The two followed the tracks and gradually found more signs of the "delicacies" being eaten.

However, there were no spiders or other large creatures in sight, only so spider shells that had been completely cleaned out.

It was as if soone had eaten the spiders like crabs, with their bodies and innards hollowed out, leaving behind the light, empty shells, which still carried a foul, decaying sll.

It suggested that the spiders had been dead for so ti, and their bodies had been consud by sothing.

Yang Yi picked up a larger shell and received so information.

【Na: Tinder Spider Beast (fully grown)】

**【Description:**A large carnivorous spider species that displays considerable social behaviour, often hunting large prey in groups. Its fur has excellent thermal insulation properties.

【Can be inserted into the Octopus Vending Machine. Note: monster corpses used as food or material by players cannot be used for pulls.】

On one piece of the abdon’s carapace, clusters of fur were still attached.

【Na: Tinder Spider Fur】

【Type: Material】

【Quality: Fine】

【Description: A material with better insulation properties than wool or down, useful for making fur coats**.】**

Yang Yi gathered the carapace and fur, placing them into his storage pouch.

Whether he would exchange it or make a fur coat depended on the pull rate.

Suna didn’t pay attention to the carapace but instead focused on a footprint, gesturing with her hand.

“What is it?” Yang Yi walked over and asked.

“Don’t you think this footprint looks bigger and deeper than the one before? And it seems like he wasn’t wearing shoes,” Suna said as she placed her hand into it, carefully feeling it.

Yang Yi observed it for a mont, furrowing his brows.

“It does seem like that…”

He looked back at the way they had co from.

They had been following the sa tracks the whole ti, so it had to be the captain of the Good Fortune.

But it seed like sothing beyond the ordinary had happened to his body.

Under normal circumstances, a human being wouldn’t undergo such drastic changes in such a short period. Rapid transformations were usually reserved for insects with abnormal growth patterns, like caterpillars turning into butterflies.

And even then, it wouldn’t happen so fast!

Could the owner of these footprints still be considered human?

Yang Yi stared at the footprint in deep thought before finally speaking, “Let’s go; we need to see this for ourselves!”

He also wanted to figure out what had happened to the player.

It would help him be prepared for the future.

Besides, there was no turning back.

The two of them pressed on, with Yang Yi leading the way and Suna close behind.

Her eyes remained fixed on the chef’s knife hanging from Yang Yi’s waist, as if lost in thought.

As they ventured deeper, they approached the heart of the island.

There, the density of spiders was much higher, with carapaces scattered everywhere, all picked clean.

And the player’s footprints had beco utterly bizarre — swollen, misshapen, and almost circular, nearly as thick as an elephant's leg.

His weight had clearly reached a staggering level, given how much he had eaten.

Yet, there wasn’t a single sign of excrent along the way!

“He’s eating but not passing anything, and he’s consud so much. Is his digestive system so kind of superpower?” Yang Yi marvelled.

After walking another few hundred tres, Yang Yi suddenly stopped in his tracks and raised a hand to stop Suna from advancing.

“Shh!”

He motioned for silence.

Soon, Suna also heard the heavy panting and gulping sounds.

Yang Yi made a hand gesture — a signal he and Suna had previously agreed upon, indicating that he would go ahead and take a look.

After advancing a few tres, Yang Yi climbed over a bush and finally saw the source of the noise.

【You have discovered a disgusting monster, your sanity has decreased by 5】

It was a grotesque, bloated giant, over three ters tall. Its body had swelled so much from rapid growth that its skin had burst open, making it look as if it had been flayed, with fresh blood dripping everywhere.

The creature's belly was only covered by a thin, translucent mbrane, filled with a yellowish fluid, which might have been fat or so other liquid.

From five tres away, Yang Yi could sll the rancid odour coming off it, like spoilt grease.

What was worse, the monster could speak.

“at... Where did you hide the delicious at?!”

As it spoke, the giant tore into a nearby Tinder Spider’s body, gnawing at it.

