A protective barrier suddenly ford around Ye Tian, completely shielding him from harm.
"Boom!"
The combined attack from the Buddha Tathāgata and the Jade Emperor struck—but failed to penetrate the shield at all.
"What incredible defense. We can't move forward like this."
Ye Tian smiled at their frustration. Did they really think it would be that easy to break through his defense?
His protective power was overwhelmingly strong. Even with the two of them attacking from both sides, even if their strength increased several tis over, breaking this shield wouldn't be so simple. That said, there was a critical flaw—its duration was limited. At most, it could last a few minutes.
"Stop wasting your energy. My defense is incredibly powerful. I doubt you can break through it!"
"What the hell is this? How can such a defense exist in this world?"
The Jade Emperor was visibly shocked. The shield's strength was simply unbelievable. Unwilling to accept it, he launched a direct strike against the barrier. But no matter how hard he hit, every ounce of force was ultimately reflected back at him.
"Useless."
"Let try!"
The Buddha Tathāgata had never seen such a defense either. The sheer resilience was staggering. He repeatedly attempted to pierce the shield—but all attempts failed.
"I'm standing right here. I'll give you three minutes. If you can break it, you win. If not, then leave quietly—I don't want to make this more troubleso than it needs to be."
Ye Tian wasn't just taunting them—he genuinely hoped to make them give up. His defense was mighty, but its duration was short.
"Fine. Let's try together."
"Mm."
Pooling all their strength, the Buddha Tathāgata and the Jade Emperor launched a full-power assault against the barrier. Yet even their combined might failed to make a dent.
"What? How can this be? This defense is beyond belief! Ye Tian… you're clearly not just so ordinary person!"
The Jade Emperor was finally convinced. His own offensive strength was already formidable, yet even when combined with the Buddha Tathāgata, they couldn't break through Ye Tian's shield.
How strong did soone's defense have to be to resist both of them?
"Had enough? I suggest you give up now—otherwise, don't bla for retaliating once the shield goes down!"
Ye Tian tried to scare them off. The Buddha Tathāgata looked at him and said,
"Your strength truly lives up to your reputation. I've learned my lesson."
"Tathāgata, let's go. You're the head of the Buddhist realm. If others see you fighting like this, it won't look good."
"I've disturbed you today. I'll be leaving now."
The Buddha Tathāgata recognized he wasn't Ye Tian's match. Even with the Jade Emperor helping, they couldn't break through his defense. That alone spoke volus about Ye Tian's terrifying strength.
Seeing the Buddha Tathāgata leave, the Jade Emperor thought bitterly, "Co on, seriously? I invited you here and now you just up and run the mont we can't win? At least leave together! That's what solidarity ans!"
With the Buddha Tathāgata gone, the Jade Emperor also fled. Only after watching them both retreat did Ye Tian finally breathe a sigh of relief.
They had left just in ti—his shield was on the verge of collapsing.
The defense was powerful, but extrely ti-limited. Ye Tian sighed:
"As I thought… If those two team up, I'm no match for them. I really should've trained harder. If I had, maybe I'd actually stand a chance next ti."
"Cough, cough!"
He coughed up a mouthful of blood. The combined assault from the two had left him with internal injuries.
"Heaven Realm, Buddhist Sect… You're both utterly shaless! Ganging up on like this—if word of today got out, how would you even show your faces again?"
Ye Tian was seething with fury. Still, he had no intention of publicizing the event. Among the powerful, strength spoke louder than words. If he couldn't defeat them outright, no one would believe him, no matter what he said.
Now that he was temporarily safe, he returned to his training grounds—Mount Huaguo. Upon arrival, he picked a quiet spot to begin his recovery.
Mount Huaguo was Sun Wukong's old ho, but Wukong was now busy protecting Tang Sanzang and wouldn't return anyti soon. For now, this mountain was Ye Tian's sanctuary.
Inside the Water Curtain Cave, Ye Tian focused on his training. His injuries were severe, and he needed to recover quickly. At the sa ti, he had to stay hidden—he couldn't afford to be found.
Back in the Heavenly Realm, the Jade Emperor was growing increasingly uneasy. Based on Ye Tian's usual vengeful nature, it didn't make sense for him to let them go so easily.
"Sothing's not right… Ye Tian has always repaid grudges. Why would he let us off this ti? There must be a reason!"
Beside him, the Queen Mother of the West was visibly disapproving.
"Honestly, Jade Emperor—what were you thinking? Inviting the Buddha Tathāgata to attack Ye Tian? That was far too reckless!"
"But he humiliated last ti. I had to get revenge, to restore my dignity—isn't that reasonable?"
"Jade Emperor, don't forget: there's always soone stronger out there. Ye Tian's power is growing at a terrifying rate. I think it's best not to provoke him again. Well? Clearly you didn't gain anything from this encounter, did you?"
She already knew he hadn't gained any advantage. If he had, he wouldn't be in such a sour mood right now.
