Zhu Ganglie, the secular na Zhu Bajie used when he was first exiled to the Mortal World, and by calling himself Zhu Ganglie at this mont, the aning was clear. Upon hearing Zhu Bajie's voice, the woman visibly shuddered, her shoulders trembling. Seeing this scene, Zhu Bajie's heart instantly ached. Was Cuilan crying? Was it hearing my na that made her cry? My Cuilan, my dearest Cuilan.
Thinking this, Zhu Bajie's tears already started flowing uncontrollably. Ever since he beca the Jade Emperor and managed the affairs of the Heavenly Palace, Zhu Bajie had always appeared as Tianpeng Marshal and no longer as the pig-headed demon. But now, overwheld with emotion, his pig's head suddenly reverted back. He charged forward in a few steps and wrapped his arms tightly around the woman from behind. His pig nose continuously sniffed at the woman's neck and throat.
"Cuilan, Cuilan, I've missed you so much, my Cuilan!" The woman embraced by Zhu Bajie trembled even more intensely, her shoulders heaving as if her body was slightly shivering. Zhu Bajie's heart sank even further. "Cuilan, where have you been all these years? I've searched for you with such difficulty!" Overwheld with emotion, Zhu Bajie was now a ss of snot and tears. The woman he held in his embrace took a deep breath, as if forcibly suppressing her cries, and said with a trembling voice, "Idiot, Bajie, you have Chang'er, why would you still think of ? You surely deceived !"
The woman's voice was soft, like a whispering murmur. Hearing Cuilan say such things, Zhu Bajie, out of urgency, tightened his embrace and hurriedly explained, "Chang'er's love was never for ; it was always only for Hou Yi from the beginning to the end. I was only exiled to the Mortal World because I broke the seal of the Twelve Ancestral Witches for her and got found out. My relationship with Chang'er has always been pure. If you do not believe , go ask my ministers. After I defeated Chang'er, I only let her stay in The Moon Palace; I have never visited her!"
After Zhu Bajie's explanation, the woman in his arms seed to believe him, and then her voice, crying, said, "Bajie, I am so cold, hold tight, hug with all your might!" Zhu Bajie had no thoughts for anything else and promptly wrapped his arms around her again. However, the woman kept asking Bajie to hug her tighter, and though Zhu Bajie felt he was already embracing with considerable force, he did not think much of it due to his emotions and added a bit more strength to his arms. And then, Zhu Bajie was dumbfounded.
Because with this increased force, he broke Cuilan's waist with a snap. Zhu Bajie saw the woman in his arms, her upper body limp, dangling down. Stunned, he held the woman, whose waist was broken, for more than a quarter of an hour before slowly starting to comprehend. He had killed Gao Cuilan; he had personally caused Cuilan's death. Suddenly, a great wave of grief surged through Zhu Bajie's heart. Just then, the woman who had clearly had her waist broken, spoke again.
"Bajie, you are so heartless to want to kill . Aren't you afraid my father will seek revenge for ?" At that mont, Zhu Bajie's mind was in total chaos, and he replied subconsciously, "Revenge? Who would he ask for revenge?" The woman's voice ca again, "Of course, he'd find so powerful figure, soone even more formidable than you!" Zhu Bajie, still in a daze, replied, "More formidable than ? Who could be more formidable than ?"
Just then, the woman's voice suddenly changed, turning into a man's voice—a voice very familiar to Zhu Bajie: "My father has found the Great Sage Equalling Heaven who caused a great uproar in Heaven five hundred years ago, Sun Wukong!" With those words, the woman's drooping upper body suddenly turned around, and Zhu Bajie, who had been staring in shock, suddenly saw a monkey's face with a beard like the God of Thunder lift to et his eyes. Zhu Bajie jumped in fright, instantly letting go, and then with a kick, sent the figure flying far away.
By this ti, Zhu Bajie had co to his senses. Cuilan was long dead, and after so many centuries, how could she possibly appear? "What kind of demon are you, not only impersonating Cuilan to deceive but also turning into my great, great..." As he spoke, Zhu Bajie seed to suddenly realize sothing, his voice abruptly rising, shaking the placard above the doors of Lingxiao Palace crookedly, "Brother Monkey? Brother Monkey, is it really you?" Zhu Bajie's face was filled with disbelief, standing there, at a loss for a while about what to do.