After so effort, the giant found the spider’s intestines, squeezed out the food residue that hadn’t been expelled yet, and then stuffed it into its mouth.

The residue contained “delicacies” that were highly poisonous to spiders, yet the giant didn't care at all, devouring everything without hesitation.

After finishing the leftovers, it seed unsatisfied and quickly consud the rest of the spider’s body.

"This person has mutated!" Suna ssaged privately.

Seeing no movent from Yang Yi, she carefully crept up to him, crouching behind, half a body length away.

"How did he turn into this kind of monster?" Yang Yi replied in the log.

They both communicated silently through the log, making no noise.

"I'm not sure... We’ll need to dissect him to find out, but it probably has to do with eating the rotten flesh you tossed in earlier."

"So, it's my fault then," Yang Yi smirked.

At the sa ti, he realised sothing important.

In that world, player deaths could occur in two ways:

One was physical death, like being directly killed.

The other was ntal death.

A player could mutate into a monster for so reason, and when they reached that point, the system would also recognise them as dead.

"This giant is huge. It’s going to be tough to kill! Let hit him with sothing big; that should blow him apart!" Yang Yi was ready to act.

"Wait, try to keep him intact if you can! I want to understand why he mutated."

Yang Yi thought for a mont and agreed to Suna’s request. He also wanted to know the cause of the mutation.

Understanding would help him overco the fear of the unknown.

After finishing the spider, the giant suddenly lifted its head and began sniffing the air.

"Damn! He might have detected us!" Suna sent a private ssage.

Without replying, Yang Yi acted swiftly, taking the initiative.

At a distance of just over five tres, Yang Yi was confident he wouldn’t miss such a large, pig-like head.

Bang!

The gunshot rang out, and flas burst forth.

The bullet struck the giant in the cheek, blowing off half its face.

However, the giant’s pig-sized head had a thick skull. The shot didn’t reach its brain, only disfiguring it. Its two eyeballs flew out, and its cheek ripped apart, exposing the gums.

In standard mode, a single bullet wasn’t enough to kill the monster.

Moreover, Yang Yi and Suna’s position had been revealed!

"Fresh at~~~!"

The giant let out a howl through its torn mouth and began lumbering towards them.

Losing its eyes didn’t seem to hinder it much.

Both of them imdiately retreated, using the trees for cover and keeping their distance from the giant.

Two iron arrows coated in poison struck the giant’s belly, but they had little effect.

The giant, crazed and furious, crashed through the trees, breaking them as it charged forwards.

If it hit a person, the result would be catastrophic!

Bang!

Another gunshot rang out, and Yang Yi hit the giant’s knee, causing it to collapse on the spot.

The giant seed enraged, spitting out a large glob of pus at Yang Yi, who quickly dodged it.

The tree behind him wasn’t so lucky — it sizzled as though it had been hit with acid, white smoke rising as the bark lted away.

"Watch out for the yellow liquid in his body!" Suna warned. "It might be his digestive fluid. Even the arrows were dissolved!"

Yang Yi raised an eyebrow and noticed that the arrows previously lodged in the giant’s belly were gone, the broken ends on the ground emitting smoke.

The arrowheads had completely disappeared.

"Fresh at!" the giant bellowed, charging again.

It seed to have a healing ability, as the wounds on its face were slowly recovering.

Yang Yi didn’t dare waste any ti, quickly running as he contemplated a strategy.

But as he ran, the sounds behind him suddenly ceased.

Looking back, Yang Yi saw the giant had bent down and started eating the dirt.

It was the "delicious poison" Yang Yi had planted on the island earlier.

The giant, driven mad by its craving for “delicacies,” was eating whatever it could — even dirt!

Yang Yi’s eyes lit up with an idea. He quickly pulled out the Chef’s Knife and slashed at a tree beside him.

The tree imdiately began to emit a sweet aroma.

As soon as the giant caught a whiff of the scent, it went berserk and rushed to the tree, gnawing at it frantically.
