Jun Linyuan said, “That’s why we must lure them out.”
Emperor Wu asked, “What do you an?”
Jun Linyuan said, “You’ll see when the spies are caught.”
When the spies were caught? Emperor Wu snorted. It wasn’t that he hadn’t run investigations; in fact, he had borrowed Qin Mo’s n already. However, the lengthy investigation turned up nothing in the end.
Seeing that Jun Linyuan wouldn’t tell him anything, Emperor Wu beca even more frustrated.
He threw a dirty look at Feng Wu. “If you don’t know what to do, don’t get in the way. Just because you have the token doesn’t an you get to order people around. Without my recognition, you’re just a common girl!”
He then turned to leave.
His maids and eunuchs quickly followed him.
Emperor Wu mumbled, “Even heroes fall for beauties. Jun Linyuan, you’re no exception.”
Once Emperor Wu was gone, Feng Wu handed Jun Linyuan the token and said grumpily, “Take it. It’s not like I want it.”
“With it, you won’t need to kneel when you et other governnt officials,” Jun Linyuan said indifferently.
That was very appealing. Feng Wu was intrigued, but such an occasion wouldn’t happen very often, and she might not need to use it after all.
Therefore, Feng Wu still wanted to give the token back.
Jun Linyuan then said sothing else.
“It’ll protect the people you want to protect, at least on the surface.”
Feng Wu’s eyes lit up.
That was right. The espionage departnt had a lot of guards, and with this token, she would be able to command them all.
People would fight head over heels for this token.
At that thought, Feng Wu put it into her pocket.
Jun Linyuan smiled a little, but he covered it well and Feng Wu didn’t see it.
When Feng Wu walked out of the tent —
“Miss Feng Wu —”
A voice rang out next to her.
She looked up and saw Zhao Jia.
She rembered this man.
Jun Linyuan had recruited four guards. Three of them were taciturn n that would only speak when they were asked.
But Zhao Jia was different. He was very talkative and would ask Feng Wu for little favors from ti to ti.
Because of that, Feng Wu knew him well.
“Miss Feng, may I ask for leave?” Zhao Jia asked in a pleading tone.
Feng Wu glanced at him. “What for?”
Zhao Jia said, “I’m from Jingyang Province, and my hotown is nearby. I want to take so ti off and pay my family a visit.”
Feng Wu looked up. “You live in this area?”
Zhao Jia said, “Yes. I haven’t been back here in five years, so I thought I could go visit my parents while we’re here.”
Feng Wu frowned. “Aren’t you from the Zhao family? It’s a rather big clan. How co your family lives out here?”
Zhao Jia smiled wryly. “Miss Wu, I’m only from a minor branch of the Zhao family. Because I have so talent, the major branch took in when I was little. I learned my martial arts there, so people see as a mber of that big clan.”
