With the appearance of the “Gigant Brummbear”, the surrounding area is now devoid of monsters. Therefore, even if the boss has been defeated, it is unclear whether the other smaller enemies have also perished.
It cannot be stated with certainty without confirmation, but considering the specifications, they should not be dead.
“Even if we say to use the revival item, I wonder how it should be done. Should I just attach it?”
[Zagreus’ Heart] is not an artifact, so its thod of use is unknown. The sa goes for the Pure Heart, but that hasn’t been used yet, so it hasn’t been a concern.
For the ti being, the Gigant Brummbear was touched with the heart taken from the inventory. Imdiately, the item lted away and disappeared into the bear as if being absorbed. The light of LP returned to the bear, visible even with the [True Sight], and it shook its head, getting up unsteadily.
“Can it move imdiately after returning from a death state?”
“I wonder about its consciousness. Is it continuous?”
“The familiars seed to have no consciousness while dead, so maybe it just woke up now?”
The revived Gigant Brummbear, upon confirming Lyra’s presence, took a step back and began to flee.
“How rude to run away after seeing a person’s face.”
“Even if its INT is low, does it understand the one who killed it? Let’s chase it for now; we might reach the boss area.”
There seems to be no wisdom to escape in different directions to confuse pursuers or mislead them. The Gigant Brummbear ran straight back the way it ca.
And following it were two figures in robes, running through the swamp without making a splash.
If players saw this, it could turn into a ghost story, but fortunately, there are no creatures with MP around.
The fact that the deer and sli habitats concentrated near the outer periter of the swamp was probably due to the vigilance towards the boss bear.
Soon, the dampness underfoot decreased, and we entered an area with sparse vegetation.
It looked like a small hill.
This seems to be the boss area.
When the Gigant Brummbear ca to a cave dug into the hill where it seed to live, it looked back at us and growled low as it shrank in size.
“[Evil Smite].”
“Eh? Why did you kill it again?”
“Because I want to try various cases. Take this!”
Confirming the death of the bear due to the magic attack, I swung a Zagreus’ Heart and threw it. Although not serious, the gem thrown with a Demon Lord’s strength pierced the fallen bear’s body and seed to go quite deep into, if not through the bear.
“…It won’t revive. Maybe long-range doesn’t work?”
“There might be a cooldown or sothing.”
“Ah, I see.”
Approaching the bear’s body, they try touching it with their hands. However, there is no reaction.
“Maybe it’s still on cooldown. Okay, Lyra, try it.”
“Roger… No, it doesn’t work. So maybe the cooldown is set on the user’s side, not the one being used.”
“How long could it be? It seems a bit silly to just stand here until it’s over.”
“That’s true, but if it goes beyond three hours, this one might revive on its own. What do we do? Wait?”
“…This one might be fine with that.
For example, in the case of an ordinary NPC, not the ruler of a dungeon, if there was a cooldown of more than an hour for revival item usage, the soul might scatter sowhere during that ti.”
“I see. If that’s the case, an ordinary NPC would beco unable to revive after dying twice in a short ti.”
It’s a bit hard to imagine an ordinary NPC being in a situation where they die twice in a short ti, but it’s a possibility.
“Let’s wait for now. Ti is precious, but there’s plenty of value in verification.”
There are plenty of things we want to try using this bear. A dungeon where control does not transfer no matter how much you kill is truly wonderful.
After that, for a while, we chatted while I watched Lyra poke the bear’s corpse with the Zagreus’ Heart.
During the wait, I confird that the [Resurrectio] skill appeared in my Holy Magic tree. Blanc’s prediction seed to be correct.
However, the required experience points for acquisition were high. While it might not be a significant figure for , cheaper than the recent [The wise rule the heart, the foolish are enslaved] for an average-inco player, it would be a considerable amount.
Of course, I acquired it.
Eventually, the Zagreus’ Heart that Lyra had disappeared, and the Gigant Brummbear opened its eyes.
“Oh, it’s revived. Um, about an hour, I guess. It’s a delicate ti. If we use it right after the cooldown, there might be a slim chance, right?”
“Strictly speaking, the cooldown would be after the last revival, so the longer the ti between revival and the second death, the longer the chance ti.”
The poor bear, now thoroughly frightened, fled as soon as it revived, trembling deep in its den.
After the Brummbear left, Zagreus’ Heart was left behind. It was probably the one I threw and embedded earlier. It seed to be pushed out from the body and expelled upon resurrection.
“There, there, it’s okay. Don’t worry too much. It won’t hurt that much, and even if you die, I’ll revive you in an hour.”
“There’s no elent of reassurance at all. By the way, did you get [Resurrectio], Lyra?”
“Yeah, I got it.”
“Then, next, let’s verify if the cooldown overlaps between the resurrection item and this [Resurrectio].”
“Because, co on! Co out, bear!”
“It’s not going to co out like that. Okay.”
“What’s that? What are you doing?”
In the first place, the Gigant Brummbear, unable to endure hunger, should have gone outside the boss area seeking food. I took out so raw at from my inventory, of unknown origin, and placed it at the exit of the den.
“Sotis you do stupid things.”
“It’s not stupid, and I don’t want to hear that from you, Lyra.”
Frustrated by the bear not coming out at all, in the end, we smoked it out by heating the den with [Heating].
As a result of the verification, Zagreus’ Heart and Resurrectio had separate cooldowns, and it was possible to use each one independently based on its cooldown.
In other words, if you have multiple ans of revival, even if you die twice in a short period, you can be resurrected imdiately.
