Chapter 459: Chapter 399: Reinforcents

The door of the interrogation room was sealed with a simple ritual, but that was hardly anything to the well-traveled star cowboy.

"Before I ca in, I observed the terrain carefully. If we break a hole here, it’s straight out onto East Church Square. Right now all of the Ashen disciples and the injured are gathered in the west district, it’s just a sha about my revolver,"

Earth Wolf Twelve said.

For safety reasons, the Judge had confiscated all the weapons from his person.

The revolver had been with him for many years, ever since he was the captain of the Rangers.

Fortunately, the Ashen disciples weren’t well-versed in machinery. If he wanted, he could create a weapon capable of blasting a hole through the cathedral wall at any ti.

"The question is, where should we run after we get out?"

Fortress Number had been away from the Holy City for quite so ti now, and the place was filled with nurous devices they had never seen before. As long as they were on the Ashen Church’s turf, the Judges would always be able to find them.

The Third Prince pondered, "The Pope ntioned earlier that this war is going to end soon."

From the Pope’s tone, it seed like he had never taken the war that erupted between Universe Company and the Chamber of Comrce to heart, which can’t help but make one suspect that this is yet one of his strategies to eliminate his opponents.

If the war resulted in defeat, the biggest losers would undoubtedly be the Shan Clan People.

But upon closer consideration, the Third Prince soon realized that despite the Shanqi Comrce Association’s recent surge in influence, each family was falling apart.

Morgan VII’s Laurel had suffered a mishap, losing a trump card that could have turned the tides of the war.

If he could use the power of the "Cocoon" on the frontline, the battle would undoubtedly reverse instantly; and the Saintfield family was in even more disarray. The legitimate contender for the headship of the family, Jean Saintfield, had died in the Holy City, and the heirs were more concerned with who would beco the next Family Head than with the frontline battles.

As the Third Prince followed this line of thinking, he suddenly had a revelation, "The Pope intends to dismantle the Shan Clan’s influence in the na of war."

On the surface, the Shan Clan People believed they were in control of the situation, yet they had no idea that they had been calculated by the Pope.

"When I still worked for the company, I heard that the Shan Clan factions were nonconformist among the higher echelons; they seed to trust the Shanqi Comrce Association more than the company’s internal departnts,"

Earth Wolf Twelve said.

It was no secret that there were tensions between different Consortiums within the company, and the Mandala Consortium, adept in business and controlling the company’s economic lifeline, was naturally a thorn in people’s sides. "The Saintfield family’s direct line has faced the most assassination attempts, for which they even paid a substantial sum of money to the Long Branch Committee, in exchange for close protection services."

If the Pope’s plan could be carried out smoothly, then the Ashen Church would be the biggest winner.

The company would welco a new era dominated by the Ashen Church, without the financial tycoons of the Shan Clan.

As the Third Prince continued down this train of thought, he suddenly beca aware of another terrifying possibility.

"All the high-ranking mbers of the various Consortiums of Universe Company are here now."

Due to a skirmish with the Chamber of Comrce, for safety reasons, the company’s executives have not left the city on their individual flagships.

It was under the na of the Sun King that the Pope had summoned everyone. Among the various factions, these people held even higher status than the deceased Jean Saintfield.

If the Pope also made pacts with these people, it would be as if he had single-handedly taken control of the entire Universe Company.

As to whether this was the will of the Sun King or the ambition of the Pope himself, it goes without saying.

"Shh, there’s a noise outside."

Upon hearing footsteps in the corridor, Earth Wolf Twelve retreated to the doorway, lying in ambush at the blind spot behind the door, preparing for a surprise attack.

If given the choice, he wouldn’t want to blast a hole in the wall of the church.

The noise would imdiately alert the Judges and the Staff-wielding Squad, complicating their subsequent escape plan. A better way would be to knock out a guard and slip out of the church unnoticed without setting off any alarms.

While the Judge was busy extinguishing the flas on the Pope’s body, it would be the perfect ti to break out.

The footsteps, unsurprisingly, stopped in front of the interrogation room door, and soon there was a rustling noise at the handle.

A woman’s voice ca along with it.

"Mr. Earth Wolf Twelve, if you plan on making a lump appear on my head, I will most certainly use a love curse on you and the sow."

The voice sounded familiar and directly called out his na.

More importantly, a love curse was a code word.

On the way to the Holy City aboard Fortress Number, Jiuyue had ntioned the interesting events that occurred on the Eco-Ship, where the mirror image that had been with her since childhood was a survivor from Wizard Star, and had personally taught her how to cast spells on the Eco-Ship.

The first spell Jiuyue learned was, indeed, the love curse.

When Earth Wolf Twelve suggested that Jiuyue cast the spell on him and the popular interstellar star, Maria, he faced a rciless rejection, and received an elbow to the chest for his trouble.

"Miss Dawn?"

Through the door, Earth Wolf Twelve tentatively asked.

"It’s ."

After they confird the code word with each other, the door to the interrogation room was pushed open from the outside.

The head of a beautiful witch floated into the room in a bizarre manner.

"Damn, there’s a ghost!"

Earth Wolf Twelve’s body shook, and the operating system installed in his brain crashed for a full three seconds.

Only a few people who knew him were aware that the seemingly fearless interstellar cowboy had his weaknesses—he had always been susceptible to ghosts and spirits.

Once, when Mocking Pigeon took advantage of him being drunk to scare him by dressing up as a ghost, he, in a fit of terror, accidentally ignited a battleship.

"Keep it down!"

Dawn glared at him fiercely, then removed the cloak wrapped around her body, revealing her form. "This is a cloak of invisibility, Wizard Star technology."

Having said that, she handed two similar cloaks over to them.

Earth Wolf Twelve, like a country bumpkin, draped the cloak over his arm, gesticulating as his chanical arm appeared and disappeared, emitting a strange and low chuckle.

The Third Prince could not bear to watch, as Earth Wolf Twelve was a mber of Fortress Number, and this kind of behavior was unbefitting of their image, so he started to ask Dawn, shifting her attention, "Weren’t you leading the survivors of the Witch Council to escape?"

"They have settled down now. My intuition told

that maybe you needed help here."

Dawn lowered her voice, "This is not the place to talk. Put on the cloaks and follow ."

The Third Prince and Earth Wolf Twelve hurriedly did as instructed.

They had considered many ways to escape from the Holy City Cathedral, but they had never thought they would end up walking out the front of the cathedral in front of the Staff-wielding Squad.

But now the Staff-wielding Squad didn’t have the spare energy to pay attention to their movents, the cathedral hall was crowded with people.

They were dressed in extravagant clothes and had stern expressions; many of them looked as if they were losing patience.

Not long before, the Pope had summoned all high-ranking officials but had left them hanging around here for nearly an hour.

Just as they could bear it no longer, a Judge approached them.

"Sorry to keep you all waiting, the Pope is now ready to et with you," he apologized to the high-ranking officials, "Please follow ."