Zhu Bajie was overjoyed when he suddenly caught sight of Cuilan, but his delight quickly turned to fury as he realized that this Cuilan was soone else in disguise. However, before his anger could erupt, he noticed that the impersonator might very well be his eldest martial brother, Sun Wukong. The roller coaster of emotions left Zhu Bajie at a loss for how to react. At that mont, the figure that Zhu Bajie had kicked away slowly got to its feet in the distance, twisting its waist and said, "You idiot, you really went through with the hit. If it weren't for your Brother Monkey's tough body, that kick would have killed . Heh heh, silly brother, Old Sun has co back!"
As soon as Sun Wukong finished speaking, Zhu Bajie bolted towards him, and Sun Wukong did not dodge; instead, he opened his arms with a smile. Then Zhu Bajie crashed into Sun Wukong with force, and the two martial brothers embraced each other. Afterward, Zhu Bajie burst into loud tears, shaking the very ground with his sobs. Although Sun Wukong was not as exaggerated as Zhu Bajie, his eyes were also brimming with tears. After countless life-and-death experiences, he had finally returned to this place, finally t his second martial brother again. They wept for a while until their emotions had slightly cald down.
"Enough, you blockhead, let go. You're now the Jade Emperor, don't embarrass our master. What kind of spectacle are you making?" As soon as Zhu Bajie heard this, he imdiately let go, and his expression changed in an instant to one of supre dignity. He turned to the crowd peeking out from the palace doorway and snapped, "What are you staring at, can't I cry? Still looking?" When Zhu Bajie said this, those ministers and generals retracted their necks in fear, but then Zhu Bajie continued, "Wait. Today, my eldest martial brother has returned. I decree a Welco the Saint Feast to be held at the Jade Pool; I want to drink heartily with my eldest martial brother for three days!" No one dared to disobey, and they all bowed in agreent before retreating to prepare for the feast. anwhile, Sun Wukong noticed the Eight Immortals among the crowd and asked curiously, "Those are the Eight Immortals? Weren't they turned into puppets by Chang'er? How co?" Zhu Bajie nonchalantly replied, "I've refined them back again. Heh heh, Brother Monkey, I thought you were dead, man. Where the hell have you been all this ti? I searched the whole world and couldn't find any trace of you."
Sun Wukong smiled mysteriously, "I did die, but now I'm alive again. Anyway, forget about that, you blockhead, I need your help with sothing!" Zhu Bajie, who was originally dragging Sun Wukong towards Lingxiao Palace, promptly asked, "What is it? I'm not boasting, but in this world, whether it's gods, Buddhas, or demons, my cultivation is the highest." Sun Wukong nodded, clearly impressed, "Peak of Unity Dao, huh, you've really given a surprise. But don't be so smug, the favor I ask isn't an easy one."
Zhu Bajie eagerly inquired what the favor was, sounding so mysterious.
Sun Wukong revealed, "I encountered a demon in a certain place, about as strong as you, but it's underwater. You know I'm not good with water. I had no way to deal with it, but seeing that you're so powerful, naturally I have to ask you for help!" Zhu Bajie thought it was sothing serious, but it turned out just to be a trivial water demon. He slapped his chest and assured, "Don't worry, Brother Monkey. I'm not the sa Zhu Bajie from the journey to the Western Paradise. Let's go now, after we beat it, we can drink!"
Zhu Bajie had reached the peak of Unity Dao in his cultivation, whereas Sun Wukong, to return to the Pangu Realm, had suppressed his strength to that of a Saint of the Great Dao. Therefore, Sun Wukong could not defeat the demon, but Zhu Bajie certainly could. With a pat from Sun Wukong, the two instantly vanished from the spot. When they reappeared, they found themselves by the side of a majestic river. The river roared with muddy currents—you could see the sand churning in the water even from the shore.
"In there? Why does this river look so familiar?"
"Does it remind you of the Flowing Sands River from Brother Sand's old days?" (To be continued.
