Chapter One Hundred and Seventy-Eight: An Unexpected Encounter with the Phoenix Fruit, Wukong Nearly Becos Possessed.
After that interlude, the group continued on their way. I had thought that revealing my strength would quell their curiosity a bit, but the recent explosions only heightened Sun Wukong and Xi Zhao’s interest. They kept asking why it would explode; whether it would explode without hitting soone, and whether it would explode upon impact in normal circumstances.
Eventually, Fla God beca extrely irritated and roared that if anyone asked again, he would self-detonate. Indeed, this threat proved effective, and Sun Wukong and Xi Zhao stopped their inquiries. But before Fla God could breathe a sigh of relief, Caoi suddenly turned around and said, "Can your saber explode in the dark? If it can, would you set off fireworks for tonight?"
Hearing about fireworks, the little fox imdiately bead with joy and began to twitch with excitent as Caoi giggled and swayed on her back. Fla God, in contrast, covered his face in gloom.
Thus, the five of them journeyed on for two more days and were now about halfway through their journey. As they were nearing the central part of the island, they encountered more and more people, but everyone was in a hurry to get to their destination and showed no interest in provoking them. The reason they stopped that day was that they had co upon a valley.
It was not a particularly large valley, and like the outside, it was extrely barren and devoid of any greenery.
Yet, in this ordinary valley, there were now gathered around three hundred people. These people had almost filled the valley inside and out, but at the central spot, there was an open space about three ters in diater left clear.
On this patch of ground, there was a small tree about half a ter high, bathed in blood-red color, gently swaying. On the tree hung three bright red fruits, looking as if they were ready to take flight, continually emitting a rich fragrance and heat.
When Sun Wukong and the others were passing by this valley, Fla God, who had been walking in the middle of the group, suddenly stopped and headed straight for the valley.
Driven by curiosity, Sun Wukong and the others followed him into the valley. However, with the crowd packed like sardines, they could only stand on the outskirts. But Sun Wukong and Xi Zhao, having excellent vision after several jumps, caught sight of the plant in the center of the crowd.
"Xi Zhao, do you recognize what that is? Why are so many people watching it but none are trying to snatch it away?"
Before Xi Zhao could reply, an ecstatic voice from soone who had arrived earlier said, "That’s the Vermilion Bird’s Fire Phoenix Fruit, not yet ripe. It’s useless to pick it now. You have to wait for the fruit to fall naturally and take flight before seizing it. There are three fruits; we can grab them and take one each."
Upon hearing this, Xi Zhao also nodded. Although he did not recognize the fruit, the dense spiritual energy it emitted made it clear that it was definitely a supre rank Heaven and Earth Treasure. Such treasures were not to be let go easily.
Therefore, Xi Zhao whispered to Sun Wukong, "You attack with your full strength to cause a commotion. I’ll use invisibility to sneak up and pluck those three fruits, then run away imdiately!"
Afterward, he asked Fla God, "How much longer until the fruit ripens?"
Fla God looked carefully again and said, "A quarter of an hour! Only fifteen minutes and then the fruit will fly from the tree. At that mont, we must act fast to snatch it. Monkey and I will clear the way for you!"
Caoi, who heard the trio’s plan, rolled her eyes and then began to move slowly out of the valley with the little fox. She had no particular interest in the fruit and staying here would definitely result in being caught in the chaos, so she and the little fox left the valley from afar.
Seeing that Caoi and the little fox had also retreated, the three had no more concerns. They secretly nodded to each other, and then Xi Zhao instantly disappeared into a state of invisibility.
Fla God marveled at Xi Zhao’s miraculous ability to turn invisible, as from his senses, Xi Zhao had completely vanished as if he had never been there.
Sun Wukong also drew the Jingu Bang and summoned the Five-Colored Divine Stone. Then, with a thunderous roar, he bellowed, "This is Sun Grandpa speaking. Who dares to be presumptuous? Step back and hand over that fruit now!"
```
As Sun Wukong roared with such ferocity, everyone present was stunned. They were already on the edge because of their desire to seize the Vermilion Bird Fire Phoenix Fruit, but everyone was restraining themselves for fear that a fight would inadvertently harm the fruit tree. And Wukong’s roar was, no doubt, akin to lighting the fuse of an explosive barrel—in an instant, rage consud them all.
"How dare this brash young one be so presumptuous?" Soone spat back, though Wukong couldn’t tell who it was. Either way, he felt a barrage of attacks coming from all directions. Even with the Five-Colored Divine Light from the Five-Colored Divine Stone protecting his body, Sun Wukong could do nothing but flee from the spotlight, dodging to the side.
