The lich's armor exploded into shards of black tal.

His ghostly ribcage and spine were finally exposed beneath the light. Faint runes shimred across the ivory bones, pulsing with eerie, necrotic energy.

It was a deeply unnatural sight. There was no flesh, no blood, no organs holding the body together, only a skeletal fra moving as though it were still alive.

The Dark King and the Heavenly Demon stood on opposite ends, while the Cult Leader was in the middle of them as he slowly rose to his feet.

"To think that I even considered turning into that," Adam said with blatant disgust on his face as his dark eyes locked onto the silent lich.

"So you did consider that option!" The Heavenly Demon's eyes lit up. "And I was planning on conducting a necromancy ritual here to summon you from the Underworld. This magic… so fascinating."

Adam couldn't help but nod in agreent.

After all, he and the Heavenly Demon were essentially the sa person inhabiting two different bodies. Their thought processes and instincts were almost similar, so it was no surprise that they often arrived at the sa conclusions.

When Adam split off a fragnt of his soul and paracitized Marden Benton, he had done so out of desperation and in great haste. It had been a spontaneous plan, leaving him with little ti to properly refine the process of Soul Puppetry.

Ideally, when a caster paraciitzed a target, they would carefully choose how much knowledge, mory, and information to pass onto the soul parasite.

But because the parasite within Marden had been created in the heat of the mont, it had inherited virtually everything Adam himself knew. As a result, the two possessed almost identical thought processes and instincts.

This gave them terrifying synergy in battle. They could predict each other's thoughts almost instantly and coordinate without even speaking, as though two bodies were moving under the control of the sa mind.

But it also ca with a major disadvantage…

Because the avatar knew nearly everything the main body did, it was also privy to Adam's secrets, plans, and weaknesses.

But those were problems to deal with another ti. Right now, the two of them had more imdiate matters to handle.

"You two…" The lich muttered darkly. "Just what are you?"

The hints were everywhere. From the conversation the two had just now to the fact that the Heavenly Demon could use the Dark King's spell, the lich observed it all. But never in his wildest imagination could he co to the conclusion that the Blood Lord, Marden Benton, was, in fact, an avatar of the Dark King.

"Enough talk," said the Dark King as his expression turned utterly solemn.

He then cast Mind Whisper on the Heavenly Demon and relayed the battle plan. He also briefly told him about the things he had discovered in the years since he set foot inside the Ignisra Kingdom.

When the Heavenly Demon learned of the truth — the truth about the Cult Leader's most closely guarded secret — his eyes slowly widened in disbelief. But he quickly gathered his senses, and then his eyes spewed nothing but hatred and fury. "Let's kill this bastard," he spat coldly.

Even before the last of his words escaped his lips, the Heavenly Demon had already shot toward the lich and begun engaging in a brutal close combat.

Seeing this, the Dark King could only sigh. He understood the Heavenly Demon's reaction. He truly understood it. After all, when he himself had learned the truth, he had completely broken down. At least, his avatar was channeling those raw emotions into rage and attacking the lich.

And so, while his avatar employed devastating mana combat techniques and fought like a Paladin, it was ti for Adam to fully utilize all the spells in his arsenal and fight like a traditional Magus.

He wove a few simple hand seals first, and his figure dissolved into the surroundings. [Invisible]

Following that, he weaved another spell that slowly spread over the land.

[Fog]

A dense fog rapidly spread across the battlefield, swallowing the surroundings beneath a thick, gray haze. Vision was instantly hindered as the mist rolled through the ruined land like a living tide.

Within monts, the entire crater had beco a sea of gray mist.

The Heavenly Demon reacted instantly and willed the runes inscribed on the Blades of Fulgrim to deactivate, extinguishing the flas around them. Then he burst into a flurry of steel, relentlessly hacking at the lich and forcing the latter to focus entirely on him.

The Cult Leader sneered as he constantly evaded or blocked the Heavenly Demon's attack with his ivory sword. He knew exactly what his opponents were trying to do. He wouldn't sit back and just let them.

With a deafening roar, mana burst outward from him like an overwhelming tide and pushed the Heavenly Demon several ters away. Then the lich took the opportunity to rapidly weave hand seals. He knew he was in a very disadvantageous situation and that he needed to act quickly.

But before he could complete the physical component of his spell, the Dark King had already made his move…

[Entwine]

A sea of thick roots and vines suddenly burst from the foggy ground.

They spread wildly across the center of the crater, twisting and writhing like living serpents as they tore through stone and debris. The sudden eruption threw the lich off balance while countless vines coiled around his legs and arms, attempting to bind him in place.

The Blades of Fulgrim shot through the space, attached to long chains that whipped across the air. The Cult Leader reacted instantly and activated the defensive artifact, erecting a mana barrier that blocked the incoming blades head-on.

Clang!

With a yank, the blades were pulled back, and they disappeared in the fog. anwhile, the lich's situation turned grim with every second that passed. The battlefield had been completely altered by the enemy, and he wasn't given any chance to even react.

And then… deep within the foggy battlefield, several blazing spheres erged through the mist. Their fiery glows illuminated the dense haze as they hovered ominously in the air like miniature suns. One by one, more of them appeared from different directions, surrounding the lich from all sides.

Then they descended.

[Adam's Fireball Barrage]

The battlefield erupted into a storm of flas as countless fireballs rained down upon the lich.
