Chapter 949: Loophole
[Young Ma, I’ve put the pork trotter in the refrigerator. I wrote your na on it.] Lu Wenbin slowly composed a ssage on WeChat.
Lu Wenbin had put in great effort to obtain Nurse Young Ma’s WeChat ID. If a person were to quantify it, the effort he put in was equivalent to giving every single experienced nurse in the departnt sixteen to eighteen pork trotters.
Of course, Lu Wenbin’s career was progressing well, so he did not care about this. If it were not for the fact that he was worried that his reputation would be destroyed, he would not even mind giving everyone in the departnt free pork trotters. It would not cost much to him anyway.
The only worry Lu Wenbin had now was regarding his love life.
He could not just spend all his energy in the gym every day. Of course, it was aesthetically pleasing to have a rock-hard chest and a firm a**. But there was no one around to look at his body, anyway, and he felt that all his effort to bulk up was for naught. The stinky n in the weightlifting area of the gym did not count.
*Beep*
A notification rang out from Lu Wenbin’s phone. He picked up his phone and saw a WeChat ssage from Young Ma.
[Did you keep the pork trotter in a lunch box? What does it look like? I don’t see any lunch box with my na on it.]
Lu Wenbin chuckled softly and loosened his grip on the stress ball he was holding. He started typing with great effort. [I wrote your na on the pork trotter itself. The label isn’t on the lunch box. Try to look for it. There should be a box of pork trotter in the refrigerator.]
For a while, Young Ma did not reply to his ssage.
Lu Wenbin chuckled. He was pleased with himself. ‘Are you astonished? Are you touched by my gesture? Are you euphoric now?’
Even though it was a little difficult to engrave two Chinese characters on a pork trotter, Lu Wenbin found a way to do it.
Lu Wenbin was forced to suppress his laughter. He wished that there was a scale where he could see how much Young Ma liked him. She had to like him a lot more now that he had engraved her na on a pork trotter.
“Doctor Lu, a patient with cardiac trauma is sent in.” Wang Jia, the nurse quickly walked over and reminded Lu Wenbin.
Lu Wenbin had been Ling Ran’s assistant for quite so ti, and he could be said to be an all-rounder. He was capable of assisting in any type of surgery. Now that they were planning to start performing cardiovascular surgeries since Ling Ran did not have any assistants who were familiar with such surgeries, he naturally enlisted Lu Wenbin’s help.
Similarly, Wang Jia was often chosen to participate in surgeries whenever the treatnt group first launched a surgical thod.
Lu Wenbin imdiately humd in acknowledgnt and asked, “Is it a perforation wound like the patient the other day?”
“It should be,” Wang Jia said and added, “There should be people watching the surgery today. Do take note.”
“Which level are those leaders from?” Lu Wenbin did not look like he was too concerned.
Ever since a visitation room was added to Operating Theater 1, plenty of doctors and leaders ca to watch Ling Ran’s surgeries, and the doctors of the Ling Treatnt Group were pretty much used to it.
Moreover, unlike ordinary surgeons, Ling Ran did not like to chit-chat and tell jokes during surgeries. It could be said that even on ordinary days, mbers of the Ling Treatnt Group talked a lot less compared to mbers of other groups during surgeries. Because they did not have to worry about saying the wrong thing, they did not have to make extra effort to be presentable whenever other doctors or hospital leaders were invigilating or visiting.
Wang Jia was rely giving Lu Wenbin a friendly reminder. She replied, “Departnt Director Huo should be coming, and Associate Hospital Director Zhou might be here too. I don’t know about other leaders. Now that the foreigner is gone, Doctor Ling would have to carry out the cardiovascular surgery without supervision. So, the hospitals’ leaders would probably want to take a look at what’s going on.”
“Oh. It’ll be fine, then… What’s there to worry about when Doctor Ling is the chief surgeon? Wasn’t Doctor Ling the one doing all the work even when the foreigner was around?” Lu Wenbin paused for a mont and continued, “Wang Jia, erm… do you think that I should apply Pavlovian conditioning?”
The doctors and nurses of the treatnt group had to see one another seven or eight hours a day. It was like they were in the sa jail cell. They talked so much that they ran out of topics of conversation.
Hence, whenever a doctor in the treatnt group had sothing interesting going on in his life, he would not be able to resist the urge to talk about it.