But the group seed determined to target Wukong, launching a second wave of attacks at him as he evaded.
Wukong, having a fiery temperant, saw that these people thought him to be a pushover and wanted to take him down. Anger surged through his heart and with a ferocious shout, his Five-Colored Divine Light surged trendously. Eventually, it ford an enormous five or six-ter-tall five-colored giant ape illusion that wrapped around Sun Wukong, shielding him from all incoming attacks.
With the giant ape illusion warding off the assaults, Sun Wukong laughed maniacally as he charged forward, wielding the Jingu Bang with sweeping and slashing motions that whipped up fierce winds. Moreover, Wukong secretly channeled so of the might of the World Suppressing Stele into the Jingu Bang, such as the power of the Three Thousand Barren Soil which now clung to the rod.
Thus, those struck or even touched by the Jingu Bang perished, and the Three Thousand Barren Soil seed to possess the ability to absorb soul power and purify it.
Sun Wukong felt his vitality and soul power growing increasingly dense; he even had the illusion that if he kept killing like this, he would not only rise to the level of a Seven Patterns Supre but possibly even ascend to the highest existence as a Nine Patterns deity.
Gradually, Sun Wukong beca imrsed in the thrill of both the slaughter and his explosive growth in power, with the number of his victims rising rapidly—ten, twenty, fifty, a hundred. His strength increased rapidly too, and although his realm remained at the Six Patterns Peak, the density of his soul and the aura he exuded felt as though he had reached the level of an Eight Patterns Supre.
But just then, Sun Wukong, lost in his killing spree, suddenly hesitated because he felt that his Jingu Bang was blocked by sothing. This feeling ignited his rage, who was it? Who was preventing him from gaining strength?
He needed power, only with enough strength could he leave this place and return to the Pangu Realm, to save his master and Bajie, find White Dragon, and to defeat the so-called Heavenly Dao.
Anyone preventing him from gaining power was the enemy, and the enemy needed to be killed.
Even though the person in front of Sun Wukong looked sowhat familiar, especially the Strange Saber blocking his Jingu Bang that seed sohow recognizable, the malice in his heart didn’t allow him the luxury of careful thought. It seed that only through slaughter could he vent the repressed hostility within him.
Without hesitation, Wukong twisted his body, retracted the Jingu Bang, and swung it fiercely again.
The Fla God realized that Sun Wukong had truly beco possessed and could no longer even recognize his own people. He had wanted to say sothing, but Wukong’s speed was too fast for there to be ti to speak; all the Fla God could do was horizontally place the Strange Saber Exploding Phoenix in defense before the Jingu Bang struck it hard.
Three Thousand Barren Soil on the Jingu Bang imdiately adhered to the Exploding Phoenix. Once touched by Three Thousand Barren Soil, even an immortal could not be saved.
The Fla God, aware of how peculiar the sandy substance was, dared not take it lightly and swiftly uttered a low shout. Then, explosions erupted on the Exploding Phoenix, aid at Sun Wukong. The originally adhered sand from the explosion was blasted away only to be sucked back by the Jingu Bang.
Seeing the explosions had an effect, the Fla God sighed in relief. Swinging the Strange Saber, he boldly t Wukong head-on. The Phoenix Illusion also erged with flas around his body, turning him into a fireball clashing violently against Sun Wukong.
The Jingu Bang, entwined with Desolate Sand and striking against the Exploding Phoenix that detonated upon contact, and the giant ape illusion born from the Five-Colored Divine Stone against the Fire Phoenix—it was as if two ancient ferocious beasts were in close combat. The shockwaves from their battle flung over a hundred nearby people away.
anwhile, the Vermilion Bird Fire Phoenix Fruit hadn’t yet ripened, but the two continued to fight, moving toward the center.
If no one intervened, the fruit would be destroyed by the aftermath of their fight before it could mature. Just as Xi Zhao was preparing to intervene, a small silhouette flew into the valley from outside. This figure was small, appearing to be but an eight or nine-year-old child.
However, as this tiny silhouette flew in, he grabbed Sun Wukong’s Jingu Bang and the Fla God’s Exploding Phoenix, one in each hand, and with a swing of his arms, tossed both combatants out of the valley. Your next chapter awaits on empire
Then, shaking off the Desolate Sand from his hands, he walked out as if nothing of importance had occurred!
Three Thousand Barren Soil devours life, a perilous path in the Netherworld World.
Deep within the heart, the Demon Race lingers, the Great Saint narrowly escapes from the brink of death.
