Boom!

Amidst Ethan’s excitent for the Godly Artifact, an earth-shaking explosion erupted, startling everyone in the Azure Serpent Realm. The reason for the blast was none other than the Plant Heaven Orb that had failed during its upgrade attempt.

[The Plant Heaven Orb has failed to upgrade into a Godly Artifact and exploded]

The cold system notification echoed in Ethan’s mind like a hamr strike.

"T-this... the upgrade failed?" Ethan’s expression stiffened as he looked at the fragnts of green crystal scattered around his feet. "What’s happening? Wasn’t I supposed to be Extrely Lucky?"

He quickly checked the glowing golden tir of his [Extre Luck] status. To his shock, there were still 20 seconds left. His brows furrowed deeply.

In the past, with this very Extre Luck, he had triggered impossible events with less than one percent probability. Compared to those miracles, the Plant Heaven Orb’s 25% upgrade chance should have been far easier. And yet—he failed. Not only did it fail, but the Orb itself was destroyed, vanishing forever from his hands.

’First, the duration of Extre Luck has been reduced from six hours to just sixty seconds... and now, even during that brief period, I encounter failure.’ Ethan gritted his teeth. The frustration in his chest felt like a raging storm.

As if sensing his building anger, the system delivered another explanation.

[Using the Heavenly Luck Card, the host temporarily obtains Heavenly Luck, greatly boosting the chances of success.]

[However, when it involves chances related to Godly Things, the effect of luck is greatly reduced.]

"...What?" Ethan muttered before his eyes widened slightly. After a pause, his clenched jaw eased, and he let out a bitter chuckle.

’Of course... how could I forget such simple logic? Godly things lie beyond Heaven’s natural order. Even with Extre Luck, their success rate is bound to be tampered with.’

He cursed himself inwardly, realizing he had been blinded by greed.

This was no ordinary lesson. It was a costly lesson.

His gaze lowered to the scattered remnants of the Plant Heaven Orb. His fists tightened, but soon loosened as he shook his head bitterly.

’Even though the Plant Heaven Orb was an inferior Heavenly Artifact due to its lack of combat ability, it was still extrely valuable. It was the reason the Green Lotus Tribe grew so powerful that even the Bloodclaw Tribe feared them.’

Ethan sighed, then consoled himself. ’At least, there are still four more Plant Heaven Orbs with others. Losing one won’t affect my mission to rge all five artifacts and open the Void Secret Realm.’

Still, a thought chilled his spine.

’What if I had chosen to upgrade the Moon Heaven Orb or the Bone Heaven Orb instead of the Plant Heaven Orb?’ He swallowed hard. ’Unlike the Plant Heaven Orb, where I had five in total, I only have one of each of those. If they had exploded, my mission would have ended before it even began.’

The more he thought about it, the more it made sense. ’Could this be a coincidence? Or... was it actually my Extre Luck that forced to choose the Plant Heaven Orb, sparing from a true disaster?’

A faint smile curved Ethan’s lips. Though the upgrade failed, his bitterness faded. ’Yes... that must be it. This is still luck. It prevented the worst outco. I should be grateful.’

Shaking his head, Ethan murmured, "It’s alright. All that matters is that I was able to repair the broken artifacts."

Just as he was about to examine them, he noticed dozens of gazes fixed on him. Around him stood the Night Demons, their eerie eyes burning with concern.

Zepharis was in the front, tense and ready to shield him, while Felix and the Azure Serpent Leaders stood close by, watching the aftermath with worry.

Ethan’s heart softened. For a mont, he was silent. Then he raised his voice with a calm smile, "It’s alright. I was just trying sothing... and it ended up failing. Nothing more."

The concern in their eyes tugged at sothing inside him. When he first transmigrated into this world, he had been utterly alone—walking in darkness with no one by his side. But now... there were demons, beasts, and people who cared for his safety.

’Isn’t this what I longed for in my past life?’

Ethan exhaled softly, his lips curling in a faint smile. He didn’t let his emotions linger for too long.

After sending everyone back to their duties, Ethan finally turned his attention to the system.

’I understand why the Plant Heaven Orb exploded even with the Heavenly Luck... but what about the drastic decrease in the duration of the Heavenly Luck Card?’

Previously, the High-level Heavenly Luck Card granted him six hours of Extre Luck. But this ti, its effect barely lasted sixty seconds—the sa as a Low-level Heavenly Luck Card. The change gnawed at his mind, and he couldn’t ignore it.

[Once the host has broken through to the Golden Core Realm, the Low-level Life Cards have beco ineffective.]

[Similarly, the effectiveness of certain High-level Life Cards is reduced to align with the World’s Laws.]

"...."

Ethan froze for a long mont. His lips twitched, and he almost cursed out loud, but in the end, he let out a long sigh.

’World’s Laws... of course.’

There was nothing more to argue about. Once the system invoked that explanation, Ethan knew it was absolute.

He had learned the existence of such unshakable principles when he beca the Realm Lord of the Realm of Life and Death.

Every world, every secret realm, every void realm operated under its own set of inviolable rules.

For example, there were strength restrictions—mighty cultivators above a certain realm couldn’t step foot into weaker worlds. Even if they forced their way in, their cultivation would be suppressed, leaving them crippled shadows of their true selves.

It could even restrict Gods from entering the world since even powerful worlds can’t bear the presence of existences called Gods.

It was also the reason why the Gods created apostles who could freely invade the worlds on their behalf and increase their territory.

Other than the Strength Restrictions, there were also cultivation speed restrictions. No matter how talented or resourceful a cultivator might be, within certain realms, their breakthroughs would slow down drastically once they reached a limit, ensuring the balance of that world wasn’t broken.

So realms imposed ti restrictions, where years inside would equal days outside—or the opposite, decades could vanish in a blink.

Others had energy restrictions, where certain laws prevented the use of specific elents or made certain cultivation paths completely useless.

And, of course, so had artifact restrictions. Even Heavenly Artifacts could be rendered ineffective if they violated the world’s governing laws.

Ethan rubbed his chin, his expression dark.

’So... the High-level Heavenly Luck Card’s six-hour effect being reduced to sixty seconds is also one of these laws? Since I’ve broken into Golden Core, the world won’t allow to keep abusing low and mid-tier Life Cards like before.’

A bitter smile crept across his face. "Tch... this world really doesn’t want to take shortcuts."

Nevertheless, Ethan was not too worried and focused on the next important thing.

"Now... let’s see what you are really capable of."

’Swiish’

With a flick of his fingers, Ethan summoned both repaired artifacts into the air, their faint but steady glow pulsing with newly restored life.
