In their hearts, the Underworld Venerate was certain to be resurrected, and the mont of his resurrection would be when they would leave this place, so naturally, a great battle was inevitable, for the Venerate's armor and weapons were a must. Later, they discovered that the armor and weaponry on themselves could no longer withstand the erosion of ti and had beco tattered, so while forging new armor and weapons for the Underworld Venerate, they forged a new set of weapons for themselves as well.
Previously, Dao Zhun judged based on the fire attribute Spirit Stones on the cave walls that the Underworld God Army had been active in this world for a hundred thousand years, but in reality, it had been five hundred thousand years. The reason why the Spirit Stones on the cave walls only had a hundred thousand years' worth of energy was that every hundred thousand years the Underworld God Army would harvest all the Spirit Stones from the cave walls. These Spirit Stones, filled with fire attribute Spiritual Power, allowed them to save a great deal of ti in absorbing spiritual power, thus they could spend more ti on resurrecting the Underworld Venerate.
Although the Underworld God Army had been active here for five hundred thousand years, just constructing this cave had taken seventy to eighty thousand years. Moreover, they needed to draw up the Earth's Core fla from the Patrolling Celestial World to serve as the fire for slting ores. Therefore, by the ti this cave was ready for use, two hundred thousand years had already passed since its discovery. Half of that ti was spent constructing another cave.
The other cave was similar to this one, but its slting factory was larger. It did not contain the body of the Pioneer, but instead the Pioneer's weapons, the armor and weapons used by the Underworld God Army, and so other items essential for leaving the Patrolling Celestial World. The most conspicuous of these was the Thunder Fire Scorching Fla Cannon. Since they had to contend against the Law Enforcers, it wouldn't be possible with just these underlings, so they needed weapons capable of injuring the enforcers, and the Thunder Fire Scorching Fla Cannon was the best choice.
However, when they had reshaped the Venerate's body to a height of ten thousand ters, they encountered a very serious problem: there were far too few fragnts of the Underworld Venerate's soul – so few that they couldn't imbue the body with normal life force, let alone resurrect it. Then, the Underworld God Army, fervently devoted to the Underworld Venerate, committed an act of madness.
All mbers of the Underworld God Army below the rank of squad leader separated half of their own souls. These were then purified by the two Legion Commanders, Qian Yuye and Xing Dian, and injected as Soul Power into the collected soul fragnts of the Underworld Venerate. This thod was insane, but it must be said, quite successful. The Soul Power of tens of thousands of people, though still not enough after purification, could now animate the Venerate's soul within the body, granting it life force.
The price was that after the infusion, the entire Underworld God Army beca puppets with souls and life, only able to follow the orders of squad leaders whose souls were left with an imprint. It can be said that now, the Underworld God Army, which numbered in the tens of thousands, had only a few dozen individuals with complete souls.
Besides, the mbers of the Underworld God Army had discovered another way to augnt the Underworld Venerate's soul – by using a thread of the original soul of the Underworld Venerate as a lure, they collected the wandering Soul Power of the Patrolling Celestial World through their special altars. Even though this thod consud a lot of ti, it was safe, and the Venerate's soul that absorbed the wandering Soul Power beca closer to the normal state of the Underworld Venerate's soul. In this way, they built a hundred more strongholds, each with a new altar.
Another thod they had was to slaughter the Primordial World's Ferocious Beasts en masse and use their souls to replenish the Underworld Venerate. However, they feared drawing the attention of the Law Enforcers, and another reason was that they couldn't purify the violent intentions within the beasts' souls. If they used such impure souls, they were not certain it wouldn't affect the true soul of the Underworld Venerate.
So they carried on, barely surviving while acting in secret, until now. The souls in their hundred altars were nearly able to take shape on their own, and Sun Wukong, the Dragon Emperor, and his companions, through either extrely good or bad luck, happened to encounter five squad leaders of the Underworld God Army going to the stronghold to collect the souls from the altar.
This was also the reason why there were only a few dozen squad leaders in the Underworld God Army, yet Sun Wukong managed to et five at once. Of course, Xing Dian was part of that group as a precaution against unforeseen circumstances. Little did they know that before the soul collection ritual was completed, Sun Wukong and his companions, strong beyond belief, would co knocking on their door, with the squad leaders standing no chance at all. In the end, Xing Dian survived by luck, and managed to bargain for his life by exchanging so secrets he knew with Sun Wukong.
However, the fragnts of the Underworld Venerate's soul that were within the altar chose to flee when they sensed the fatal threat brought by the Dragon Emperor. Before the soul got far, it was absorbed back by the Underworld Venerate within the cave. The few squad leaders inside the cave, sensing the return of a soul body, remained unaware that Xing Dian and the others had t their doom, thinking that all was well.
In this stronghold of the Underworld God Army, there are now only about a dozen squad leaders with complete souls, including the forr Chief Combat Commander of the Underworld God Army's First Legion, who was on the sa level as Ming Tiekuang. Though Dao Zhun didn't know exactly how many mbers of the Underworld God Army were deep within the cave, he had a sense that the strongest among them were at the Supre Peak level of the Nine Patterns Supre. By all accounts, they were higher in cultivation level than himself, but Dao Zhun was certain that in a real battle, he could defeat them.
With this thought in mind, Dao Zhun did not act rashly but instead quietly set up a Spatial Barrier around himself and then opened up his Mystic Space within the barrier. Next, two figures appeared out of nowhere, and as they did so, Dao Zhun gestured for them to be silent.
