“More or less, that’s what happened.”
Yang Yi recounted the long chain of events from his dream to Suna, including how, after obtaining the Rat Killer, he had managed to save the Sanctuary Ship from disaster.
When he finished, Suna sat in silence for quite so ti. The dream contained too much information.
And it had been far too vivid, far too detailed. It felt less like a dream and more like the reenactnt of a forgotten history.
Ordinary dreams did not unfold with such clarity or structure.
Moreover, the dream contained things beyond the drear’s understanding: Moon Island, Dijie’s abilities, and the witch Wei Qian, who had thought and behaved like a living person.
She checked the private ssage Yang Yi had sent earlier. It contained information about his newly acquired extraordinary path.
【Dreamwalker (Nightmare): Spirit 1. Energy recovery speed during sleep reduced by 25% to 100%. You may occasionally awaken within dreams, regain self-awareness, and move freely. Altering a nightmare may grant Dream Crystals and temporary buffs or debuffs. All pleasant dreams appear as nightmares to you. Current Status: Agility 1, Perception 1, Temporary Spell – Bat Transformation. Status expires in one week.】
“This extraordinary path… is dangerously unstable.”
Suna looked at Yang Yi.
His body was wrapped in bandages. A torn wound stretched across his face, still seeping blood.
So injuries resembled gunshot wounds, others burns, all clearly tied to what he had experienced in the dream.
Damage suffered in lucid dreams partially manifested on the physical body.
For an ordinary person, such feedback could be fatal.
Yet Yang Yi’s vitality remained above seventy.
His ntal state had suffered as well. His sanity had fallen to twenty-seven.
If he were to die inside a lucid dream, the consequences could be severe.
“I know,” Yang Yi replied with a nod.
As the one who had endured the nightmare firsthand, he understood this better than anyone.
There was also a darker suspicion he had not voiced.
Perhaps the dream had not belonged to him at all.
Perhaps he had rely been dragged into it.
As for whose dream it truly was, Yang Yi had no desire to pursue the thought.
He took out the Dream Crystal he had obtained.
It resembled a flawless violet athyst. When he first acquired it, it had been covered in saliva.
Because he had coughed it up himself.
Now it was clean.
When held up to the light, a three-dinsional phantom could be seen within: a small cross-shaped vessel drifting upon the sea.
【Na: Dream Crystal (Small)】
【Type: Consumable】【Quality: Rare】【Description: A crystal containing dream energy. Can be used on relics or treasures, granting them the ability to enter dreams. Items carried may be brought into dreams and used there.】
“I’m going to enhance my flintlock pistol. Having a gun in the dream would make things much easier.”
Yang Yi pulled out the weapon, preparing to use the crystal.
But Suna suddenly snatched it from his hand.
“What are you doing?”
Yang Yi frowned.
He had noticed her movent but did not dodge.
“I want it.”
“You don’t even have nightmares. What would you do with it?”
“You’ll see when the ti cos.”
Suna offered no further explanation.
For now, it was only an idea. She was not yet certain it would work.
But if it did…
She might be able to enter the dream with him.
Yang Yi had no idea what she was planning. He only felt that her hoarding instincts were getting worse. She wanted a share of everything.
What could he do?
Nothing but let her have it.
Suna never wasted items.
Yang Yi stood, left the cabin, and found a quiet corner where he pulled out the remainder of the roast chicken he had not finished earlier.
He was still recovering. He needed food.
The chicken was cold now, slightly off in flavor, but once reheated it was far better than black-skinned potatoes or dark bread.
He ate every last piece.
Afterwards, he checked the ti.
In the dream, he had spent roughly seven hours.
In reality, he had slept less than five.
Ti did not flow the sa way in both worlds.
At the mont, Yang Yi had 62 energy points left, too little for anything strenuous. He pulled out his fishing rod, deciding to pass the ti by fishing for a while.
In six or seven hours, the Vitality Sardine Tree would reach maturity. Yang Yi planned to wait until then before considering anything else.
He used his Third Eye to scan the Sanctuary Ship in the distance and saw nothing unusual. Then he switched to the telescope and noticed that so indicator lights were off in the area he had previously rampaged through, likely Zone B. When he returned, he’d have to sneak in along a different route.
Yang Yi stowed away his Light Container on the ship’s railing and focused on fishing seriously.
Six hours later, he had caught two fish. Both were long-legged sardines. A third tugged at the line, seemingly a bigger catch.
“Up!”
He yanked hard and hauled a massive fish, over thirty centitres long, onto the deck. Yet there was no joy on his face.
The fish appeared to be parasitised by a house-nesting rat.
A perfectly good fish had grown a rat’s head, completely baffling.
Yang Yi didn’t kill it outright. Instead, he pulled out his flintlock pistol and used the stock as a blunt instrunt, knocking the rat head a few tis until it was unconscious.
He then gripped the fish by the tail to examine it and obtained its information.
【Na: Rat-Rat Fish】
【Description: Abyssal species. Half of its body is transford into a fish under the influence of the abyss, while the other half remains a rat. Flesh is tender and smooth, suitable for frying or roasting.】
“Not parasitised?” Yang Yi looked surprised.
The fish had a rat’s head, and he had assud it was a rat thrall. But it was just a Rat-Rat Fish. It was no threat, and it looked delicious.
He cleaned the dead fish, removed the entrails, skewered it on a stick, and roasted it on the spot.
The sizzling fat released an enticing aroma, completely unlike that of the house-nesting rats.
He sprinkled so salt for seasoning and took a bite of the rat head.
“Not bad at all.”
Yang Yi chewed steadily, crushing bones and fish flesh into small pieces and swallowing.
When the system said sothing was tasty, it rarely lied.
He carried the remaining roasted fish into the witch’s laboratory.
Suna was busy preparing a new batch of rat poison. The bottle of sea-distilled rum sat on the table.
The fused rat colony and the rat thrall were both preserved in jars.
The fused colony was huge, so the jar was enormous, enough to fit two people. Moving the jars was easy with the small robots’ help.
“Suna, I caught an incredibly tasty fish,” Yang Yi said, offering the roasted fish to her.
Suna eyed him suspiciously, Yang Yi had extrely low standards for what counted as delicious.
“Try it,” he urged.
Suna took a small bite. Her eyes widened.
“It’s actually pretty good. What kind of fish is this?”
“Rat-Rat Fish. A strange fish with a rat’s head, though I already ate the head,” Yang Yi explained.
Suna glared at him sharply, snatching the remaining roasted fish from his hand.