Everyone in the circle knew about how Lu Wenbin had been courting girls via Pavlov’s Dating thod.
Wang Jia had never been one to comnt on Lu Wenbin’s thod. However, she asked in astonishnt, “You have not started using it yet?”
“Not yet. It’s only been a few days. I an, back in the days when Pavlov fed the dogs, he had to feed them for more than ten days, like around a month, right?” Lu Wenbin answered. It sounded like the most natural thing in the world to him.
Wang Jia appeared shocked. “What? You plan to feed her that long? Who the hell can stomach pork trotters for one week straight? Wouldn’t she get bored of it?”
“What you have just said makes sense… This seems to be a real loophole in my plan.” Lu Wenbin nodded slowly. He looked like a CEO of a big company who was making business plans.
Wang Jia said in exasperation, “It’s not just a loophole. Your entire plan is a black hole in itself, don’t you think so?”
“It’s not that bad. Ah, let’s end this conversation. The patient’s almost here. I’ll go and take a look.” Suddenly, Lu Wenbin felt that he had a low IQ.
He fled to the ground floor and quietly sat on the chair to wait for the ambulance to send the patient with cardiac trauma over.
It was normal for there to be a couple of dozens of patients with cardiac trauma every year in a city like Yun Hua City. Most patients who were able to survive the trip to the hospital were probably able to survive the surgery.
Cardiac trauma surgery used to be considered a difficult surgery. However, nowadays, it was a surgical thod that rookies in the field of cardiovascular surgeries used to put in so practice.
“Young Lu, are you here to wait for the patient?” Departnt Director Kang walked over hesitantly to Lu Wenbin.
“Departnt Director Kang? Why are you here?” Lu Wenbin answered his question with another question.
As a mber of the Ergency dical Center, Lu Wenbin was as vigilant toward Departnt Director Kang as Christopher Columbus was toward native Aricans.
“I’m just here to take a look at what’s going on since I’m free anyway. You guys are receiving a patient with cardiac trauma?” Departnt Director Kang tried to look into the situation with a smile on his face.
Lu Wenbin hesitated for a mont and answered, “It should be. I’m not quite sure.”
“You can just tell the truth. I can’t just snatch the patient away from you guys, can I?” Departnt Director Kang laughed out loud.
“Do you intend to do so?” Lu Wenbin asked in a soft voice.
Departnt Director Kang imdiately beca so infuriated that he was unable to speak. If it were not for the fact that he would not win in a fight against the Ergency dical Center, he would have snatched the patient away right then in front of Lu Wenbin. ‘How dare he harbor doubts toward !?’
“The patient’s here,” a nurse reminded Lu Wenbin. The siren of the ambulance could then be heard.
Departnt Director Kang looked at Lu Wenbin and his entourage with an envious expression on his face. He said nothing.
The Cardiovascular Surgery Departnt of Yun Hua Hospital did not use to get many patients with cardiac trauma in the past. Since the Ergency Departnt was not capable of performing cardiac trauma repair, they did not have much desire to take in patients with cardiac trauma.
It had been quite a while since Departnt Director Kang waited for an ambulance at the Ergency Departnt.
“Make way, make way.” After receiving the patient, Lu Wenbin dashed toward the operating theater.
It was a race against ti.
Departnt Director Kang hesitated for a mont before following him to the operating theater. Once he arrived at the doorway, he realized that the visitation room was already half full.
“Hey, look, Old Kang’s here. Hurry up and get over here.” Huo Congjun was abnormally enthusiastic when he saw Departnt Director Kang. He said, “Look, Associate Hospital Director Zhou, Departnt Director Kang does care about the growth of young doctors. Oh, by the way, Old Kang, there are so people I want to introduce to you. You know all the doctors here already, right? This is Mister Wang Chuanwen, and this is Mister Wang Chuanming…”
Huo Congjun had an arm over Departnt Director Kang’s shoulder. The latter wanted to shrug off Hou Congjun, but he was too embarrassed to do so. He looked like a rat who was being held hostage by a cat.
He knew why Huo Congjun was so enthusiastic toward him right then. The latter was definitely thinking of counting on him to save the day in case sothing went wrong, and Departnt Director Kang felt annoyed every ti he thought about this.