Furthermore, in the case of [Resurrectio], since it is a magic skill, it is not a cooldown but more specifically a ‘recast ti’. This naturally occurs for the person who activated it, and if there are many characters capable of using [Resurrectio], the target can die multiple tis without any issue. Although the ti is quite short compared to items, it falls into the longer category for magical recast tis. However, there seems to be no need to worry about the issue of the soul.
If they had known this information beforehand, the present day Archangel battle would have been much easier. They didn’t have the luxury of observing to that extent, but with the length of this recast ti, careful planning would be necessary for the use of [Resurrectio].
“Okay, next.”
The bear now has eyes that look like it’s already dead, staring at the void, giving up on everything.
“Are you going to do sothing else?”
“It’s a rehearsal. I’m wondering if I can use the Philosopher’s Stone to reincarnate characters who are not my subordinates or familiars.”
“Ahh, right. That’s important.”
I took the Philosopher’s Stone from my inventory and placed it in front of the bear.
The raw at I had just taken out was already in the bear’s belly.
When I showed my irritation at the bear’s unwillingness to eat, it put it in his mouth as if it were devouring it.
The Philosopher’s Stone was also imdiately put into his mouth. The Philosopher’s Stone is not used in that way, but it is activated by touching the item with the intention of using it. Apparently, it can also be used by eating it.
The Gigant Brummbear’s eyes widened for a mont and it was enveloped in a blinding light.
In the sight of the [Demonic Eyes] mana gathered from the surroundings and covered the bear.
“Ohh! That’s amazing! I see it collecting mana from the surrounding area and turning it into energy!”
Lyra said as she observed the bear.
“Can you see it?”
“Yes, I can. I saw with [Evil Eyes]. But it doesn’t seem to be able to do what I do, which is to kill with my eyes. I wonder if it’s a low-cost version or a limited-function version.”
When I opened my eyes again and looked at them, I saw that Lyra, like , had a different color in her left and right eyes. However, the color is opposite to mine. When did this happen? I wonder how long this has been going on.
And while my eyes are now considered to be a Demonic Eye in one eye and an Evil Eye in the other, Lyra had the Evil Eye in both eyes. I had thought that the reason why I cannot inflict multiple status abnormalities with my Evil Eye is because only one eye is an Evil Eye.
“Even you, Rare-chan, open both eyes when you kill with your eyes, right? The base is still Demonic Eyes. The change in the color of one eye probably just ans it got updated.
In my case, well, I’ll just say it. In my case, three out of my six eyes turned red.”
Sohow, Lyra wasn’t surprised because she had a feeling that her eyes had increased. So, it’s not that I can only apply one status abnormality with one eye, but rather, as Lyra ntioned earlier, the functionality is limited.
Although untested, I might be able to use Evil Eye with either the red or purple eye.
While they were chatting, the Gigant Brummbear had grown even larger, and the reincarnation into Gigant Pantherbear was completed. *(T/N: continuing the tank motif, it’s a pun or a reference to the Panzer tank)
“…Pantherbear? Well, it has a leopard pattern now.”
“Because Brummbear is a reference to a Type IV modified tank, so I guess this is an upgrade to V, maybe…?”
“What are you talking about?”
“It’s nothing important. If I’m right, I wonder, will it turn into a tiger pattern next?”
“Technically, in terms of machine numbers, it’s V and VI, but wasn’t the one nad a tiger numbered earlier?”
“Hey, you know!”
Not only the body size but also the ability values should have risen considerably.
When we peeked through Appraisal, the ability values were higher than expected. While INT had increased to so extent, it was still relatively low compared to other ability values. Unexpectedly, MND showed significant growth. Perhaps the experiences of the past few hours had so influence.
The growth of STR and VIT was good, but AGI was surprisingly outstanding. It seems being a leopard is not just for show.
With these values, it’s probably impossible for players in this area to escape.
Feeling a sense of omnipotence, the bear stood up leisurely and looked down at with a disdainful attitude.
“This phenonon seems to happen even with NPCs, huh? Know your place. [Stupefy], [Fea—”
“Wait. Sothing is approaching. Could it be players?”
Now that she ntioned it, they could see multiple MPs that seed like players approaching in the range of [Demonic Eyes].
Lyra seed to be already accustod to the vision of Demonic Eyes. In other words, since entering this dungeon, she had been able to see the surrounding MPs all along, and it was useless for to search for enemies and inform her every ti. She should have said it earlier.
“…If players are approaching, it might be more interesting to have them play with us.”
The confusion caused by [Stupefy] is only montary. In reality, it usually takes several seconds to regain composure or to be able to take action again. However, the bear has already regained itself.
However, it seems to have realized that I did sothing to it and recalled the fear from earlier. Even though [Fear] wasn’t actually applied, it seed to have shrunk considerably. Unlike other status abnormalities, it didn’t plunge into intense darkness in front of its eyes, but it wasn’t sothing mild.
“Bear-chan, co on, can you see them by now? There are lots of humans over there, right? Those are the ones you can eat.”
At this level of INT, it’s a subtle line whether it can understand language, but perhaps sensing what Lyra wanted to convey through gestures and atmosphere, it stood up again and turned towards the distant players.
“If we stay here like this, the great little play by Lyra earlier will go to waste.”
“It’s okay, it doesn’t matter. I just said sothing appropriate on the spot anyway. The important thing is for the players to think we’re NPCs. Whether or not my sister’s eyes get healed is another matter.”
