

[Mana Barrier]

Volgron hastily erected a defensive spell, but it was useless in the face of the mighty wolf. With a powerful swipe of his claws, Blackie shattered the barrier once again. With another swipe, he viciously struck the azirai and hurled him into the distance.

Before giving chase, he briefly glanced toward another section of the battlefield.

And then, he resud his carnage.

anwhile, elsewhere on the battlefield, thick smoke blanketed the ground. Visibility was poor, and the air was heavy and suffocating.

Three azirai devils moved cautiously through the haze, their senses stretched to the limit as they searched for their illusive opponent.

As the three devils moved through the thick smoke, ominous silhouettes occasionally appeared within the haze.

So were tall and unnaturally thin. Others possessed grotesque, twisted shapes that seed impossible to belong to any living creature. A few moved through the fog with distorted proportions, their forms so unsettling that even the devils felt a chill run down their spines.

Strange sounds constantly echoed through the smoke. Sotis there were low growls and wet scraping noises, while at other tis distant whispers and the sound of sothing dragging itself across the ground echoed eerily.

And from every direction ca the faint rustle of movent. Sothing was always shifting within the fog. Sothing was always watching. The devils felt that there were countless eyeballs hanging in the air, always following their movents.

Yet whenever they turned toward the source of the sound, they found nothing there.

Only more smoke and shadows.

The battlefield had beco a hunting ground. When they had arrived here, they had proudly believed themselves to be the predators. But once they were trapped within the enemy's magic, they felt as though they were prey.

And that was the terrifying thing about the gno's magic. Even though the devils knew that it was fake, they still couldn't act upon it. Because every ti they did…

At last, one of the devils snapped. With a roar, he lunged at a grotesque figure lurking within the fog. It was a towering creature with dozens of arms protruding from its body.

"You're not fucking real!" Infernal mana surged from his weapon, and he unleashed a vicious strike.

But the attack passed straight through the creature.

The figure was never there to begin with…

An illusion.

As always.

The devil's eyes flashed with unease. And at that exact mont, he felt sothing brush against his back. Two palms. One was placed vertically, and the other horizontally. One above the other.

They rested there only for an instant.

Before the devil could even react. Before he could even turn around…

[Hand of Doom: Billowing Strike]

Blood, flesh, and shattered bone sprayed through the fog as half of the devil's upper body was torn to pieces. The attack was so sudden and so violent that the azirai could barely defend against it. The devil collapsed to the ground, blood rapidly pooling beneath him. He drew ragged breaths and reached out with a trembling hand, desperately calling for help. But no one ca.

And sowhere within the smoke…

Soone laughed.
